Book Business Opportunities in Onshore Oil and Gas Exploration in the Northwest Territories

Download or read book Business Opportunities in Onshore Oil and Gas Exploration in the Northwest Territories written by T.J. Hawkings and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This booklet provides information on business opportunities resulting from Oil & Gas Exploration activities in the Northwest Territories. It is aimed at local entrepreneurs in communities close to oil and gas operations. It can also be used by individuals looking for information on employment opportunities associated with drilling and seismic operations. Five factors are critical to long term business success in Northern oil and gas operations. These are: 1) High quality and competitive service. 2) Aggressive marketing. 3) Location. 4) Knowledge of the requirements of oil companies. 5) Understanding the Exploration/Development Cycle. The first three of these factors can be controlled by local businesses. A better understanding of the last two factors will help Northern business people to make good decisions on whether to participate in opportunities resulting from oil and gas exploration programs. This booklet will help in this understanding. It begins with a discussion of the business opportunity followed by a description of the Exploration/Development Cycle. Awareness of the Cycle is key to taking advantage of the short term opportunities associated with exploration programs. Section 4.0 and 5.0 are the key sections of the booklet. They provide specific information on the business opportunities associated with seismic and drilling operations. The various phases of the operations are discussed and matched with the potential local requirements. A chart which summarizes the timing of an exploration project is provided in section 6.0. Section 7 includes a series of maps showing oil and gas activity in the Mackenzie Valley and southern NWT. This will further help the reader understand the exploration process, and also get some idea of the location and timing of anticipated activity. A brief description of the regulatory process of oil and gas exploration has been included to help give readers an appreciation of the steps an oil company goes through to carry out an exploration program"--ASTIS [online] database.

Book Business Opportunities Related to Oil and Gas Exploration and Production in Northern Canada

Download or read book Business Opportunities Related to Oil and Gas Exploration and Production in Northern Canada written by Canada. Department of Energy, Mines and Resources. Canada Oil and Gas Lands Administration and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents a study of the business resources and capabilities in northern Canada, of the types of goods and services required now and in the future by oil and gas companies operating in that region, and of areas of opportunity for northern businesses in oil and gas industry markets. Study methodology placed special emphasis on obtaining first-hand information on northern supplier characteristics and constraints, and on oil/gas industry activity and purchasing practices. The study was oriented toward identifying incremental opportunities for northern companies to extend their sales or generate new sales to oil/gas company markets, and makes specific recommendations to that end. Oil and gas company purchasing profiles are presented for the exploration and production phases of development. Northern business characteristics are reviewed by sector and important supply issues are assessed. The appendix includes business profiles of major northern business centres such as Whitehorse, Yellowknife, Norman Wells, and Inuvik.

Book The CANOL Project a Memoir of Oil Exploration in the Canadian Northwest Territories in World War II

Download or read book The CANOL Project a Memoir of Oil Exploration in the Canadian Northwest Territories in World War II written by and published by . This book was released on 1948 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The $138,000,000 CANOL Project was conceived in 1942 with oil exploration work starting in 1943. The project ended at the end of World War II in late 1945. This was a joint endeavor between the Canadian Government and the American government whereby an American oil drilling company would explore and drill for oil as part of the war effort. The company chosen to do the oil exploration and drilling was Noble Drilling, Inc. of Tulsa, Oklahoma (now based in Sugar Land, Texas, a suburb of Houston). The drilling took place in northern Alberta, the Canadian Northwest Territories, and the Canadian Yukon Territory. The entire CANOL effort was controversial and was not a success in terms of oil production but it did result in the opening of the Canadian Northwest Territories including such activities as the construction of an oil refinery in the Whitehorse, Yukon, the construction of the CANOL pipeline from Norman Wells in the NW Territories to Skagway, Alaska, and the construction of the Alaska Highway. The ALCAN Highway as it is called today continues to be the only through-highway connecting the lower 48 states with northern Alberta, the Yukon, and Alaska.

Book A Natural Gas Resource Assessment of Southeast Yukon and Northwest Territories Canada

Download or read book A Natural Gas Resource Assessment of Southeast Yukon and Northwest Territories Canada written by Canada. National Energy Board and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report assesses the geology, natural gas resource potential, and associated supply costs of the south-eastern Yukon and southern Northwest Territories. The geological analysis includes a review of the regional geological setting (basin evolution, stratigraphy, maturation, structural features) and petroleum exploration history. Estimates of reserves for discovered pools were obtained from published pool data, and a systematic statistical analysis of the undiscovered resource base was undertaken using the resource assessment methodologies developed by the Geological Survey of Canada and the National Energy Board. The bulk of the report provides detailed information on established plays, including play name, definition, hydrocarbon occurrence model, discovered resources, estimates of undiscovered resources, and analysis of supply costs.
