Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PERMISSIVE EDUCATION is a scholarly article both for neophytes and professionals about the art of holistic education that doesn't violate the child's emotional and sexual integrity. It's an education, as the author reveals, that is respectful of the child's unique personality, and their intrinsic gift and talents. It is admittedly a modern approach to child rearing that considers the child as an equal partner in love relations with adults, a person in his or her own right, not a doll to be 'managed' with consumer rhetoric, as it is the case now within in postmodern international consumer society that spreads around the world like a plague, actively supported and funded by what can be called 'the international child protection agenda' with all its propaganda that is right-way and fascist, supporting the dominance of international corporations to alienate the child from the family and render it a perfect consumer robot. This article is deliberately revolting. It touches issues that are never talked about in the international media, for sound reasons, for a sexual child would not be an ideal consumer in our modern-day international consumer culture that is out to maximize corporate profits and to minimize child psychosexual health.

Book A Lifetime in English Education

Download or read book A Lifetime in English Education written by Diana Vennis and published by Troubador Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2012-09-06 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Lifetime in English Education is a reminder of how important a good school can be in providing pupils from all backgrounds with a rounded education that can only strengthen the bonds of society. This unique insight on the history of post-war British education, tells the personal journey of Philip Vennis – a crusading educationalist, whose long career started at Dulwich College, after which he spent a short time at Bletchley Park as an intelligence officer. Following his degree from Cambridge he taught for nine years at East Ham Grammar School for Boys, became a Deputy Headmaster at Ounsdale Comprehensive School in Wombourne, and then a Headmaster at New Mills Grammar School, Derbyshire, finishing his career with almost twenty years as Principal of one of Hampshire’s premier Sixth Form colleges at Itchen College, Southampton. As his career develops so does his conviction in a belief that a wide ranging education should be provided by the state for all. Philip’s career spanned the post-war education acts, and the rise of the comprehensive system, right up to the cultural changes of the eighties. His belief in public service, his passion for the arts, and his conviction in the power of education to help people transcend their backgrounds is completely different from the primary experience for most current Heads, that of managing a budget and making schools more cost-effective and running them like a business. This book, written by his wife, Diana Vennis, should be an inspiration to all progressive educationalists. In a contemporary environment where the co-ed, comprehensive, open access philosophy seems to have lost out to a market-led educational system, this book is a timely reminder of the journey British education has taken in the post-war period.

Book excerpt: Comprehensive and up-to-date, Transformational Teaching provides a survey of instructional design and effective pedagogy that incorporates a biblical worldview throughout, making it especially useful for education courses at Christian colleges, Christian teachers who desire further training or ACSI certification, and homeschooling parents using a faith-based curriculum. The book explores philosophical and psychological foundations underlying teaching approaches, interprets the latest findings in neurological and educational research, and weaves InTASC standards throughout select chapters. Additionally, the final section is devoted to specific disciplines to offer strategies for effective teaching and faith integration in each subject area. Most chapters also feature a worldview foundations section, current research on best practices, case studies, and challenges for reflection and application. Written by authors with more than a century of combined teaching experience, including K-12 classrooms in both public and Christian schools, higher education, online instruction, and international training conferences, Transformational Teaching sets a new standard for teacher training that is specifically geared to a Christian educator.
