There are several ways to treat arthritis, which includes a combination of occupational therapy, regular exercise, a nutrient-rich diet, physical therapy, etc. Lotions containing menthol or capsaicin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), analgesics and other medications are also used to treat arthritis. The patient was evaluated with a goniometer for range of motion, manual muscle test for strength, and numeric pain rating scale for pain at the body structure and function level. The Lower Extremity Functional Scale was used to assess the patient's activity level. Interventions provided were manual therapy, strength training, patient education, and functional training. The patient improved left hip range of motion, strength, pain, and lower extremity function. He was discharged to home with a home exercise program.
