Les niveaux et schémas actuels qui caractérisent l’adoption des solutions STI ne suffisent pas pour faciliter cette transformation, en particulier dans les pays à revenu faible ou intermédiaire d’aujourd’hui. Par ailleurs, les éléments descriptifs et données d’évaluation sur les solutions STI actuelles et émergentes au service des systèmes agroalimentaires ne sont pas assez bien compris pour que l’on fasse une gestion consciente de ces solutions à l’appui des différents objectifs vers lesquels devront tendre les systèmes agroalimentaires de demain, à savoir l’efficacité, l’inclusivité, la résilience et la durabilité. Le rapport décrit l’ambition, la justification et la portée des produits axés sur les connaissances d’une nouvelle série que lancera la FAO, baptisée Perspectives sur les technologies et l’innovation dans le domaine des systèmes alimentaires, ainsi que les méthodes qui présideront à leur élaboration. L’objectif de la démarche est de sélectionner et mettre en valeur des données disponibles sur l’état actuel mesurable des STI et les changements à venir ainsi que sur leur potentiel de transformation, en vue d’éclairer les dialogues sur les politiques et les décisions fondés sur des éléments concrets, y compris en matière d’investissements.
