Book Selfdual Gauge Field Vortices

    Book Details:
  • Author : Gabriella Tarantello
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2008-04-16
  • ISBN : 0817646086

Download or read book Selfdual Gauge Field Vortices written by Gabriella Tarantello and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-04-16 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph discusses specific examples of selfdual gauge field structures, including the Chern–Simons model, the abelian–Higgs model, and Yang–Mills gauge field theory. The author builds a foundation for gauge theory and selfdual vortices by introducing the basic mathematical language of gauge theory and formulating examples of Chern–Simons–Higgs theories (in both abelian and non-abelian settings). Thereafter, the Electroweak theory and self-gravitating Electroweak strings are examined. The final chapters treat elliptic problems involving Chern–Simmons models, concentration-compactness principles, and Maxwell–Chern–Simons vortices.

Book Mathematical Theory of Incompressible Nonviscous Fluids

Download or read book Mathematical Theory of Incompressible Nonviscous Fluids written by Carlo Marchioro and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid dynamics is an ancient science incredibly alive today. Modern technol ogy and new needs require a deeper knowledge of the behavior of real fluids, and new discoveries or steps forward pose, quite often, challenging and diffi cult new mathematical {::oblems. In this framework, a special role is played by incompressible nonviscous (sometimes called perfect) flows. This is a mathematical model consisting essentially of an evolution equation (the Euler equation) for the velocity field of fluids. Such an equation, which is nothing other than the Newton laws plus some additional structural hypo theses, was discovered by Euler in 1755, and although it is more than two centuries old, many fundamental questions concerning its solutions are still open. In particular, it is not known whether the solutions, for reasonably general initial conditions, develop singularities in a finite time, and very little is known about the long-term behavior of smooth solutions. These and other basic problems are still open, and this is one of the reasons why the mathe matical theory of perfect flows is far from being completed. Incompressible flows have been attached, by many distinguished mathe maticians, with a large variety of mathematical techniques so that, today, this field constitutes a very rich and stimulating part of applied mathematics.

Book Transition to Turbulence

Download or read book Transition to Turbulence written by Tapan K. Sengupta and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 643 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Present understanding of transition to turbulence has now been studied over one hundred and fifty years. The path the studies have taken posed it as a modal eigenvalue problem. Some researchers have suggested alternative models without being specific. First-principle based approach of receptivity is the route to build bridges among ideas for solving the Navier-Stokes equation for specific canonical problems. This book highlights the mathematical physics, scientific computing, and new ideas and theories for nonlinear analyses of fluid flows, for which vorticity dynamics remain central. This book is a blend of classic with distinctly new ideas, which establish different dynamics of flows, from genesis to evolution of disturbance fields with rigorously developed methods to tracing coherent structures amidst the seemingly random and chaotic fluid dynamics of transitional and turbulent flows"--

Book Solitons in Field Theory and Nonlinear Analysis

Download or read book Solitons in Field Theory and Nonlinear Analysis written by Yisong Yang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two approaches in the study of differential equations of field theory. The first, finding closed-form solutions, works only for a narrow category of problems. Written by a well-known active researcher, this book focuses on the second, which is to investigate solutions using tools from modern nonlinear analysis.

Book Vortex Methods

    Book Details:
  • Author : Georges-Henri Cottet
  • Publisher : Cambridge University Press
  • Release : 2008-04-24
  • ISBN : 9780521061704
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Vortex Methods written by Georges-Henri Cottet and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2008-04-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vortex methods have matured in recent years, offering an interesting alternative to finite difference and spectral methods for high resolution numerical solutions of the Navier Stokes equations. In the past three decades, research into the numerical analysis aspects of vortex methods has provided a solid mathematical background for understanding the accuracy and stability of the method. At the same time vortex methods retain their appealing physical character, which was the motivation for their introduction. This book presents and analyzes vortex methods as a tool for the direct numerical simulation of impressible viscous flows. It will interest graduate students and researchers in numerical analysis and fluid mechanics and also serve as an ideal textbook for courses in fluid dynamics.

Book Regular and Chaotic Dynamics

Download or read book Regular and Chaotic Dynamics written by A.J. Lichtenberg and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book treats nonlinear dynamics in both Hamiltonian and dissipative systems. The emphasis is on the mechanics for generating chaotic motion, methods of calculating the transitions from regular to chaotic motion, and the dynamical and statistical properties of the dynamics when it is chaotic. The new edition brings the subject matter in a rapidly expanding field up to date, and has greatly expanded the treatment of dissipative dynamics to include most important subjects.
