The purpose of this review by the Auditor General was to determine how well the Ministry of Education has developed processes for managing the Seismic Mitigation Program. Specific items addressed include whether the Ministry of Education has set up: a policy framework that provides adequate support, direction and guidance for structural and non-structural mitigation programs; a process for making rational choices in seismic mitigation programs; processes for adequately monitoring, evaluating and adjusting seismic mitigation programs; and processes for creating a transparent and ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and the public. The report contains a response to the Auditor General's findings by the Ministry of Education as well as details of the history of school seismic mitigation in British Columbia and of the Ministry of Education's existing program.--Includes text from document.
