With kindness, grace, and bravery, Macy finds her place in the world, bringing beauty and laughter wherever she goes and leading others to find delight in the unique design of every person. Children are naturally aware of the differences they encounter at school, in their neighborhood, and in other everyday relationships. They just need to be given tools to understand and appreciate what makes us “different,” permission to ask questions about it, and eyes to see and celebrate it in themselves as well as in those around them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enjoy all three books in the Cafferty & Quinn series by New York Times bestselling author and master of romantic suspense Heather Graham! LET THE DEAD SLEEP An object of desire? Or of fear? It was stolen from a New Orleans grave—the centuries-old bust of an evil man, a demonic man. One day its current owner shows up at Danni Cafferty's antiques shop on Royal Street, but before Danni can buy the statue, it disappears… Michael Quinn, former cop and now private investigator, is determined to find and destroy this object with its long history of evil. But Cafferty and Quinn know that their story won't end, even when this case is closed and the dead rest in peace once again. WAKING THE DEAD They say a painting can have a life of its own. In the case of Ghosts in the Mind, painted by Henry Sebastian Hubert, that's more than just an expression. The characters are reputed to come to life—and to kill. Wherever it goes, death seems to follow. Danielle Cafferty and Michael Quinn, occasional partners in solving crime, are drawn into the case. They have to discover what brings this work of art—and evil—to life. And they have to destroy it. Before it destroys them… THE DEAD PLAY ON Play a song for me… Musicians are being murdered in New Orleans, but Arnie Watson apparently died by his own hand. When Tyler Anderson plays the saxophone he inherited from Arnie, he believes he sees visions of his friend's life—and death. He becomes convinced Arnie was murdered and that the instrument had something to do with it, and with whatever's happening all over the city… Tyler knows his theory sounds crazy, so he approaches Danni Cafferty, hoping she and Michael Quinn will find out what the cops couldn't.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Luce Cameron doesn’t want to go home, not even when her dying godfather tells her there’s a lost manuscript to be found there. It’s three years since she was one of ‘John Knox’s G Strings’, a band that had a future. Luce isn’t sure what hers is any more, but she persuades theatre technician Ninian Tulloch to go to Dunpark House in her stead. He finds himself travelling in the company of ‘promising’ comedian Eddie Corcoran and on-the-run Rob Ainslie, but none of them expect the undivided attention of relentless Inspector Maurice Macquarie. Caught up in a plot to retrieve smuggled diamonds from Dunpark House, the hapless trio endure life-threatening experiences such as disposing of an inconvenient corpse, rough sleeping and recreational dancing with a ladies cricket team. While these three are making their frequently interrupted journey to Loch Tay, another narrative unfolds. Archibald Cameron, heir to Dunpark House, finds himself involved in balloon experiments that interest Oliver Corcoran, a double agent anxious to escape both his employers. Real events, such as the naval mutinies of 1797, the Tranent massacre and Loch Tay militia riots, mingle with the fates of Archibald, his friend Tam Linton and Oliver. Past and present collide when the worst storm in almost two hundred years hits the shores of Loch Tay and threatens to engulf both...An entertainment disguised as a blackly comic crime thriller with historical outbursts, Playing the Air reminds us we all rewrite our own histories, forget what we ought to remember and ignore our past, yet somehow keep smiling.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is not just another book of Irish session tunes. It represents the relatively unknown repertoire of a single Irish traditional musician, Packie Manus Byrne ofDonegal. There has been considerable interest in the music of Donegal over the past 10 years or so, especially with the rise of groups such as Altan. Packie Manus Byrne is a familiar name to traditional-music lovers in Ireland and the UK, where he enjoyed a successful career as a folk performer for more than 20 years. Almost all these tunes were being played in Packie's home area between 1925 and 1935; the collection is thus something of a time capsule with a unity of origin and style that sets it apart from other collections. The 85 genuine old traditional tunes are being made public for the first time. This unique collection, with all the background information and stories, gives the reader a real sense of the community out of which the music came and the characters who played it. Suitable for fiddle, tin whistle, flute and othertraditional instruments. The online audio download includes 33 of the tunesperformed by Jean Duval, Stephen Jones, Johanne St. Laurent, Lynda Dowker, and Reinhard Grner on a variety of instruments

Book Reading Guide to The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris Unauthorized

Download or read book Reading Guide to The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris Unauthorized written by Kevin Mahoney and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an illustrated reading guide to Heather Morris's bestselling novel The Tattooist of Auschwitz. Although presented as a novel, Lale Sokolov's story contains important eyewitness testimony that has previously not been documented in other histories of Auschwitz. There have been criticisms about the novel's historical accuracy, and Kevin Mahoney does indeed point out the factual errors in the book. Kevin argues that such errors are inevitable in a narrative of this length, derived from an oral testimony that related events that occurred many decades previously. (Lale delayed telling his story for fear of being accused of being a Nazi collaborator during Gita's lifetime.) However, there is no dispute that Lale was a tattooist of Auschwitz, for there is documentary evidence of this. Kevin Mahoney explores the various controversies surrounding the novel, and explains the historical context around Heather Morris's depiction of Lale and Gita's tumultuous bid to survive the horrors of Auschwitz.
