Book Stagerred dropped and circular Pin Fins in 1D and 2D forced convection

Download or read book Stagerred dropped and circular Pin Fins in 1D and 2D forced convection written by Nishigandh Gorade and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2023-10-17 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2018 in the subject Engineering - Mechanical Engineering, grade: 7.38, Savitribai Phule Pune University, formerly University of Pune (D.Y Patil School of Engineering), course: Master of Engineering, language: English, abstract: In this experimental analysis of heat transfer variation and its enhancement of the dropped and circular shapes, staggered pin fin heat sink under constant heat flux condition are presented through a conducted experimental comparison between aluminium, stainless steel and iron materials with circular and dropped shaped pin fins. A pin fin is fabricated from heat sink aluminium (Aluminium-Magnesium-Silicon Alloy), Stainless steel and ferrous material with a diameter of 10 mm. The Base plate is also same material and fins are mounted on a base plate with the help of a thread. Various trials were conducted on each material for choosing the best materials for more heat transfer. Also, to choose which is the best shape of pin fins i.e. circular or dropped for enhancing maximum heat transfer. Also, trials were conducted to find out from forced convection from 2D or 1D which is more capable to transferring heat transfer and therefore to choose the best flow of heat transfer model. The total comparison between circular and dropped shaped pin fins was performed in this experimental analysis. Finally the results were validated by using ANSYS R14.5 simulation tool.

Book Study of Forced Convection Heat Transfer from an Array of Elliptical Pin Fin Heat Sink

Download or read book Study of Forced Convection Heat Transfer from an Array of Elliptical Pin Fin Heat Sink written by Independently Published and published by . This book was released on 2018-08-16 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In modernization, heat sink plays a key role to enhance heat transfer. A heat sink is a device which helps to dissipate the heat from heated surface using direct contact or radiant thermal contact. Heat sinks are basically used to enhance the heat transfer from the heated surface to eliminate the effect of overheating or burning. The heat sinks made up of copper and aluminum and directly attached to the heated surface. Extended surfaces are commonly used to improve the heat transfer in many industries. The extended surface of heat sink helps to increase the surface area in contact with air. It maintains the thermal stability of the system in limits for every electrical and electronic component of any system. There are different kinds of heat sink with different fin geometries and operating with natural or forced convection. Most of the work has been done on rectangular pin fin and circular pin fin under natural and forced convection. In present work, the modeling and fabrication is done on elliptical heat sink and perforated elliptical heat sink with circular perforation. In this work different wattages (100, 150, 200 and 250 W) are used with Reynolds number ranging from 8400 to 21000. The various flow velocities used are 4m/sec, 6m/sec, 8m/sec and 10m/sec. The perforation is done in the middle of the pin fin to achieve maximum heat transfer. The overall performance of the pin fin heat sink is affected by the perforation. In present study the experiment analysis is performed w.r.t the heat transfer coefficient, temperature variation and nusselt number for heat sinks. In experiment the working fluid is used as air. In the present work two different arrangements: elliptical pin fin heat sink and perforated elliptical pin fin heat sink are selected. Within the Reynolds number range 8400 to 21000 perforated elliptical pin fin heat has higher heat transfer coefficient in comparison to elliptical pin fin heat sink. The temperature variation in perforated elliptical pin fin heat sink is more as compare to other one. It was observe that the Nusselt number is directly proportional to the number of perforations. As the number perforation or perforation size increases the heat transfer coefficient also increases.

Download or read book Experimental Evaluation of Heat Flow Through Staggered Pin Fin Array by Forced Convection written by Nicholson Anak Jambok and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental evaluation of heat flow through staggered pin fin array by forced convection was set up in the thermodynamics laboratory for purpose of thesis study. All the main parameters that can significantly influence the heat transfer performance of staggered pin fin arrays have been examined thoroughly. An experimental set-up was designed to study the heat transfer performance inside the duct channel. The material is used in laboratory is called mild steel and its fins assembly with the plate heater. The pin fins was cylindrical in shape. The total number of fin was 23 fins attached on the base of the plate heater. The length of the fin was 12 cm with the diameter of 1 cm. The base area covered 9.5 cm x 9.3 cm. The transverse pitch, longitudinal pitch, and the diagonal pitch were 2cm, 2cm, and 1.5 cm respectively. Air was used as a working fluid in the experiment. Reynolds Number, Nusselt Number, and the Prandtl Number are the equations that use in heat transfer calculation. The result of findings will be taken into further experimentation through some critical results, discussion and conclusion.
