Download or read book Proceedings of the European Workshop on Mechanical Plaque Control written by Niklaus Peter Lang and published by Quintessence Publishing (IL). This book was released on 1998 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In May 1998, a 4-day workshop was held to consider the role of mechanical plaque control, whether supplemented with chemical agents or not, in the prevention and treatment of dental caries and periodontitis. The proceedings of this workshop should serve as a follow-up to those of the NIDR's landmark 1985 workshop, until now widely regarded as the definitive source for state-of-the-science information on this important issue. The 1998 proceedings combines the reports of all four sessions, including all position papers, consensus reports, and policy statements. An excellent resource for clinicians and dental hygienists alike. [editor].

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Prevention is always better than cure." By prevention of any disease we can get rid of the consequences which might be evolved if the disease has developed. Thus, the best method of prevention of the gingival and periodontal disease is PLAQUE CONTROL. Plaque Control refers to all the measures taken by both the patient and dental team to prevent accumulation of bacterial plaque and other deposits on tooth adjacent gingival surface. Plaque control is one of the milestone of dentistry, without which, oral health can neither be attained, nor preserved. Thus, for healthy periodontium, plaque control means the preservation of health; for periodontal disease, it means optimal healing, following treatment; and last but not the least for the patient treated for periodontal disease; plaque control means the prevention of recurrence of disease.
