Book excerpt: Integrate practical insights from modern physics, ancient Hermetic Laws, non-dual meta-physics, transpersonal psychology, and humor, as tools for undoing conflicting beliefs we've dreamed ourselves into. The seven Hermetic laws are explored in depth and demonstrate how a mindfulness that embraces 'other' as 'self' can reverse the typical misapplication of these inescapable laws of Mentalism, Correspondence, Vibration, Polarity, Rhythm, Cause & Effect and Generation. Ubiquitous geometric symbols, paired to each of these laws - the circle, vesica piscis, sine wave, line, spiral, fractal and yin-yang - and their countless commonplace variations, seen from the vantage point of shared interests, reflect these ideas. The inspired use of natural law restores attributes of life, love, strength, purity, beauty, perfection and gratitude to our awareness.

Download or read book Building Platonic Solids written by Sympsionics Design and published by . This book was released on 2015-03-01 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can you build sturdy Platonic solids that will hold together through to the last gluing? The templates in this book were designed to answer that question. You can build the solids directly from the templates, or use them as a model to create the solids out of colored paper, cardboard, or paper you have colored or painted yourself. The completed solids made from the templates are about 1.6inches (4cm) high, and you can also follow the instructions to build larger solids. Each template is included in the book three times, allowing you to practice or build them along with your friends. Includes 3x5 black-and-white templates for building Platonic solids and instructions, and clear step-by-step images for ruler and compass constructions on how to draw the templates. * New in the second edition: * Some of the template images were moved to the same pages for easier copying for teachers. * Detailed drawing instructions for ruler and compass constructions.

Book Platonic and Archimedean Solids

Download or read book Platonic and Archimedean Solids written by Daud Sutton and published by . This book was released on 2001-08 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whereas "Sacred Geometry" introduced readers to two-dimensional forms, "Platonic & Archimedean Solids" presents the world of three dimensions, which was understood as early as neolithic time. Book excerpt: Polyhedra have cropped up in many different guises throughout recorded history. In modern times, polyhedra and their symmetries have been cast in a new light by combinatorics an d group theory. This book comprehensively documents the many and varied ways that polyhedra have come to the fore throughout the development of mathematics. The author strikes a balance between covering the historical development of the theory surrounding polyhedra, and presenting a rigorous treatment of the mathematics involved. It is attractively illustrated with dozens of diagrams to illustrate ideas that might otherwise prove difficult to grasp. Historians of mathematics, as well as those more interested in the mathematics itself, will find this unique book fascinating.

Book excerpt: How a simple equation reshaped mathematics Leonhard Euler’s polyhedron formula describes the structure of many objects—from soccer balls and gemstones to Buckminster Fuller’s buildings and giant all-carbon molecules. Yet Euler’s theorem is so simple it can be explained to a child. From ancient Greek geometry to today’s cutting-edge research, Euler’s Gem celebrates the discovery of Euler’s beloved polyhedron formula and its far-reaching impact on topology, the study of shapes. Using wonderful examples and numerous illustrations, David Richeson presents this mathematical idea’s many elegant and unexpected applications, such as showing why there is always some windless spot on earth, how to measure the acreage of a tree farm by counting trees, and how many crayons are needed to color any map. Filled with a who’s who of brilliant mathematicians who questioned, refined, and contributed to a remarkable theorem’s development, Euler’s Gem will fascinate every mathematics enthusiast. This paperback edition contains a new preface by the author.

Book Regular Figures

  • Author : L. Fejes Tóth
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2014-07-10
  • ISBN : 1483151433
  • Pages : 360 pages

Download or read book Regular Figures written by L. Fejes Tóth and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-10 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regular Figures concerns the systematology and genetics of regular figures. The first part of the book deals with the classical theory of the regular figures. This topic includes description of plane ornaments, spherical arrangements, hyperbolic tessellations, polyhedral, and regular polytopes. The problem of geometry of the sphere and the two-dimensional hyperbolic space are considered. Classical theory is explained as describing all possible symmetrical groupings in different spaces of constant curvature. The second part deals with the genetics of the regular figures and the inequalities found in polygons; also presented as examples are the packing and covering problems of a given circle using the most or least number of discs. The problem of distributing n points on the sphere for these points to be placed as far as possible from each other is also discussed. The theories and problems discussed are then applied to pollen-grains, which are transported by animals or the wind. A closer look into the exterior composition of the grain shows many characteristics of uniform distribution of orifices, as well as irregular distribution. A formula that calculates such packing density is then explained. More advanced problems such as the genetics of the protean regular figures of higher spaces are also discussed. The book is ideal for physicists, mathematicians, architects, and students and professors in geometry.
