Download or read book Play Piano Like Never Before written by Erik F. Hauck and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-05-26 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you want to discover something new, you have to read a really old book! O. V. Maeckel published his method to an organic piano play in Germany in 1938. The book holds the essence of piano playing - how to get to a fully relaxed and masterful play. I want you to discover it for yourself and be transformed just as it transformed me and so many others already. The original book was lost and forgotten until it was recently exhumed and reprinted by my piano master, Professor Gregor Weichert, in Germany in 2015. That is how I got to it. O. V. Maeckel had dedicated his life to figuring out how the masters of his time and prior actually played the piano. He was driven partly out of despair as he kept failing to advance his play to a true virtuous level. After enlisting with disciples of Chopin and Franz Liszt, he realized that those masters of his time were simply unable to explain or teach how to play although they excelled in unimaginable ways. He finally succeeded after decades of painful and detailed analysis, just a few years prior to his death. So what is Maeckel's E=MC2? If you force me to sum up his work of life in one formula, let me say this: Everyone knows you play the piano by pressing on the keys to create a tone. Maeckel reversed the thought. In his basic play mode 'the normal tone', you must avoid any active pressure on the keys altogether. The tone is generated by withdrawing the fingers instead. How is this possible? Read the book. If you carefully follow the method, your hands, wrists and the entire you will be relaxed and enlightened. Guaranteed. You will learn to play how Franz Liszt and Mozart likely played - without effort, just like the masters of our time. As I worked through the book on a plane and practiced the free standing exercises (no piano needed), it totally clicked. I had suffered from a 'heavy arm'. Now, I am cured. The same thing happened first to Maeckel himself, and then to all of his students, no exceptions. My play has become much more relaxed, not only in my hands and wrists, but also in my arms, back and neck. As a result, my perception and listening to music changed. As I keep studying the book and keep working as instructed, I continue to make fabulous progress. Thus, I highly recommend this book to anyone who has any worries or problems with piano playing, and even to those who think they don't. After reading this book, your mind, hands and ears will be freed like never before. That is why I went through the trouble of translating the original book and distilling the method down to its very core for you. Please forgive me that I sometimes view Maeckel's work from the perspectives of a neurosurgeon and anatomist, as this is who I am. If you are a superstar at the piano already, at least you will understand why playing the piano is so easy for you. Have fun!

Book excerpt: 'Internationally acclaimed pianist, author and all-round nice guy James Rhodes promises that this book can teach anyone with access to a piano or an electric keyboard and 45 minutes to practice every a day, the tools they need to learn to play Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C Major in 6 weeks' RED MAGAZINE Learn to play one of Bach's most exquisite preludes in just 6 weeks, even if you have never played the piano before. An accessible and inspiring book by the pianist and international bestselling writer James Rhodes, who promises that it gives anyone with two hands, a piano or an electric keyboard and just 45 minutes a day the tools they need to learn to play Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C Major in 6 weeks, even if they know nothing about music and have never even touched a piano before. How often do we convince ourselves that it's just too late - too late to learn how to ride a bike, too late to know how to meditate, too late to travel the world... As we get older and time slips through our fingers like water, we become resigned, almost defeatist, about abandoning our dreams. For James Rhodes, after the inevitable "How many hours a day do you practice?" and "Show me your hands", the most common thing people say to him when they hear he's a pianist is "I used to play the piano as a kid. I really regret giving it up". Where does this mourned and misplaced creativity go? For Rhodes, it's still there to be tapped into by all of us, at any point. This inspirational book gives us the means to do this, by breaking up Bach's seminal Prelude No. 1 from the Well-Tempered Clavier into manageable segments, teaching us the basics of piano playing - how to read music, the difference between the treble and the bass clef, sharp and flat notes, how to practice etc.. - and encouraging personal interpretation in a way that is guaranteed to soothe the mind, feed the soul and unleash creative powers we didn't know we still had. All of this will culminate in an ability to perform one of Bach's masterpieces. "If listening to music is soothing for the soul, then playing music is achieving enlightenment. It's going from kicking a ball around with a few pals to playing alongside Ronaldo."

Book How to Play Chords on the Piano Without Reading Music

Download or read book How to Play Chords on the Piano Without Reading Music written by Jacob Black and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-14 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Learning to play chords is one of many ways to play the piano without reading music. Most guitar students learn how to play songs using chords, but many don't know you can do so on the piano, too. It's actually pretty easy, and this book will show you how to get started. For adults (or older kids) of all levels- everyone from complete beginners to experienced players that never learned to play without sheet music. This is the very first book in the acclaimed Fingerprint Method, an innovative teaching philosophy with 15 years of success teaching thousands of students in a way that's actually FUN for each of them. So far, it's only been available via Fingerprint Music School's exclusive team of highly trained private instructors in Seattle & Kansas City; now it's available to you. - There's a common myth about playing the piano- that you have to read music to do it. Well, it's time to debunk that myth. Reading music is a great skill to have if you want to learn complicated music with a high level of technical precision. It's also a time-saving and space-saving way to communicate musical ideas once you get it down. BUT it's by no means the only way to learn the piano (or any other instrument). And for many people, focusing on reading music from the start just takes all the fun out of it. It turns what could be an joyous musical adventure in creating colorful sounds into a draining technical exercise. Think of music as a language. As small children, we learn language by speaking it first; reading and writing comes later. Imagine how hard it would be for kids if we made them learn to read before speaking. Of course, for some people, reading music from the start does work well- their brains have a knack for the logic of it. (Just like some kids may show more comfort with reading than speaking.) But for many others, learning to "speak" music before reading it is a delightful revelation. So, if reading music isn't the only way to learn, what other ways are there? This book offers one possible answer: learning to play using chords and chord progressions. There are other ways, too, covered in other [forthcoming] Fingerprint books, such as: learning to play by ear (which anyone can do; yes, really!), learning to improvise in various genres (jazz, blues, rock, funk, bluegrass, folk, world styles, etc.), learning composition & songwriting, and learning to use music software and technology. None of which requires reading music. The Fingerprint Method is not against reading music- we're against anything that takes the fun out of it for YOU. And like we said, reading music does work great for some people. So we also have a [forthcoming] series with our unique approach to Learning to Read Music, which you can delve into (or not) at any point in your musical development. If you think learning to play from chords could be the right musical path for you, or if you're not sure what it means to play from chords and you want to find out- purchase this book today. - About The Fingerprint Method: The question isn't "am I musical," but "how am I musical?" Everyone is musical in a unique way, and it's important that you learn music in the right way for your brain. Even as a complete beginner, you can learn to Play By Ear, Play from Chords, Improvise, or Write Your Own Songs (in addition to the traditional way of Reading Music). The Fingerprint Method is all about options, giving you many paths into the musical world. So we have books and videos courses in the works for all of the above. The musical world is vast. Find your own unique pathway through it- your musical fingerprint.
