Loney's Plane Trigonometry (Part One) This book is a solutions manual to accompany the textbook of Plane Trigonometry Part One by S. L. Loney. Detailed solutions to all the problems and exercises are provided. Written in a problem-solution format, this acts as an independent study guide to plane trigonometry. These solutions strengthen and enliven the inherent multi-concepts to enrich the heritage set forth by S. L. Loney. The present work will serve as a complete guide to private students reading the subject with few or no opportunities of instruction. This will save the time and lighten the work of Teachers as well. This book helps in acquiring a better understanding of the basic principles of Plane Trigonometry and in revising a large amount of the subject matter quickly. Care has been taken, as in the forthcoming ones, to present the solutions with multi-concepts and beyond in a simple natural manner, in order to meet the difficulties which are most likely to arise, and to render the work intelligible and instructive. Chandra Shekhar Kumar is Co-Founder of Ancient Science Publishers and Founder of Ancient Kriya Yoga Mission. He holds a degree of Integrated M.Sc.(5 yrs) in Physics from IIT Kanpur, India.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic text encompasses the most important aspects of plane and spherical trigonometry in a question-and-answer format. Its 913 specially selected questions appear with detailed answers that help readers refresh their trigonometry skills or clear up difficulties in particular areas. Questions and answers in the first part discuss plane trigonometry, proceeding to examinations of special problems in navigation, surveying, elasticity, architecture, and various fields of engineering. The final section explores spherical trigonometry and the solution of spherical triangles, with applications to terrestrial and astronomical problems. Readers can test their progress with 1,738 problems, many of which feature solutions. 1946 edition. 494 figures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Spherical trigonometry was at the heart of astronomy and ocean-going navigation for two millennia. The discipline was a mainstay of mathematics education for centuries, and it was a standard subject in high schools until the 1950s. Today, however, it is rarely taught. Heavenly Mathematics traces the rich history of this forgotten art, revealing how the cultures of classical Greece, medieval Islam, and the modern West used spherical trigonometry to chart the heavens and the Earth."--Jacket.

Book Geometry with Trigonometry

Download or read book Geometry with Trigonometry written by Patrick D Barry and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2015-12-24 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geometry with Trigonometry Second Edition is a second course in plane Euclidean geometry, second in the sense that many of its basic concepts will have been dealt with at school, less precisely. It gets underway with a large section of pure geometry in Chapters 2 to 5 inclusive, in which many familiar results are efficiently proved, although the logical frame work is not traditional. In Chapter 6 there is a convenient introduction of coordinate geometry in which the only use of angles is to handle the perpendicularity or parallelism of lines. Cartesian equations and parametric equations of a line are developed and there are several applications. In Chapter 7 basic properties of circles are developed, the mid-line of an angle-support, and sensed distances. In the short Chaper 8 there is a treatment of translations, axial symmetries and more generally isometries. In Chapter 9 trigonometry is dealt with in an original way which e.g. allows concepts such as clockwise and anticlockwise to be handled in a way which is not purely visual. By the stage of Chapter 9 we have a context in which calculus can be developed. In Chapter 10 the use of complex numbers as coordinates is introduced and the great conveniences this notation allows are systematically exploited. Many and varied topics are dealt with , including sensed angles, sensed area of a triangle, angles between lines as opposed to angles between co-initial half-lines (duo-angles). In Chapter 11 various convenient methods of proving geometrical results are established, position vectors, areal coordinates, an original concept mobile coordinates. In Chapter 12 trigonometric functions in the context of calculus are treated. New to this edition: The second edition has been comprehensively revised over three years Errors have been corrected and some proofs marginally improved The substantial difference is that Chapter 11 has been significantly extended, particularly the role of mobile coordinates, and a more thorough account of the material is given Provides a modern and coherent exposition of geometry with trigonometry for many audiences across mathematics Provides many geometric diagrams for a clear understanding of the text and includes problem exercises for many chapters Generalizations of this material, such as to solid euclidean geometry and conic sections, when combined with calculus, would lead to applications in science, engineering, and elsewhere
