The book discusses and considers how school districts relate to state agencies on regulatory, fiscal, and support bases. It also addresses questions important to school district officials, principals, architects, contractors, and others engaged in projects which require long-term management. The work is unique in that both organizational points of view and individual roles are presented.

Book Problems in Planning Urban School Facilities

Download or read book Problems in Planning Urban School Facilities written by William W. Chase and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increase in the population of the United States and the rapid movement of people from rural to urban areas continue to create many problems in the great cities. Overcrowding of residential areas, congestion of streets and highways, increased demands for city services, and the changing social patterns of cities contribute to these problems. To solve them, immediate and long-range goals must be cooperatively established and striven for. Even though many of the legally constituted agencies such as the school systems, boards of health, highway departments, city planning commissions, and others are quite independent of one another, there is an essence of interdependence necessary to successful planning. Each agency would be in a better position to fulfill its own functions· and objectives if it had an awareness of the problems of the other agencies. This study, an attempt to identify characteristic problems in planning school facilities in metropolitan central cities, is one effort to acquaint the various planning groups with at least one phase of this very important and overall community interest.

Book School District Master Planning

Download or read book School District Master Planning written by Kelley D. Carey and published by R&L Education. This book was released on 2011-09-16 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is school district master planning? This book explains how this planning is done, using a proven process, not theories. The process helps you avoid cost overruns, public outrage, repeated redistricting, and classrooms built in wrong places that all represent poor planning. Planning tools, steps and process check lists are discussed in rich detail, using actual case studies and the planning triangle of programs, demographics and facilities. Process roles are explained for district staff, consultants, and the public at each step. Steps are clearly explained for acquiring, analyzing, and applying critical data to drive planning to redistrict, build, close, renovate or expand schools. Steps are carefully explained for developing the comprehensive masterplan and getting it implemented on time and within budget. This book pulls no punches as to what usually goes wrong and why, along with what must be done, step by step, to avoid such mistakes. It is a guide to developing a district master plan that will work out for the long term and promote public support for public education.

Book PK 12 Public Educational Facilities Master Plan Evaluation Guide

Download or read book PK 12 Public Educational Facilities Master Plan Evaluation Guide written by 21st Century School Fund and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 11 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proper planning of school facilities is critical for all school districts no matter how large or small, whether major construction is in the works or the district is managing enrollment declines. When school districts properly plan for their school facilities they have better schools, more public use and higher value for public spending. This evaluation guide was designed for superintendents and school boards that are called on to develop or sign off on plans, but who generally may not have extensive experience with educational facility planning. It can also be used to help community members participate in high quality educational facility planning. An Educational Facilities Master Plan is a written document that describes the school district's real estate and capital improvement requirements and its strategy and school specific plans for meeting these requirements over a 6-10 year period. On the real estate side, educational facility master plan elements will address the space needs for schools, administration and logistics, including proposed site selection, school closings and consolidations, attendance boundary changes, leasing, joint use and co-locations. On the capital improvement side, educational facility master plan elements will include: the justification, scope, schedule and estimated cost for major repairs, modernization and new construction.
