Download or read book Photophysical and Photochemical Properties of Aromatic Compounds written by Jacob Malkin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1992-06-10 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photophysical and Photochemical Properties of Aromatic Compounds is the first book to collect and classify all available quantitative data on the photochemistry and luminescence of aromatic compounds. Compounds are classified by both spectral-luminescent (e.g., extinction coefficients, energies and lifetimes of lower excited states) and photochemical properties. In addition, all of the quantum yields available have been collected. The variety of photochemical reactions of aromatics is examined based on eight types of elementary monomolecular and bimolecular photochemical processes. Aromatic compounds are grouped into eight categories, and the book analyzes the possibilities of occurrence of all types of elementary photoprocesses.
Download or read book The Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds II written by R. Kreher and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds — II is a collection of plenary lectures presented at the Second International Symposium on the Chemistry of Nonbenzenoid Aromatic Compounds. Starting with a review of the synthesis and study of select heterocycles, the book includes results and developments in this area. A significant part of the reviews of nonbenzenoid aromatic compounds is the examination of annulenese that contain larger Huckel systems than benzene. The demand for better synthetic methods in the study has increased as bridged annulenes have been made for suitable models of testing theoretical concepts. Early studies on some nonbenzenoid aromatic compounds and the related problems are also discussed. A description of the syntheses of several polycyclic systems that contain potential cyclobutadiene rings follows. Studies are made on 8-oxoheptafulvene chemistry after earlier chemical and physical examination of heptafulvene and related compounds provided avenues for research. Some aspects of strained systems, [4]annulene and its Ch+adduct are reviewed in terms of usefulness when applying a theoretical guide, proving the calculations and experiments. Studies on higher membered annulenyl ions belonging to five groups are also discussed. Research chemists, students, and professors in chemistry and related fields such as organic chemistry will find this collection useful.
Download or read book Energy Transfer Parameters of Aromatic Compounds written by Isadore Berlman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Energy Transfer Parameters of Aromatic Compounds focuses on the mechanisms underlying intramolecular and intermolecular electronic energy transfer in aromatic compounds, with emphasis on dipole-dipole interactions. The compounds covered range from benzene and toluene to phenyl ether, aniline, phenol, styrene, indole, and dibenzofuran. This book is comprised of eight chapters and begins with an overview of the transfer of electronic energy in reactions in radiation, photochemistry, physics, and biology. A short historical sketch is also provided to give the reader a proper perspective of some of the concepts. Material diffusion or collisional transfer, energy migration, and solvent and host effects are explained, along with phenomenological processes such as singlet-singlet transfer and sensitized fluorescence. The discussion then turns to intermolecular and intramolecular electronic energy transfer, paying particular attention to radiation and radiationless transfer, conjugated and nonconjugated chromophores, and rare-earth chelates. Studies related to electronic energy transfer are also presented. The final chapter includes tables listing compounds in their numbered sequence. The spectroscopic data are taken on solutes that are soluble in cyclohexane. This monograph will be of interest to organic chemists and physicists.

Download or read book Aromatic C nitroso Compounds written by Hrvoj Vančik and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is designed to collect and review the research covering main directions in investigations of aromatic nitroso compounds in last decades, and to present both, the academic aspects of this chemistry, as well as the open field of its applicability. The book is divided in five chapters. The basic structural properties of the nitroso aromatic molecules are described in the first chapter. The second chapter is an overview of the methods of preparations of aromatic nitroso and polynitroso compounds, including classical synthetic methods and some new preparative approaches. The third part deals with the physico-chemical properties of nitroso aromates and azodioxides, its structure, crystallography, quantum chemical calculations, spectroscopy, typical reactions, and especially it is focused on the dimerizations in the solid-state. In the fourth chapter is represented organometallic chemistry of nitroso aromatic molecules and its applications in catalysis. The last part of the book deals with the behavior of this class of compounds in the biological systems, reactions with biomolecules and the use in toxicology.

Download or read book Vibrational Spectra of Organometallics written by Edward Maslowsky, Jr. and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-02-04 with total page 730 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive compilation of the available experimental and theoretical vibrational data for organometallic compounds and its role in evaluating the structures, bonding, and properties of these key compounds This unique book offers a thorough review of the literature dealing with vibrational data obtained using various phases, including matrices, reported for organometallic compounds from infrared spectra, Raman spectra, and several other techniques. It is the only one that compiles the available experimental and theoretical vibrational data on these compounds, and which discusses the importance of this information and its role in evaluating structures, bonding, and other important properties. It also treats the use of DFT and other theoretical calculations to analyze the vibrational data and to predict properties associated with these compounds. The book also includes vibrational data for organic species that form on metal and other surfaces. Vibrational Spectra of Organometallics: Theoretical and Experimental Data offers complete coverage of: Carbide, Alkylidyne, Alkylidene, Alkyl, and Alkane Derivatives; Noncyclic Carbon Clusters and Unsaturated Hydrocarbon Derivatives; and Cyclic, Unsaturated Organometallic Derivatives. By summarizing work that has already been done on organometallic compounds, it serves as an important reference for those studying their vibrational spectra and will, in the end, lead to a clearer understanding of other research that needs to be done in order to help researchers determine new research directions. An important reference for those studying the vibrational spectra of organometallic compounds Gathers the existing experimental and theoretical vibrational data and discusses its significance in assessing structures, bonding, and other principle properties Includes DFT methods for the interpretation of spectra, which has been one of the major developments of the last two decades Vibrational Spectra of Organometallics: Theoretical and Experimental Data is an important reference for researchers and practitioners in the areas of inorganic, organometallic, organic, and surface chemistry who have an interest in using vibrational data to characterize the bonding, composition, reactions, and structures of organometallic compounds, and organic species that are formed on various surfaces.
