This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamics determines the properties and region of existence of any alloy. Pressure, temperature and composition are the key parameters that dictate its crystal structure, crystallographic data, physical and mechanical properties. Phase diagrams are of utmost importance as overviews of the particularities of any alloying mixture. The present volume presents phase equilibria, thermodynamic and crystallographic data of the binary alloys K-O ... Y-Zr.

  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 1994-11-17
  • ISBN : 9783540560739
  • Pages : 354 pages

Download or read book Cr Cs Cu Zr written by B. Predel and published by Springer. This book was released on 1994-11-17 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For everyone concerned with the technology and application of metals and alloys and with the development of new metallic materials, a detailed knowledge of phase equilibria is indispensable. Also, information on the thermodynamical and crystallographical data of the systems under investigation is essential, and often metastable crystalline phases as well as quasicrystalline or amorphous alloys are of interest. Vol. IV/5 therefore presents all these data. Because of the large amount available of experimental evidence and thermochemical calculations, a presentation in one volume, as it was realized several decades ago in the widely used book of M. Hansen "Aufbau der Zweistoff-Legierungen" proved to be impossible. So volume IV/5 had to be divided into several subvolumes which cover - in alphabetical order - all binary systems of importance. Subvolume IV/5d, the fourth of the series, deals with the systems Cr-Cs ... Cu-Zr. Further subvolumes will follow shortly.

Book Elements and Binary Systems from Ag AI to Au TI

Download or read book Elements and Binary Systems from Ag AI to Au TI written by and published by Springer. This book was released on 2002-10-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamic data, in conjunction with appropriate software for calculation of complex chemical equilibria, are finding wide application in many areas of materials design and development. In particular, the last 25 years have seen enormous advances in the thermodynamic modelling of alloy solution phases, whereby a knowledge of the underlying crystallographic structure of each phase is fundamental to a reliable representation of the thermodynamic properties and phase equilibria of a particular system of interest. With the aid of thermodynamic calculations, considerable time and costs can and are being saved in producing a material of the required composition and phase constitution required for a particular application. SGTE has been at the forefront in providing critically assessed thermodynamic data for alloy systems and has provided guidelines for the modelling of alloy phases of different types. Major advantages of the SGTE data are their self-consistency, the fact that they are produced with careful attention to a well-defined quality procedure and that the expertise of SGTE members in various areas of inorganic chemistry and materials science allows review of the numbers by highly qualified scientists in the fields concerned.

Book Methods for Phase Diagram Determination

Download or read book Methods for Phase Diagram Determination written by Ji-Cheng Zhao and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-05-05 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phase diagrams are "maps" materials scientists often use to design new materials. They define what compounds and solutions are formed and their respective compositions and amounts when several elements are mixed together under a certain temperature and pressure. This monograph is the most comprehensive reference book on experimental methods for phase diagram determination. It covers a wide range of methods that have been used to determine phase diagrams of metals, ceramics, slags, and hydrides. * Extensive discussion on methodologies of experimental measurements and data assessments * Written by experts around the world, covering both traditional and combinatorial methodologies * A must-read for experimental measurements of phase diagrams

Book Lithium Metal Anodes and Rechargeable Lithium Metal Batteries

Download or read book Lithium Metal Anodes and Rechargeable Lithium Metal Batteries written by Ji-Guang Zhang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-06 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides comprehensive coverage of Lithium (Li) metal anodes for rechargeable batteries. Li is an ideal anode material for rechargeable batteries due to its extremely high theoretical specific capacity (3860 mAh g-1), low density (0.59 g cm-3), and the lowest negative electrochemical potential (−3.040 V vs. standard hydrogenelectrodes). Unfortunately, uncontrollable dendritic Li growth and limited Coulombic efficiency during Li deposition/stripping inherent in these batteries have prevented their practical applications over the past 40 years. With the emergence of post Liion batteries, safe and efficient operation of Li metal anodes has become an enabling technology which may determine the fate of several promising candidates for the next generation energy storage systems, including rechargeable Li-air batteries, Li-S batteries, and Li metal batteries which utilize intercalation compounds as cathodes. In this work, various factors that affect the morphology and Coulombic efficiency of Li anodes are analyzed. The authors also present the technologies utilized to characterize the morphology of Li deposition and the results obtained by modeling of Li dendrite growth. Finally, recent developments, especially the new approaches that enable safe and efficient operation of Li metal anodes at high current densities are reviewed. The urgent need and perspectives in this field are also discussed. The fundamental understanding and approaches presented in this work will be critical for the applicationof Li metal anodes. The general principles and approaches can also be used in other metal electrodes and general electrochemical deposition of metal films.
