Book Phenomenology of Two Higgs Doublet Models with Flavor Changing Neutral Currents

Download or read book Phenomenology of Two Higgs Doublet Models with Flavor Changing Neutral Currents written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive phenomenological analysis of a two Higgs doublet model, with flavor changing scalar currents at the tree level, called model III, is presented. Constraints from existing experimental information especially on?F=2 processes are systematically incorporated. Constraints emerging from rare B-decays, Z → b{anti b}, and the?-parameter are also examined. Experimental implications for ee (?+?) → t{anti c} + {anti t}c, t → c?(Z, g), D°-{anti D}°, and B{sub s}°-{anti B}{sub s}° oscillations, and for e+e (Z) → b{anti s} + {anti b}s are investigated and experimental effort towards these is stressed. They also emphasize the importance of clarifying the experimental issues pertaining to Z → b{anti b}.

Book Theoretical Studies on Extended Higgs Sectors Towards Future Precision Measurements

Download or read book Theoretical Studies on Extended Higgs Sectors Towards Future Precision Measurements written by Masashi Aiko and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-05-20 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates the physics of the discovered Higgs boson and additional Higgs bosons in the extended Higgs models which includes higher-order quantum corrections. While the 125 GeV Higgs boson was discovered, the structure of the Higgs sector is still a mystery. Since the Higgs sector determines the concrete realization of the Higgs mechanism, the study of its nature is one of the central interests in current and future high-energy physics. The book begins with a review of the standard model and the two-Higgs doublet model, which is one of the representatives of the extended Higgs models. Subsequently, we discuss the studies of the two-Higgs doublet model at the lowest order of perturbation. Following the lowest-order analysis, we study the higher-order electroweak corrections in Higgs physics. After reviewing the renormalization procedure and the higher-order corrections in the decays of the discovered Higgs boson, we discuss the higher-order corrections in the Higgs strahlung process from an electron-positron collision, the decays of the additional charged and CP-odd Higgs bosons in the two-Higgs doublet model. From the series of these studies, it is found that the nature of the Higgs sector can be widely investigated by future collider experiments.

Book Electroweak Baryogenesis and Its Phenomenology

Download or read book Electroweak Baryogenesis and Its Phenomenology written by Kaori Fuyuto and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-28 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis focuses on one of the mechanisms for solving the baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) which is a long-standing open question in both particle physics and cosmophysics. Electroweak baryogenesis (EWBG) is one attractive hypothetical scenario to solve this mystery because it can be verified by collider experiments. The author aims to clarify the possibility of EWBG, and to show its verifiability using the Higgs physics and electric dipole moments (EDMs) of an electron, neutron, and proton. The thesis begins with a review of the BAU and EWBG. Subsequently, the possibility of EWBG in one effective model is discussed, which can be applied to some motivated physics beyond the Standard Model. Numerical analyses of electroweak phase transition and sphaleron solution are presented, and the closed time path formalism is also explained to estimate the BAU. After essential calculations for investigation of the possibility of EWBG, the relationship between the BAU and EDMs is described. Through the discussion of the result, it is concluded that both EDMs and the Higgs physics verify the scenario completely. The whole discussion in this thesis causes us to accept the current situation that is ripe for verification of EWBG.

Download or read book LHC Phenomenology written by Einan Gardi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-27 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers a very broad spectrum of experimental and theoretical activity in particle physics, from the searches for the Higgs boson and physics beyond the Standard Model, to detailed studies of Quantum Chromodynamics, the B-physics sectors and the properties of hadronic matter at high energy density as realised in heavy-ion collisions. Starting with a basic introduction to the Standard Model and its most likely extensions, the opening section of the book presents an overview of the theoretical and phenomenological framework of hadron collisions and current theoretical models of frontier physics. In part II, discussion of the theory is supplemented by chapters on the detector capabilities and search strategies, as well as an overview of the main detector components, the initial calibration procedures and physics samples and early LHC results. Part III completes the volume with a description of the physics behind Monte Carlo event generators and a broad introduction to the main statistical methods used in high energy physics. LHC Phenomenology covers all of these topics at a pedagogical level, with the aim of providing young particle physicists with the basic tools required for future work on the various LHC experiments. It will also serve as a useful reference text for those working in the field.

Book The Phenomenology of Extended Gauge and Higgs Sectors at the LHC

Download or read book The Phenomenology of Extended Gauge and Higgs Sectors at the LHC written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We consider prospects for detecting and measuring the properties of Z', W' and heavy Higgs bosons at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). These particles are all well-motivated heavier counterparts to known SM particles. Z' and W' bosons arise when the SM gauge group is extended with additional U(1) or SU(2) factors. Heavy Higgs bosons are a feature of many models, including the Two Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM), supersymmetric (SUSY) models, and W' and Z' models. First, we consider a number of common Z' models and present next-to-leading (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) predictions for the cross section, forward-backward asymmetry, and rapidity distributions. We discuss methods for measuring the couplings of the Z' and distinguishing among models. Z' bosons with masses around 5 TeV should be detectable at the LHC, and the couplings of a 2.5 TeV Z' could be measured within 0.3 with a luminosity of 1 inverse attobarn. We also consider a hidden sector Z' that couples to standard model fermions via kinetic and mass mixing and serves as a mediator of isospin-violating interactions with dark matter. We combine the results of LHC Z' searches and dark matter direct detection experiments with global electroweak data to obtain mass-dependent constraints on the model parameters. Next, we consider the fact that extra broken gauge symmetries are often accompanied by extended scalar sectors. If the masses of new Higgs particles are not too large, the W' bosons may decay into heavy Higgs particles, providing new possibilities for W' detection. We consider a simple scenario where the W' couplings to fermions are suppressed, making decays to scalar pairs the dominant decay mode. Potential final states include one or two gauge bosons plus missing energy. Finally, we turn our attention to Higgs pair production in the 2HDM. Higgs pair production is a valuable tool for measuring the triscalar couplings of the scalar potential. We consider both hh resonant production and hH associated production. We identify viable search channels for the LHC and provide their expected discovery sensitivities for a center-of-mass energy of 14 TeV (LHC14) and a luminosity of 3 inverse attobarn. We find that discovery at the 95% C.L. is possible over most of the parameter space of the CP-conserving Type-II 2HDM.
