Download or read book Performance of Nonlinear Approximate Adaptive Controllers written by Mark French and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2003-06-27 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years there has been a wide interest in non-linear adaptive control using approximate models, either for tracking or regulation, and usually under the banner of neural network based control. The authors present a unique critical evaluation of the approximate model philosophy and its setting, rigorously comparing the performance of such controls against competing designs. Analysing a very topical aspect of contemporary research and control practice this book highlights the situations in which approximate model based designs are most appropriate and indicates scenarios in which other designs could be used more productively. Throughout the text concepts are illustrated using a variety of examples, both academic problems and those based on physical examples. The work is designed to open the door to realistic applications. * Unified coverage of the theory and application of a wide range of control systems areas including neural network based control and control using the approximate model * Presents a mathematically well founded introduction to the area of intelligent control * A varied selecion of practical examples drawn from a variety of fields, including robotics and aerospace, illustrate theoretical principles * Clear compaisons of a variety of control designs * Cross disciplinary approach to this leading edge topic A valuable reference for control practitioners and theorists, artificial intelligence researchers and applied mathematicians, as well as graduate students and researchers with an interest in adaptive control and stability.

Book Adaptive Approximation Based Control

Download or read book Adaptive Approximation Based Control written by Jay A. Farrell and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2006-04-14 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A highly accessible and unified approach to the design and analysis of intelligent control systems Adaptive Approximation Based Control is a tool every control designer should have in his or her control toolbox. Mixing approximation theory, parameter estimation, and feedback control, this book presents a unified approach designed to enable readers to apply adaptive approximation based control to existing systems, and, more importantly, to gain enough intuition and understanding to manipulate and combine it with other control tools for applications that have not been encountered before. The authors provide readers with a thought-provoking framework for rigorously considering such questions as: * What properties should the function approximator have? * Are certain families of approximators superior to others? * Can the stability and the convergence of the approximator parameters be guaranteed? * Can control systems be designed to be robust in the face of noise, disturbances, and unmodeled effects? * Can this approach handle significant changes in the dynamics due to such disruptions as system failure? * What types of nonlinear dynamic systems are amenable to this approach? * What are the limitations of adaptive approximation based control? Combining theoretical formulation and design techniques with extensive use of simulation examples, this book is a stimulating text for researchers and graduate students and a valuable resource for practicing engineers.

Book Neural Network Modeling and Identification of Dynamical Systems

Download or read book Neural Network Modeling and Identification of Dynamical Systems written by Yury Tiumentsev and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2019-05-17 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neural Network Modeling and Identification of Dynamical Systems presents a new approach on how to obtain the adaptive neural network models for complex systems that are typically found in real-world applications. The book introduces the theoretical knowledge available for the modeled system into the purely empirical black box model, thereby converting the model to the gray box category. This approach significantly reduces the dimension of the resulting model and the required size of the training set. This book offers solutions for identifying controlled dynamical systems, as well as identifying characteristics of such systems, in particular, the aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft. - Covers both types of dynamic neural networks (black box and gray box) including their structure, synthesis and training - Offers application examples of dynamic neural network technologies, primarily related to aircraft - Provides an overview of recent achievements and future needs in this area

Book Hybrid L1 Adaptive Control

Download or read book Hybrid L1 Adaptive Control written by Roshni Maiti and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-03-01 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book details the designing of hybrid control strategies for practical systems containing time varying uncertainties, disturbances, nonlinearities, unknown parameters, unmodelled dynamics, delays, etc., concurrently. In this book, the advantages of different controllers will be brought together to produce superior control performance for the practical systems. Being aware of the advantages of adaptive controller to tackle unknown constant, time varying uncertainties and time varying disturbances, a variant of adaptive controller, namely L1 adaptive controller, is hybridized with other strategies. In this book, to facilitate optimal parameter setting of the basic L1 adaptive controller, stochastic optimization technique will be hybridized with it. The stability of the optimization technique along with the controller will be guaranteed analytically with the help of spectral radius convergence. The proposed method exhibits satisfactory exploration and exploitation capabilities. Again, this book will throw light on tackling nonlinearities along with uncertainties and disturbances by hybridizing fuzzy logic with L1 adaptive controller. The performances of the designed controllers will be compared with different control methodologies to validate their effectiveness. The overall stability of the nonlinear system with the designed controller will be guaranteed with the help of fuzzy Lyapunov function to retain the zonal behaviour of the system. This fuzzy PDC-L1 adaptive controller is efficient to tackle nonlinearities and at the same time cancels unknown constant, time varying uncertainties and time varying disturbances adequately. This book will also contain four simulation case studies to validate fruitfulness of the designed controllers. To demonstrate the superior control ability of these controllers in tackling practical system, three experimental case studies will also be provided.
