Book Elementary Mechanics of Plastic Flow in Metal Forming

Download or read book Elementary Mechanics of Plastic Flow in Metal Forming written by Samuel H. Talbert and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1996-06-03 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal forming plasticity is an advanced subject of intensive current research relevant to both materials science and mechanical engineering. It is used for the analysis and modelling of fabrication processes such as forging, extrusion, rolling, wire, and tube drawing. The fundamentals of flow mechanics are explained here before they are applied in a variety of machine-tool design engineering situations. These fundamentals form the basis of all engineering analyses of the plastic flow in metal forming and are essential to all students of engineering. Worked examples showing the variety of metal forming situations and approximately 200 end-of-chapter problems are also included.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treatise on Materials Science and Technology, Volume 6: Plastic Deformation of Materials covers the fundamental properties and characterization of materials, ranging from simple solids to complex heterophase systems. The book presents articles on the low temperature of deformation of bcc metals and their solid-solution alloys; the cyclic deformation of metals and alloys; and the high-temperature diffusion-controlled creep of some metals and alloys, with particular reference to the various creep mechanisms. The text also includes articles on superplasticity; the fatigue deformation of polymers; the low temperature deformation of crystalline nonmetals; and the recovery and recrystallization during high temperature deformation. Professional scientists and engineers, as well as graduate students in materials science and associated fields will find the book invaluable.

Book Plasticity Theory

Download or read book Plasticity Theory written by Jacob Lubliner and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-04-22 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of Plasticity Theory is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the contemporary state of knowledge in basic plasticity theory and to its applications. It treats several areas not commonly found between the covers of a single book: the physics of plasticity, constitutive theory, dynamic plasticity, large-deformation plasticity, and numerical methods, in addition to a representative survey of problems treated by classical methods, such as elastic-plastic problems, plane plastic flow, and limit analysis; the problem discussed come from areas of interest to mechanical, structural, and geotechnical engineers, metallurgists and others. The necessary mathematics and basic mechanics and thermodynamics are covered in an introductory chapter, making the book a self-contained text suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, as well as a reference for practitioners of solid mechanics.

Book Plastic Deformation and Strain Hardening

Download or read book Plastic Deformation and Strain Hardening written by P.O. Kettunen and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 2003-03-01 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is based upon lectures given during a well-received course on physical metallurgy and originally intended for students specializing in fields related to metallic materials. But, as the author points out, metallic materials are the most widely investigated group of materials and their study therefore gives a good basis for understanding how other materials can be made to reveal interrelationships between their structures and properties; especially with regard to those properties associated with strain. Similar types of rule can then be applied to other materials, in spite of their apparent differences.

Book Plasticity and Creep of Metals

Download or read book Plasticity and Creep of Metals written by Andrew Rusinko and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-24 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book serves both as a textbook and a scientific work. As a textbook, the work gives a clear, thorough and systematic presentation of the fundamental postulates, theorems and principles and their applications of the classical mathematical theories of plasticity and creep. In addition to the mathematical theories, the physical theory of plasticity, the book presents the Budiansky concept of slip and its modification by M. Leonov. Special attention is given to the analysis of the advantages and shortcomings of the classical theories. In its main part, the book presents the synthetic theory of irreversible deformations, which is based on the mathematical Sanders flow plasticity theory and the physical theory, the Budiansky concept of slip. The main peculiarity of the synthetic theory is that the formulae for both plastic and creep deformation, as well their interrelations, can be derived from the single constitutive equation. Furthermore, the synthetic theory, as physical one, can take into account the real processes that take place in solids at irreversible deformation. This widens considerably the potential of the synthetic theory. In the framework of the synthetic theory such problems as creep delay, the Hazen-Kelly effect, the deformation at the break of the load trajectory, the influence of the rate of loading on the stress-strain diagram, creep at the changes of load, creep at unloading and reversed creep, have been analytically described. In the last chapter, the book shows the solution of some contemporary problems of plasticity and creep: Creep deformation at cyclic abrupt changes of temperature, The influence of irradiation on the plastic and creep deformation, Peculiarities of deformation at the phase transformation of some metals.

Book Plastic Deformation and Fracture of Materials

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials Science and Technology A Comprehensive Treatment Edited by R.W. Cahn, P. Haasen, E.J. Kramer The 18-volume series ‘Materials Science and Technology' is the first in-depth, topic-oriented reference work devoted to this growing interdisciplinary field. A compendium of current, state-of-the-art information, it covers the most important classes of materials: metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, semiconductors, and composites, from the fundamentals of perfect semiconductors via the physics of defects to "artificial" and amorphous semiconductors. Edited by internationally renowned figures in materials science, this series is sure to establish itself as a seminal work. Volume 6: This volume focuses on the mechanisms of plastic deformation and fatigue affecting the properties and performance of a wide variety of materials. Topics included are: flow stress and work hardening • dislocation patterning • solid solution strengthening • particle strengthening • superplasticity • inelastic deformation • cyclic deformation • fracture mechanisms • friction and wear • high-temperature deformation and creep • deformation and textures of metals at large strains
