Book Periodic Solutions of a Certain Non Linear Differential Equations

Download or read book Periodic Solutions of a Certain Non Linear Differential Equations written by Gamal Ismail and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of nonlinear oscillators equations is of great importance not only in all areas of physics but also in engineering and other disciplines, since most phenomena in our word are nonlinear and are described by nonlinear equations. Recently, considerable attention has been direct towards the analytical solutions for nonlinear oscillators, for example, elliptic homotopy averaging method, amplitude-frequency formulation, homotopy perturbation method, parameter-expanding method, energy balance method, and others. The aim of this thesis is to study the periodic solutions for some physical systems which the mathematical formulation of these systems leads to a certain set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations of the second order.

Book excerpt: An ideal companion to the new 4th Edition of Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations by Jordan and Smith (OUP, 2007), this text contains over 500 problems and fully-worked solutions in nonlinear differential equations. With 272 figures and diagrams, subjects covered include phase diagrams in the plane, classification of equilibrium points, geometry of the phase plane, perturbation methods, forced oscillations, stability, Mathieu's equation, Liapunov methods, bifurcations and manifolds, homoclinic bifurcation, and Melnikov's method. The problems are of variable difficulty; some are routine questions, others are longer and expand on concepts discussed in Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations 4th Edition, and in most cases can be adapted for coursework or self-study. Both texts cover a wide variety of applications whilst keeping mathematical prequisites to a minimum making these an ideal resource for students and lecturers in engineering, mathematics and the sciences.

Book Two Point Boundary Value Problems Lower and Upper Solutions

Download or read book Two Point Boundary Value Problems Lower and Upper Solutions written by C. De Coster and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-03-21 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the method of lower and upper solutions for ordinary differential equations. This method is known to be both easy and powerful to solve second order boundary value problems. Besides an extensive introduction to the method, the first half of the book describes some recent and more involved results on this subject. These concern the combined use of the method with degree theory, with variational methods and positive operators. The second half of the book concerns applications. This part exemplifies the method and provides the reader with a fairly large introduction to the problematic of boundary value problems. Although the book concerns mainly ordinary differential equations, some attention is given to other settings such as partial differential equations or functional differential equations. A detailed history of the problem is described in the introduction. · Presents the fundamental features of the method· Construction of lower and upper solutions in problems· Working applications and illustrated theorems by examples· Description of the history of the method and Bibliographical notes

Book Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations

Download or read book Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations written by R. Grimshaw and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-10-19 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ordinary differential equations have long been an important area of study because of their wide application in physics, engineering, biology, chemistry, ecology, and economics. Based on a series of lectures given at the Universities of Melbourne and New South Wales in Australia, Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations takes the reader from basic elementary notions to the point where the exciting and fascinating developments in the theory of nonlinear differential equations can be understood and appreciated. Each chapter is self-contained, and includes a selection of problems together with some detailed workings within the main text. Nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations helps develop an understanding of the subtle and sometimes unexpected properties of nonlinear systems and simultaneously introduces practical analytical techniques to analyze nonlinear phenomena. This excellent book gives a structured, systematic, and rigorous development of the basic theory from elementary concepts to a point where readers can utilize ideas in nonlinear differential equations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs in Pure and Applied Mathematics, Volume 67: Non-Linear Differential Equations, Revised Edition focuses on the analysis of the phase portrait of two-dimensional autonomous systems; qualitative methods used in finding periodic solutions in periodic systems; and study of asymptotic properties. The book first discusses general theorems about solutions of differential systems. Periodic solutions, autonomous systems, and integral curves are explained. The text explains the singularities of Briot-Bouquet theory. The selection takes a look at plane autonomous systems. Topics include limiting sets, plane cycles, isolated singular points, index, and the torus as phase space.
