Book Photocatalytic Production of Energy Rich Compounds

Download or read book Photocatalytic Production of Energy Rich Compounds written by G. Grassi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2003-09-02 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This workshop comprises part of the four-year (1985-1988) non-nuclear energy R & D programme for the development of renewable energy sources which is being implemented by the Commission of the European Communities. The aim of the workshop was to present work by the contracting laboratories in addition to work by numerous other research laboratories in 11 European countries. Extensive discussions were also held on the present state of this basic, directed research in photochemistry, photoelectrochemistry and photobiology, and where the future emphasis may usefully lie. Thus the book presents the proceedings of all the papers presented and summarizes the recommendations made by the participants as to where future research support may be most effectively placed. It was emphasized in these recommendations that the interdisciplinary collaboration between photochemistry and photobiology had been quite successfully achieved in this European programme. There were both high quality basic research and practical benefits accruing from the work, and these are described in the report on proposed areas for future research. This book contains work reported by 30 leading researchers and laboratories in Europe. The contents parallels and overlaps research in photovoltaics and semiconductors and therefore provides a unique link and basis of information across the field of photovoltaics, semiconductors and photosynthesis.

Book Heterogeneous Photocatalysis

Download or read book Heterogeneous Photocatalysis written by Juan Carlos Colmenares and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-24 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book explains the principles and fundamentals of photocatalysis and highlights the current developments and future potential of the green-chemistry-oriented applications of various inorganic, organic, and hybrid photocatalysts. The book consists of eleven chapters, including the principles and fundamentals of heterogeneous photocatalysis; the mechanisms and dynamics of surface photocatalysis; research on TiO2-based composites with unique nanostructures; the latest developments and advances in exploiting photocatalyst alternatives to TiO2; and photocatalytic materials for applications other than the traditional degradation of pollutants, such as carbon dioxide reduction, water oxidation, a complete spectrum of selective organic transformations and water splitting by photocatalytic reduction. In addition, heterogeneized polyoxometalate materials for photocatalytic purposes and the proper design of photocatalytic reactors and modeling of light are also discussed. This book appeals to a wide readership of the academic and industrial researchers and it can also be used in the classroom for undergraduate and graduate students focusing on heterogeneous photocatalysis, sustainable chemistry, energy conversion and storage, nanotechnology, chemical engineering, environmental protection, optoelectronics, sensors, and surface and interface science. Juan Carlos Colmenares is a Professor at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland. Yi-Jun Xu is a Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Photocatalysis on Energy and Environment, College of Chemistry, Fuzhou University, China.

Book Photoelectrochemistry Photocatalysis and Photoreactors Fundamentals and Developments

Download or read book Photoelectrochemistry Photocatalysis and Photoreactors Fundamentals and Developments written by Mario Schiavello and published by Springer. This book was released on 1985-02-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book collects the lectures delivered by the Authors during the NATO ASI "Fundamentals and Developments of Photocatalytic and Photoelectrochemical Processes", held in Erice (Trapani, Italy) from May 20th to June 2nd 1984. The ASI was devoted to the general field of photochemical conversion and storage of solar energy. It had the aim of defining the "state of art" and of outlining perspectives, lines of development and practic al utilization of this form of energy. The world energy crisis has stimulated scientists to investigate new routes for finding and testing methods and processes for obtaining renewable and cheap sources of energy. Within this framework, the possibility of solar energy utilization on a large scale must overcome the stage of discovering efficient processes for the photochemical conversion and for the storage. The most promising way for achieving this goal seems the photosplitting of water and related reactions. The methods for obtaining the water photosplitting are essentially based on photoelectrochemical cells and on photocatalytic systems (gas-solid and gas-liquid-solid). Extensive research work is currently done all over the world both in universities and in industrial laboratories in these areas. The ASI has given to the audience a general view of the fundamental aspects and as much as possible a detailed insight of the various methods and processes. A section has been also devoted to the photoreactors, a field in which the interest is ix x FOREWORD steadily increasing and whose development is essential for the practical exploitation of the various methods.

Book Photochemical Conversion and Storage of Solar Energy

Download or read book Photochemical Conversion and Storage of Solar Energy written by E. PELIZZETTI and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book collects the lectures and the status reports delivered during the "Eighth International Conference on Photochemical Conversion and Storage of Solar Energy", IPS-8, held in Palermo (Italy) from 15th to 20th of July 1990. As usual, the main theme of the Conference was that of making the point about the trends and the developments of the studies related to the photochemical exploitation of solar energy and also to report the main lines of potential applications. Therefore the contributions reflect this point; they vary from those reporting basic and fundamental theories to those reporting cases of possible applications. For the sake of following the logical line which links each other the various contributions, we report the six areas in which the main theme of the conference was devided: (a) Electron and energy transfer in homogeneous and heterogeneous systems; (b) Photosynthesis: organized assemblies and biomimetic systems; (c) Photoelectrochemistry; (d) Photocatalysis: homogeneous and heterogeneous regime; (e) Environment: photochemical and photocatalytic processes; (f) Solar energy materials and photochemical engineering. It remains now to thank persons and institutions which made possible the organization of the Conference. The persons to thank are all the members of the International and National Organizing Committees and in particular Prof. A.Sclafani and Dr. L.Palmisano whose efforts were essential for the success of the Conference.

Book Nanophotocatalysis and Environmental Applications

Download or read book Nanophotocatalysis and Environmental Applications written by Inamuddin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-03-29 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents photocatalysis as a state-of-art technology in energy production and conversion. The ever increasing demand for energy with growing economies has led to a dearth of energy sources. The exhaustive dependability on non-renewable resources of energy has not just depleted them but also lead to the birth of secondary problems such as pollution and climate change. The photoactive processes have opened a new window for the production of green energy and helped in environmental sustainability. The harnessing of renewable sources especially sun and water for fuel production and noxious gases reduction solve both the issues of pollution mitigation and energy crisis.
