Book Mentor Guide

Download or read book Mentor Guide written by Gareth Lewis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-09-10 with total page 109 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The structure of the programme: There are two main guiding principles for the way in which the programme is organized: Firstly, the workbooks are grouped according to the Key Roles of Management. There are two core modules which focus on the personal skills required by all managers to help underwrite competence in all areas. Manage Activities describes the principles of managing the processes and activities of any organisation in its efforts to satisfy the needs of their customers. Manage Resources looks at the acquisition, control and monitoring of financial and other resources. Manage People looks at the principles of leadership, managing performance and developing people. Manage Information looks at the acquisition, storage and use of information for communication, problem solving and decision making. Together, these key roles provide a comprehensive description of the fundamental principles of management as it applies in all organisations. Secondly, the workbooks are grouped according to levels of management. The series is organised on two levels - representing different levels of management seniority and responsibility. Level 4 represents first line management. In accredited programmes this is equivalent to N/SVQ level 4, Certificate in Management or CMS. Level 5 is equivalent to middle/senior management and is accredited at N/SVQ level 5, Diploma in Management or DMS. Finally, the programme covers all of the knowledge and principles in respect of all units of competence in the MCI standards at levels 4 and level 5. These links are shown in the maps provided in the User Guide. The Programme is designed to satisfy the requirements of awarding bodies for qualifications in management at both levels.

Book excerpt: This collection examines the profound transformations that have characterised cities of the advanced capitalist societies in the final decades of the 20th century. It analyses ways in which relationships of contest, conflict and cooperation are realised in and through the social and spatial forms of contemporary urban life. In particular, the essays focus on the impact of economic restructuring and changing forms of urban governance on patterns of urban deprivation and social exclusion. These processes, they contend, are creating new patterns of social division and new forms of regulation and control.

Book Helping people from workless households into work

Download or read book Helping people from workless households into work written by Great Britain: National Audit Office and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2007-07-19 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A workless household is defined as a household that includes at least one person of working-age (men aged 16-64 years and women aged 16-59 years) where no one in the household aged 16 or over is in employment. Currently, there are about three million households, containing 1.7 million children, who still have no-one in work. Evidence suggests that many adults in workless households would like to work, but that they face multiple barriers to work, such as low skills, disability, a lack of affordable and flexible childcare, or caring responsibilities and may have been on benefits for a long time. The NAO report examines the effectiveness of Department for Work and Pensions' employment programmes aimed at workless households in England, focusing on two programmes: the New Deal for Lone Parents and the New Deal for Partners. The report finds that these programmes are making a difference for those who take part, but more needs to be done to reach out to workless households and to increase awareness of the support available and help people to prepare for and find work.
