Le présent ouvrage propose donc une présentation des axes principaux de la réflexion philosophique qui a accompagné sa vie, quelques textes majeurs en langue anglaise et en traduction française, un lexique des concepts inventés ou réinventés par lui. Il pourra précéder ou accompagner la découverte des œuvres d’un esprit critique particulièrement ingénieux, d’un philosophe nuancé, certainement très utile aujourd’hui. Philippe Saltel est professeur de philosophie morale à l’Université Grenoble-Alpes. Ses travaux en histoire de l’éthique philosophique l’ont aussi conduit à traduire plusieurs ouvrages de Hume, à écrire un Vocabulaire de Hume, à diriger ou co-diriger plusieurs recueils d’articles consacrés à cet auteur.
