This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phil Dunn, founder of the Naval Wargaming Society and author, presents his World War II era campaign rules. This book documents the rules for one of the classic wargaming campaigns of early British Wargaming. Phil Dunn created global wargames using simple rules to allow players to run large scale world wars. Each player prioritises their production between naval, air and land forces and then decides on which units to build. Straightforward rules are used to control movement on the maps and arbitrate combat in the three domains of warfare. The battles can be resolved using dice rolls or, for critical battles, transferred to be fought out on the table top. The book also includes two smaller games which are eminently suitable for a solo wargamer; The Battle of Britain and Operation Sealion. This is Phil Dunn's third wargaming book. The History of Wargaming Project is edited by John Curry. It aims to present the very best wargaming books and rules to a modern audience.

Download or read book Phil Dunn s Fury at Sea Rapid Naval Wargaming Including Paddy Griffith s One Eyed Napoleonic Naval Rules written by John Curry and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phil Dunn, author of the classic naval wargaming book, Sea Battles, has written a new book on rapid naval wargames. Chapters include fast play rules that allow even the largest battles to be fought to a satisfying conclusion in a single session. In 1916, Jutland was a 'no-hoper' for the Germans. This was not true earlier in the war. The scenario is for a classic war-deciding encounter set in 1915. During the late 1920's, the USA made plans for war with Britain. The rules and scenario allow this classic 'what if' scenario of the Royal Navy to be set against the United States Navy. The outcome would have changed the political map of the world and the course of the 20th century. Also included are memories of a lifetime of naval wargaming, The book is supplemented by Paddy Griffith's One-eyed Napoleonic Naval Rules as used by the Royal Military Academy's Wargaming Club. Also included is an example of Paddy Griffith's naval wargaming scenario for the Battle of the Nile in 1798.

Book United States Naval War College Manual Wargaming 1969

Download or read book United States Naval War College Manual Wargaming 1969 written by John Curry and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-10-09 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As part of the History of Wargaming Project's continuing wargaming 'archaeology', agreement was given to publish this set of rules as an example of the US Naval War College's use of wargaming as part of their curriculum in 1969. What is interesting about this set of rules is they are complete and they have a sample scenario which helps illuminate the thinking of the wargame designers. There are straightforward rules for surface-to-air missiles (SAMs), gunnery, air, torpedoes and mines etc. The use of these rules is clearly illustrated in the sample game. The rules were clearly written for others to play the game, even in the absence of the game designers. The sample game gives the background and briefings and the two sides ORBATs. Then it sets out the plans of the two sides. It goes on to set out how the game is setup, managed and played.

Book Phil Barker s Napoleonic Wargaming Rules 1685 1845 1979

Download or read book Phil Barker s Napoleonic Wargaming Rules 1685 1845 1979 written by John Curry and published by . This book was released on 2015-05-30 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1971, with a second edition in 1979, these rules were revolutionary for their time. They were written to allow wargamers to replay even the largest battles from the horse and musket era 1685-1845. This popular set of rules were in use primarily for Seven Years War and the Napoleonic Wars for over 25 years. The approximate ratio was 1 figure representing 40-50 men. This scale made it feasible to recreate historical battles upon the table top at the grand tactical level. Wargamers used them for Marlborough's battles, the Highland rebellions, the battles of Frederick the Great, in addition to the Seven Years War, the War of American Independence, campaigns in India, the French Revolutionary Wars and Napoleonic Wars. They rules included three pages of specimen army lists for Marlburian era, the Seven Years War and the early Indian Wars. The rules are published by the History of Wargaming Project as part of its work to make key developments in the hobby available again.
