Download or read book Thyristor Physics written by A. Blicher and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume I attempt to present concisely the physical principles underlying the operation and performance characteristics of the class of semiconductor p-n-p-n switches known as thyristors. The semiconductor controlled rectifier (SCR), the triode AC switch (Triac) the gate turn-off switch (GTO), and the reverse conducting thyristor (RCT) are some of the most important devices belonging to this device family. This book is aimed both at semiconductor-device physicists, designers, and students and at those electronic circuit designers who wish to apply thyristors creatively without the limitation of con sidering them as "black boxes," described only by insufficiently understood electrical ratings. The book endeavors to present an up-to-date account of the progress made in understanding the operation, potentialities, and limitations of thyristors as switching circuit elements. It assumes some basic knowledge of transistor physics and stresses the phe nomenological aspects of thyristor theory with the use of mathe matics not going beyond calculus and differential equations. The first two chapters discuss basic thyristor operation theory. The sub sequent chapters are devoted to the study of the static and dynamic properties of the SCR, the RCT, the GTO, and the triac; they in clude discussions of forward voltage drops, maximum voltage blocking capabilities, turn-on and turn-off transients, current and voltage rise rates, and desirable and undesirable triggering effects.

This book was released on 2022-07-21 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides design-oriented models for the implementation of ultra-low-voltage energy harvesting converters, covering the modeling of building blocks such oscillators, rectifiers, charge pumps and inductor-based converters that can operate with very low supply voltages, typically under 100 mV. Analyses based on the diode and MOSFET models are included in the text to allow the operation of energy harvesters from voltages of the order of 100 mV or much less, with satisfactory power efficiency. The practical realization of different converters is also addressed, clarifying the design trade-offs of ultra-low voltage (ULV) circuits operating from few millivolts. Offers readers a state-of-the-art revision for ultra-low voltage (ULV) energy harvesting converters; Provides analog IC designers with proper models for the implementation of circuits and building blocks of energy harvesters, such as oscillators, rectifiers, and inductor-based converters, operating under ultra-low voltages; Addresses the design of energy harvesters operating from ultra-low voltages, enabling autonomous operation of connected devices driven by human energy; Demonstrates design and implementation of integrated ULV up-converters; Includes semiconductor modeling for ULV operation.

Book Design and Control of Power Converters 2020

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, nine papers focusing on different fields of power electronics are gathered, all of which are in line with the present trends in research and industry. Given the generality of the Special Issue, the covered topics range from electrothermal models and losses models in semiconductors and magnetics to converters used in high-power applications. In this last case, the papers address specific problems such as the distortion due to zero-current detection or fault investigation using the fast Fourier transform, all being focused on analyzing the topologies of high-power high-density applications, such as the dual active bridge or the H-bridge multilevel inverter. All the papers provide enough insight in the analyzed issues to be used as the starting point of any research. Experimental or simulation results are presented to validate and help with the understanding of the proposed ideas. To summarize, this book will help the reader to solve specific problems in industrial equipment or to increase their knowledge in specific fields.

Book High Temperature Electronics

Download or read book High Temperature Electronics written by F. Patrick McCluskey and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of electronics that can operate at high temperatures has been identified as a critical technology for the next century. Increasingly, engineers will be called upon to design avionics, automotive, and geophysical electronic systems requiring components and packaging reliable to 200 °C and beyond. Until now, however, they have had no single resource on high temperature electronics to assist them. Such a resource is critically needed, since the design and manufacture of electronic components have now made it possible to design electronic systems that will operate reliably above the traditional temperature limit of 125 °C. However, successful system development efforts hinge on a firm understanding of the fundamentals of semiconductor physics and device processing, materials selection, package design, and thermal management, together with a knowledge of the intended application environments. High Temperature Electronics brings together this essential information and presents it for the first time in a unified way. Packaging and device engineers and technologists will find this book required reading for its coverage of the techniques and tradeoffs involved in materials selection, design, and thermal management and for its presentation of best design practices using actual fielded systems as examples. In addition, professors and students will find this book suitable for graduate-level courses because of its detailed level of explanation and its coverage of fundamental scientific concepts. Experts from the field of high temperature electronics have contributed to nine chapters covering topics ranging from semiconductor device selection to testing and final assembly.

Book Newnes Linear IC Pocket Book

Download or read book Newnes Linear IC Pocket Book written by R M MARSTON and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2000-01-11 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Newnes Linear IC Pocket Book is aimed at all engineers, technicians, students and experimenters who can build a design directly from a circuit diagram. In a highly concise form Ray Marston presents a huge compendium of circuits that can be built as they appear, adapted or used as building blocks. The devices used have been carefully chosen for their ease of availability and reasonable price. The selection of devices has been thoroughly reviewed for the second edition, which contains approximately 350 new diagrams. Marston deals mainly with strictly-linear ICs such as op-amps, pre-amplifiers, power amplifiers, signal-conditioners and power supply regulators, as well as various hybrid types: the 555 timer IC, bar-graph display drivers, CCD delay lines, function or wave form generators, phase-locked loops and power control ICs. The subjects are treated in an easy-to-read, highly practical manner with a minimum of mathematics. Ray Marston has proved, through hundreds of circuits articles and books, that he is one of the world's leading circuit designers and writers. He has written extensively for Electronics World, Nuts and Bolts, Electronics and Beyond, Popular Electronics, Electronics Now, Electronics Today International, and Electronics Australia, amongst others. All parts readily available from major suppliers. Packed with ready-to-build circuit designs. Handy reference for hobbyists, students and circuit designers.
