Book Nuclear Pion Photoproduction

Download or read book Nuclear Pion Photoproduction written by Anton Nagl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photoproduction of pions from complex nuclei has become an investigative tool for (1) the detailed form of the elementary photopion amplitude, (2) the pion-nucleus optical potential, (3) nuclear structure, and (4) off-shell and medium effects on the elementary amplitude in nuclear processes. In this book, all these aspects are considered in detail. With improved experimental accuracy and beam tech- nology the study of nuclear pion photoproduction will break new ground and become an even more powerful investigative tool. This monograph is intended as an introductory guide as well as a reference manual for grad- uate students and researchers working in this important area of physics.

Book Adventures In Theoretical Physics Selected Papers With Commentaries

Download or read book Adventures In Theoretical Physics Selected Papers With Commentaries written by Stephen L Adler and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 761 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the period 1964-1972, Stephen L Adler wrote seminal papers on high energy neutrino processes, current algebras, soft pion theorems, sum rules, and perturbation theory anomalies that helped lay the foundations for our current standard model of elementary particle physics. These papers are reprinted here together with detailed historical commentaries describing how they evolved, their relation to other work in the field, and their connection to recent literature. Later important work by Dr Adler on a wide range of topics in fundamental theory, phenomenology, and numerical methods, and their related historical background, is also covered in the commentaries and reprints. This book will be a valuable resource for graduate students and researchers in the fields in which Dr Adler has worked, and for historians of science studying physics in the final third of the twentieth century, a period in which an enduring synthesis was achieved.

Book Neutral Pion Photoproduction at High Energies

Download or read book Neutral Pion Photoproduction at High Energies written by and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Regge model with absorptive corrections is employed in a global analysis of the world data on the reactions Å pâ R0p and Å nâ R0n for photon energies from 3 to 18 GeV. In this region resonance contributions are expected to be negligible so that the available experimental information on differential cross sections and single- and double polarization observables at td2 GeV2 allows us to determine the non-resonant part of the reaction amplitude reliably. The model amplitude is then used to predict observables for photon energies below 3 GeV. A detailed comparison with recent data from the CLAS and CB-ELSA Collaborations in that energy region is presented. Furthermore, the prospects for determining the R0 radiative decay width via the Primakoff effect from the reaction Å pâ R0p are explored.

Book Regge Approach to Charged pion Photoproduction at Invariant Energies Above 2 GeV

Download or read book Regge Approach to Charged pion Photoproduction at Invariant Energies Above 2 GeV written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Regge model with absorptive corrections is employed in a global analysis of the world data on positive and negative pion photoproduction for photon energies from 3 to 8~GeV. In this region resonance contributions are expected to be negligible so that the available experimental information on differential cross sections and single polarization observables at $-t{\leq}2$ GeV$^2$ allows us to determine the non-resonant part of the reaction amplitude reliably. The model amplitude is then used to predict observables for photon energies below $3$ GeV. Differences between our predictions and data in this energy region are systematically examined as possible signals for the presence of excited baryons. We find that the data available for the polarized photon asymmetry show promising resonance signatures at invariant energies around 2~GeV. With regard to differential cross sections the analysis of negative pion photoproduction data, obtained recently at JLab, indicates likewise the presence of resonance structures around 2~GeV.
