Book excerpt: Gods Holy Word... The Holy Bible uses the word moon 52 times. We will look at them below... But first, the full moon cycle is a cycle of about 14 lunations over which full moons vary in apparent size and age or time since new moon. The sequence is: Full moon big or perigee at full moon, full moon young or perigee at first quarter, full moon small or perigee at new moon and lastly full moon old or perigee at last quarter.Growing up... That is all most of us really know or understand about the moon. But let us look at an explanation of Lunar perigee to apogee size comparison. The apparent size of the Moon varies because the orbit of the Moon is elliptical, and as a consequence at one time it is nearer to the Earth or perigee, than half an orbit later or apogee. The orbital period of the Moon from perigee to apogee and back to perigee is called the anomalistic month. The appearance, or phase, of the Moon is due to its motion with respect to the Sun. It varies in a period of time called a lunation, also called synodic month. The age is the number of days since new moon. The ellipticity of the orbit also causes the duration of a half lunation to depend on where in the elliptical orbit it begins, and so affects the age of the full moon. The full moon cycle is slightly less than 14 synodic months and slightly less than 15 anomalistic months. Its significance is that when you start with a large full moon at the perigee, then subsequent full moons will occur ever later after the passage of the perigee; after 1 full moon cycle, the accumulated difference between the number of completed anomalistic months and the number of completed synodic months is exactly 1.Full Moon Cycle And The YearFormulated in another way: the full moon cycle is the period that it takes the Sun to return to the perigee of the Moon's orbit or as seen from the Earth. So it is a kind of "perigee year," similar to the eclipse year which is the time for the Sun to return to the ascending node of the Moon's orbit on the ecliptic. Why does a full moon cycle last almost 14 lunations rather than just the 12.37 lunations of a year? This would be the case, if the moon's orbit kept a constant orientation with respect to the stars, but the tidal effect of the Sun causes the orbit to precess over a cycle just under 9 years. In that time, the number of full moon cycles passed becomes one less than the number of sidereal years passed.Hence the full moon cycle can be defined such that the lunar precession cycle is the beat period of the full moon cycle and sidereal year. Now, let us look at a basic definition of perigee as in Astronomy. Perigee is the point in the orbit of a heavenly body, especially the moon, or of an artificial satellite at which it is nearest to the earth. Compare apogee, which is the point in its orbit around the earth when the moon or an artificial satellite is nearest the earth. So why did we call this book PERIGEE MOON IS COMING? Good question. If you have been reading our other books we have published, over 108 to date, we have been telling of the things Father God is doing in our world today. We believe a Perigee Moon has appeared before and there is coming a PERIGEE MOON again that will change the life of everyone on the earth. Are You Ready?Obviously as mentioned above... Many perigee moons have come and gone. But on our understanding... Only two are paramount. The one that occurred when Jesus was on the cross... That was darkened by the Angel of God. And the next one to occure very soon... Again... Are You Ready? So, let us look at the word moon as talked about in The Holy Bible, God's Holy Word. Oh, let us caution you... For the full meaning of these passages... You must read you own Bible to see what the context is all about to get the full meaning of God's Holy Word in relation to the moon.

Book Moons A Very Short Introduction

Download or read book Moons A Very Short Introduction written by David A. Rothery and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2015-11-26 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proving to be both varied and fascinating, moons are far more common than planets in our Solar System. Our own Moon has had a profound influence on Earth, not only through tidal effects, but even on the behaviour of some marine animals. Many remarkable things have been discovered about the moons of the giant outer planets from Voyager, Galileo, Cassini, and other spacecraft. Scientists have glimpsed volcanic activity on Io, found oceans of water on Titan, and captured photos of icy geysers bursting from Enceladus. It looks likely that microbial life beyond the Earth may be discovered on a moon rather than a planet. In this Very Short Introduction David Rothery introduces the reader to the moons of our Solar System, beginning with the early discoveries of Galileo and others, describing their variety of mostly mythological names, and the early use of Jupiter's moons to establish position at sea and to estimate the speed of light. Rothery discusses the structure, formation, and influence of our Moon, and those of the other planets, and ends with the recent discovery of moons orbiting asteroids, whilst looking forward to the possibility of finding moons of exoplanets in planetary systems far beyond our own. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short Introductions series from Oxford University Press contains hundreds of titles in almost every subject area. These pocket-sized books are the perfect way to get ahead in a new subject quickly. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, perspective, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make interesting and challenging topics highly readable.
