This book was released on 2016-09-29 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Technical Note discusses the findings and recommendations made in the Financial Sector Assessment Program for Ireland in the areas of nonbank sector stability. Both nonparametric and parametric methods suggest that the residential real estate market in Ireland is close to or moderately below its equilibrium level. Two standard metrics of price-to-income and price-to-rent ratios show that following a protracted period of overvaluation prior to the crisis and a correction afterward, the market has been close to its equilibrium level in recent quarters. Households have deleveraged, but are still highly indebted. The stability analysis results also suggest that vulnerabilities among nonfinancial firms have moderated in recent years.

Book Globalization on the Margins 2nd Edition

Download or read book Globalization on the Margins 2nd Edition written by Iveta Silova and published by IAP. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 613 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reflecting on almost three decades of postsocialist transformations, the second edition of Globalization on the Margins explores continuities and changes in Central Asian education development since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, with a particular focus on the developments that took place since the production of the first edition in 2011. Rather than viewing these transformations in isolation, the authors place their analyses within the global context by reflecting on the interaction between Soviet legacies and global education reform pressures in the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. This new edition, in addition to a revised introduction and a newly added conclusion, consists of four thematic sections, each reflecting a key theme in the educational life of the Central Asian states. These thematic sections, introduction and conclusion collectively update our understanding of the recent developments and challenges in education of the five Central Asian states. They, however, go beyond mere information update, so as to complicate, re-engage, re-form and re-define the margins, taking up ‘margins’ a conceptual, geographic, cultural, and geo-political construct. Notwithstanding the diversity of local and international authors, variety of theoretical perspectives, methodological approaches, and conceptual lenses, the essays reveal the complexity and uncertainty of the post-socialist education transformations. Instead of portraying the transition process as the influx of Western ideas into the region, Globalization on the Margins provides new lenses to critically example education as a contested field of diverse perspectives, competing forces, and multidirectional flow of ideas, concepts, and reforms in Central Asia. ENDORSEMENTS: "Hindsight famously brings clarity. And, much of what happened after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union has now been correctly deeded over to historians. Nonetheless, we ignore that history at our peril. The contributors to this volume show that carefully textured and historically attuned education research generates deep insights into ongoing transformations and the political, cultural, social and economic structures, relations, and practices that do the work of producing margins and centers in the first place." ~ Noah W. Sobe, Loyola University Chicago "Globalization on the margins and at the epicentre of the battles of the Great Powers. Two excellent educators, Sarfaroz Niyozov and Iveta Silova, compiled a timely and long-awaited scholarly work based on empirical research in societies, which had similar history close to three decades ago. All the contributors are prolific educators who know the education system from within and without, who either hailed from the region or have spent a considerable amount of time to know the systems well. The book contains remarkable stories of education through the ups and downs of historical evolution. It is a must-read primer for anyone interested in learning about high quality research in the field of education in Central Asia. It is a huge contribution to educational research with an impact on research and teaching for years to come." ~ Duishon Shamatov, Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan "The challenge of moving Central Asia from the borders of the Soviet Empire to the world’s center is the focus of the discussions in ‘Globalization on the Margins.’ The transition to the Western models of education was happening in the context of major paradigm shift, which entire humanity was experiencing and which could be described as the arrival of the new post-industrial civilization. During this process, Central Asian countries have been pushed to the margins, because their contribution to the wealth of the new world know-how was much less pronounced than that of their Western neighbours. Therefore, investment into the research that contributes to local knowledge production seems a natural solution to the problem. All the contributors to this book have a vast experience in the region and many of their observations are thought provoking. This is a very insightful and much needed book." ~ Elena Lenskaya, Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences, Russia

Book Systems Analysis and Simulation II

Download or read book Systems Analysis and Simulation II written by Achim Sydow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume contains the papers which were accepted for presentation at the 3rd International Symposium for Systems Analysis and Simulation held in Berlin (GDR), September 12-:-16, 1988. It is already a tradition to meet a broad international community of experts in systems analysis, modelling and simulation at this symposium. This fact shows the requirements for a forum of presentation and discussion of new developments and applications of modelling and simulation in systems analysis. To realize the great interest in this field one has to take into consideration the developed role of computer simulation as a powerful tool of problem solving. More and more areas in sciences and production have been investigated by mathematical models and computer' simulation. Biological sciences and social sciences are even by now influenced by this trend. The model use on the computer has been very much improved in decision support systems. Parallel simulation will provide drastic shortening of computing time. Parallel simulation and model based decision support systems are brought in the focus of international activities. Numerical mathematics, systems theory and control sciences provide with algorithms supporting the modelling process itself based on simulation or analytic methods. Such simulation systems equipped with tools for modelling and graphics for representing results are real model support systems. A new important impact comes from artificial intelligence by knowledge processing. Expert systems may help decision making in case of missing mathematical models. Expert systems may also support teaching and using simulation systems.

Book Theory of Macroeconomic Policy

Download or read book Theory of Macroeconomic Policy written by Christopher Tsoukis and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-10-29 with total page 735 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of Macroeconomic Policy reviews the theoretical foundations of macroeconomic, fiscal, and monetary, policy. It offers a panoramic view of macroeconomic theory, covering a wide range of topics that are not customarily dealt with in macroeconomics texts, as well as more standard material. Advanced theory is bridged with more elementary or intermediate material, and established models are reviewed alongside current research directions. There is an extensive review of empirical evidence on virtually every topic, supplemented by narrative accounts for various episodes. The policy implications of the various theories are emphasised throughout. The chapters are largely self-contained so that different courses can focus at different places. A 'Guidance for Further Study' Section and extensive bibliography give plenty of ideas for all levels of independent study, from Undergraduate Projects to MSc Dissertations to PhD Theses. Theory of Macroeconomic Policy presents a balance between: breadth as well as depth; analytical treatment and intuition; theory and evidence; vintage theories and current directions; theory and policy; (established) theory and debate. Theory of Macroeconomic Policy is an affirmation that there is a well-developed body of theory that is invaluable for an in-depth understanding of the macro-economy and policy; equally, there is much scope for critical discussion and debate.

The quote holds true for all spheres & aspects of human life & business environment. The onset of the 21st Century brought itself the turbulence in the business environment that had far reaching effects. The subprime crises that originated in the USA took its toll on many financial giants & the ripples created are yet to calm down. Hence in this scenario no student of management can afford to remain oblivious of the factors that determine& affect the business environment. The students hence should be well versed with the background of the world economy now & then. Another important highlight of this era has been the process of liberalisation, privatisation & globalisation which have brought about wide challenges & opportunities in most of the countries. The emergence of China & India has been phenomenon & is expected to take over the United States as the largest economy of the world. The organisations have to retune their strategies & ways of doing business in order to take the advantage of these developments. It is because of these reasons that the Universities & Institutes have incorporated the subject of Business environment to be taught to the management students. An attempt is made here by the authors to assist the students by way of providing Study Material as per the curriculum with non-commercial considerations.
