Book Properties of Organic Solvents

Download or read book Properties of Organic Solvents written by David R. Lide and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-09-13 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Use this database to instantly locate the compound you need! This electronic database covers 564 of the most common solvents used in industry, academic research, and general commerce. These organic solvents find applications as carriers for paints, medications, cleaning agents, and a host of other active ingredients. Health hazards and safety guidelines are covered, including the limiting values for airborne exposure, carcinogenicity status, flammability, and various official hazard ratings. With this flexible and powerful electronic reference, the user can easily and quickly select a solvent that meets his or her criteria for a particular application. For example, the user can specify desired physical properties and required safety levels and get back a list of solvents that conform to all the requirements. Searches ranging from the very simple (one or two specifications) to the very complex (a large combination of requirements that must be met) are easily performed with this database. System requirements: IBM 486 or higher compatible computer with 40MB hard disk (12MB free capacity), 4MB RAM, VGA Monitor (color), MS DOS 3.3 or higher, WindowsTM 3.1 or higher or Windows 95, external or internal CD-ROM drive. (Will normally run to a lower performance standard on IBM 386 and/or less hard disk and RAM capacity than those stated above)

Book excerpt: The Properties of Solvents Yizhak Marcus Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel The Properties of Solvents contains extensively annotated tables of physical, chemical and related properties for over 250 solvents. Factual knowledge of solvent effects on solvation, solubility, chemical equilibria and reaction rate is important for theoretical and practical applications. This volume will enable chemists to choose solvents rationally, taking into account solvent properties and the expected results. The Properties of Solvents is a valuable source of information for all who are interested in the behaviour of solutions. These include solution, organic, analytical and physical chemists. Contents * Introduction * Solvent effects * Physical properties * Chemical properties * Applications The Wiley Series in Solution Chemistry fills the increasing need to present authoritative, comprehensive and fully up-to-date accounts of the many aspects of solution chemistry. Internationally recognized experts from research or teaching institutions in various countries are invited to contribute to the series.

Book Handbook of Organic Solvent Properties

Download or read book Handbook of Organic Solvent Properties written by Ian Smallwood and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The properties of 72 of the most commonly used solvents are given, tabulated in the most convenient way, making this book a joy for industrial chemists to use as a desk reference. The properties covered are those which answer the basic questions of: Will it do the job? Will it harm the user? Will it pollute the air? Is it easy to handle? Will it pollute the water? Can it be recovered or incinerated? These are all factors that need to be considered at the early stages of choosing a solvent for a new product or process. Book Handbook of Physical Chemical Properties and Environmental Fate for Organic Chemicals Second Edition

Download or read book Handbook of Physical Chemical Properties and Environmental Fate for Organic Chemicals Second Edition written by Donald Mackay and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-03-14 with total page 1000 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transport and transformation processes are key for determining how humans and other organisms are exposed to chemicals. These processes are largely controlled by the chemicals’ physical-chemical properties. This new edition of the Handbook of Physical-Chemical Properties and Environmental Fate for Organic Chemicals is a comprehensive series in four volumes that serves as a reference source for environmentally relevant physical-chemical property data of numerous groups of chemical substances. The handbook contains physical-chemical property data from peer-reviewed journals and other valuable sources on over 1200 chemicals of environmental concern. The handbook contains new data on the temperature dependence of selected physical-chemical properties, which allows scientists and engineers to perform better chemical assessments for climatic conditions outside the 20–25-degree range for which property values are generally reported. This second edition of the Handbook of Physical-Chemical Properties and Environmental Fate for Organic Chemicals is an essential reference for university libraries, regulatory agencies, consultants, and industry professionals, particularly those concerned with chemical synthesis, emissions, fate, persistence, long-range transport, bioaccumulation, exposure, and biological effects of chemicals in the environment. This resource is also available on CD-ROM
