Book Dislocations and Plastic Deformation

Download or read book Dislocations and Plastic Deformation written by I. Kovács and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-08 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dislocations and Plastic Deformation deals with dislocations and plastic deformation, and specifically discusses topics ranging from deformation of single crystals and dislocations in the lattice to the fundamentals of the continuum theory, the properties of point defects in crystals, multiplication of dislocations, and partial dislocations. The effect of lattice defects on the physical properties of metals is also considered. Comprised of nine chapters, this book begins by providing a short and, where possible, precise explanation of dislocation theory. The first six chapters discuss the properties of dislocations and point defects both in crystals and in an elastic continuum. The reader is then introduced to some applications of dislocation theory that show, for instance, the difficulties involved in understanding the hardening of alloys and the work-hardening of pure metals. This book concludes by analyzing the effect of heat treatment on the defect structure in metals. This text will be of interest to students and practitioners in the field of physics.

Book Plastic Deformation and Fracture of Materials

Download or read book Plastic Deformation and Fracture of Materials written by Robert W. Cahn and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1993 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials Science and Technology A Comprehensive Treatment Edited by R.W. Cahn, P. Haasen, E.J. Kramer The 18-volume series ‘Materials Science and Technology' is the first in-depth, topic-oriented reference work devoted to this growing interdisciplinary field. A compendium of current, state-of-the-art information, it covers the most important classes of materials: metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, semiconductors, and composites, from the fundamentals of perfect semiconductors via the physics of defects to "artificial" and amorphous semiconductors. Edited by internationally renowned figures in materials science, this series is sure to establish itself as a seminal work. Volume 6: This volume focuses on the mechanisms of plastic deformation and fatigue affecting the properties and performance of a wide variety of materials. Topics included are: flow stress and work hardening • dislocation patterning • solid solution strengthening • particle strengthening • superplasticity • inelastic deformation • cyclic deformation • fracture mechanisms • friction and wear • high-temperature deformation and creep • deformation and textures of metals at large strains

Book Theoretical Prediction of Plastic Strains of Polycrystals

Download or read book Theoretical Prediction of Plastic Strains of Polycrystals written by Bernard Budianski and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plastic strain is considered a consequence of slipping on some of the 12 slip systems of facecentered-cubic single crystals. The polycrystal is assumed to be macroscopically homogeneous and initially isotropic -- that is, the crystal orientations, sizes, shapes and locations are random and uncorrelated. The rotations of the grains during deformation are neglected, and the average plastic strain in grains of a given orientation is calculated on the basis of the assumption that the grains under consideration are spherical and elastically isotropic. Book The Plastic Anisotropy in Single Crystals and Polycrystalline Metals

Download or read book The Plastic Anisotropy in Single Crystals and Polycrystalline Metals written by Wojciech Truszkowski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-03-31 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph deals with the plastic anisotropy described by the strain ratio, its physical meaning and technological aspects. The method of precise determination of the instability of crystallographic orientation in deformed imperfect single crystals is presented; it may be considered the essential factor in the analysis of deformation texture in polycrystals. The book is meant to be of help to those engaged in fundamental research and technology of plastic working, suggesting new useful methods and effective procedures.

Book Plasticity Damage Couplings From Single Crystal to Polycrystalline Materials

Download or read book Plasticity Damage Couplings From Single Crystal to Polycrystalline Materials written by Oana Cazacu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-19 with total page 591 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Offering a well-balanced blend of theory and hands-on applications, this book presents a unified framework for the main dissipative phenomena in metallic materials: plasticity and damage. Based on representation theory for tensor functions and scale-bridging theorems, this framework enables the development of constitutive models that account for the influence of crystallographic structures and deformation mechanisms on the macroscopic behavior. It allows readers to develop a clear understanding of the range of applicability of any given model, as well as its capabilities and limitations, and provides procedures for parameter identification along with key concepts necessary to solve boundary value problems, making it useful to both researchers and engineering practitioners. Although the book focuses on new contributions to modeling anisotropic materials, the review of the foundations of plasticity and models for isotropic materials, completed with detailed mathematical proofs mean that it is self-consistent and accessible to graduate students in engineering mechanics and material sciences.
