This event triggered an intensive multi-wavelength observational campaign, from the radio to gamma-rays, and theoreticians have been presented with a wealth of high-quality data. A workshop was held at Keele University, UK, from 12-14 June 2007 to discuss the observations, their interpretation, and where RS Ophiuchi sits in the wider astrophysical picture. The workshop brought together observers, from gamma-ray to radio wavelengths, theoreticians, and workers in closely related areas. The workshop considered not only the 2006 eruption of RS Oph but also the implications that this has had for our understanding of other much broader areas of astrophysics. It was wide ranging, taking in the environments of red giants; supernova progenitors; accretion, thermonuclear processes and evolution of close binary systems; and shocks of jets, as well as recurrent novae and related objects. There were recently some interesting theories that are not widely known that could shape our future of quantum mechanics and its application. A new understanding is brought that deserves to be promoted worldwide. The authors aim in this book to highlight these new issues and share them with researchers and educators who are highly involved in the foundation of quantum mechanics and its application. The book consists of twelve chapters involving theory, analysis and applications. Chapter One deals with some recent progress in the theory and analytical tools of quadratic optomechanical interactions, as one of the prominent domains of contemporary nonlinear quantum optics. Chapter Two introduces a new quantum mechanics that beautifully merges Schrodinger, Dirac and Klein-Gordon equations into a single quaternionic equation. The formulation of this quantum mechanics shares the one developed in Maxwells theory. Chapter Three is concerned with developing a nonrelativistic and relativistic quantum theory of the photoeffect in the form of ionization of the atom, which is the extension of the old theory of the photoeffect. In Chapter Four, based on the analogy with the classical continuity equation, the equations of Fick and Hamilton-Jacobi, a nonlinear differential equation is derived that describes the mechanical evolution of matter as a primary fluid. In Chapter Five, a quantization of general linear dissipative systems is discussed. In Chapter Six, a quantization process that circumvents the use of the Hamiltonian approach and derives the Schrodinger equation from its first principles is developed. The remaining chapters deal with a complementary understanding on quantum mechanics from a bio-psychological perspective that helps better elucidate the weird aspects of the measurement problem in quantum mechanics, since physics in general depends on observation and interpretation, which are bio-psychological functions. Treating a symmetry as a foundational concept, quantum mechanics and measurement axioms based on abstraction of physical entities by their symmetries is reformulated. Fundamental questions, like Is quantum mechanics really timeless? are raised. Questions related to the relationship between theories and models in science are investigated. Fundamental issues to describe the main elements of a possible theory of fractional probability, which could deal with defects in observation or defect in definition are analyzed. Bohmian quantum mechanics with novel reinterpretations that provide a new understanding of quantum mechanics is advocated.

In Chapter 1, Neetik and Amlan have discussed the recent progresses of information theoretic tools in the context of free and confined harmonic oscillator. Confined quantum systems have provided appreciable interest in areas of physics, chemistry, biology, etc., since its inception. A particle under extreme pressure environment unfolds many fascinating, notable physical and chemical changes. The desired effect is achieved by reducing the spatial boundary from infinity to a finite region. Similarly, in the last decade, information measures were investigated extensively in diverse quantum problems, in both free and constrained situations. The most prominent amongst these are: Fisher information, Shannon entropy, Renyi entropy, Tsallis entropy, Onicescu energy and several complexities. Arguably, these are the most effective measures of uncertainty, as they do not make any reference to some specific points of a respective Hilbert space. These have been invoked to explain several physic-chemical properties of a system under investigation. Kullback Leibler divergence or relative entropy describes how a given probability distribution shifts from a reference distribution function. This characterizes a measure of discrimination between two states. In other words, it extracts the change of information in going from one state to another. In Chapter 2, Nabakumar, Subhasree, and Paulami have revisited classical-quantum correspondence in the context of linear Simple Harmonic Oscillator (SHO). According to Bohr's correspondence principle, quantum mechanically calculated results match with the classically expected results when quantum number is very high. Classical quantum correspondence may also be visualized in the limit when the action integral is much greater than Planck's constant. When de-Broglie wave length associated with a particle is much larger than system size, then quantum mechanical results also match with the classical results. In the context of dynamics, Ehrenfest equation of motion is used in quantum domain, which is analogous to classical Newton's equation of motion. SHO is one of the most important systems for several reasons. It is one of the few exactly solvable problems. Any stable molecular potential can be approximated by SHO near the equilibrium point. This builds the foundation for the understanding of complex modes of vibration in large molecules, the motion of atoms in a solid lattice, the theory of heat capacity, vibration motion of nuclei in molecule etc. The authors have revisited the common solution techniques and important properties of both classical and quantum linear SHO. Then they focused on probability distribution, quantum mechanical tunneling, classical and quantum dynamics of position, momentum and their actuations, viral theorems, etc. and also analyzed how quantum mechanical results finally tend to classical results in the high quantum number limit. In Chapter 3, Neeraj has discussed the nature of atomic motions, sometimes referred to as lattice vibrations. The lattice dynamics deals with the vibrations of the atoms inside the crystals. In order to write the dynamic equations of the motion of crystal atoms, we need to describe an inter-atomic interaction. Therefore, it is natural to start the study of the lattice dynamics with the case of small harmonic vibrations. The dynamics of one-dimensional and two-dimensional vibrations of monatomic and diatomic crystals can be understood by using the simple model forces based on harmonic approximation. This harmonic approximation is related to a simple ball-spring model. According to this model, each atom is coupled with the neighboring atoms by spring constants. The collective motion of atoms leads to a distinct traveling wave over the whole crystal, leading to the collective motion, so-called phonon. The simple ball-spring model enlightens us some of the significant common features of lattice dynamics that have been discussed throughout this chapter. Further, this chapter helps in understanding the quantization energy of a harmonic oscillation and the concept of phonon"--

New relativistic wave equations without redundant components for the particle-antiparticle doublets of arbitrary spin are considered. The comparison with known arbitrary spin equations of Bhabha, Bargman-Wigner and with Pauli-Fierz, Rarita-Schwinger equations (for the spin s=3/2) demonstrates the advantages of the presented approach. The special procedure of synthesis of higher spin relativistic wave equations is suggested. New equations are considered on three levels of (i) relativistic canonical quantum mechanics, (ii) canonical Foldy-Wouthuysen type field theory, and (iii) manifestly covariant field theory. The derivation of field equations based on the start from the relativistic canonical quantum mechanics is given. The corresponding transition operator, which is the extended Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation, is suggested and described. This model of relativistic quantum mechanics is described here on the level of von Neumann's consideration of non-relativistic case. The Lagrange approach for the spinor field in the Foldy-Wouthuysen representation is analyzed. The proof of the Fermi-Bose duality property of a few main equations of field theory, which before were known to have only single Fermi (or single Bose) property, is given. Hidden Bose properties (symmetry, solutions, and conservation laws) of the Dirac equation are proved. Both cases of non-zero and zero mass are considered. New useful mathematical objects, which are the pure matrix representations of the 64-dimensional Clifford and 28-dimensional SO(8) algebras over the field of real numbers, are put into consideration. The application of such algebras to the Dirac and Dirac-like equations properties analysis is demonstrated. Fermi and Bose SO(4) symmetries of the relativistic hydrogen atom are found. New symmetries and solutions of the Maxwell equations are considered. The Maxwell equations in the form, having maximal symmetry, are suggested and described. The application of such field-strength equations to the atomic microworld phenomena is demonstrated. On the basis of such Maxwell system the relativistic hydrogen atom spectrum and quantum properties of this atom are described. The Sommerfeld-Dirac fine structure formula, Plank constant and the Bohr postulates are derived in the frameworks of classical electrodynamics. The limits and boarders of classical physics applications in inneratomic microworld are discussed. In order to determine the place of our approach among other investigations the 26 variants of the Dirac equation derivation are considered.

This problem is interested also for applications (e.g., problem of controlled thermo-nuclear reactions in magneto-plasmas traps as main source for energy in near future for the Earth's Civilization). 2. The Magnetosphere is the nearest giant natural laboratory where with satellites and ground measurements is possible to investigate different plasmas and energetic processes in space caused by interaction of high kinetic energy solar wind plasmas with frozen in Interplanetary Magnetic Fields--ƯIMF and its perturbations (Interplanetary Coronal Mass Ejections--UICMEs, Interplanetary Shock Waves--UISWs, Interplanetary Interaction Regions--UIIRs, and so on) with the rotated main geomagnetic field. This interaction leads to a dynamic transformation of magnetic fields in the Magnetosphere, formation Space Magnetic Traps (Radiation Belts), generation and trapping of high energy particles (which can be called Magnetospheric Cosmic Rays--UMCR), and generation of different types of instabilities and electromagnetic radiations. These processes are similar to processes in magnetospheres of other planets and their moons, in the atmosphere of the Sun and other stars, in interplanetary and in interstellar space, and in many different astrophysical objects in the Universe. This research presents an important basis for fundamental space in frame of Astrophysics, Plasma Physics and Magneto-Hydrodynamics, Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Geophysics. 3. In modern time, technology, economics, navigation, TV, internet, radio-connections, military aspects, and the life of people on our planet are strongly connected by the work of many satellites moving inside the Magnetosphere. Different processes and MCR in the magnetosphere influence how the satellites work and often lead to satellite malfunctions, sometimes completely destroying their electronics and satellites become 'dead'. The described research can be considered as a basis for developing methods of forecasting dangerous situations for satellites on different orbits and to decrease the risk of satellite malfunctions and of losing them. It means that this research has important practical applications. 4. The interaction of ICME, ISW, and IIR with the Magnetosphere leads to the generation of big magnetic storms accompanied by Cosmic Ray Forbush--decrease and precursory effects in Galactic Cosmic Ray (GCR) intensity. These magnetic storms are dangerous, not only for satellites, but also for Earth's surface regarding technology, radio-connections, car accidents, and human health (e.g., increasing frequency of infarct myocardial and brain strokes). Investigation of causes of magnetic storms can help to develop methods of their forecasting and decrease the level of magnetic storm hazards. Therefore, the other practical application of this research is connected with the problem of space weather and space climate influence on the technology, radio-connections, navigation, transportation, and human health on the Earth in dependence of altitude and geomagnetic latitude"--
