Download or read book Performance Evaluation of Foreign Subsidiaries written by Hendrik Vedder and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2008-12 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminar paper from the year 2008 in the subject Business economics - Controlling, grade: 1,7, European Business School - International University Schlo Reichartshausen Oestrich-Winkel, course: Seminar Controlling, 28 entries in the bibliography, language: English, abstract: Long before the globalisation had become a buzz word and an impetus for companies to invest abroad, enterprises enlarged their "business playing field" into foreign countries for various reasons, such as to capture a new market, to secure resources, or to take advantage of local cost levels. Therefore, subsidiaries are heavily involved in the value creation process for and within multinational corporations (MNCs). However, despite the fact that the measurement of performance is crucial for globally active companies not only in steering the value creation for the MNC but also, for example, in fostering international expansion or guiding resource allocation, MNCs differ significantly in the extent to which they are aware of the performance of their subsidiaries. Due to the fact that strategic decisions regarding the global expansion of a MNC require a wide and clear information basis to be able to assess how successfully a foreign subsidiary has conducted its business or under what possibly unfavourable environmental conditions the business results were achieved, multinational enterprises have to implement a system for evaluating the performance of their foreign subsidiaries and their management. Therefore, this paper aims to analyse the central aspects to consider in the evaluation of the performance of foreign subsidiaries. This paper is divided into five chapters. After a short introduction to the theoretical background of performance evaluation in chapter 2, the paper continues in chapter 3 with the central issues of an effective performance evaluation system for foreign subsidiaries with a clear focus on the aspect of separating managerial and subsidiary performance. Then chapter 4 illustrate

Book Employee Representation in Multinational Companies

Download or read book Employee Representation in Multinational Companies written by Thomas Haipeter and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-26 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investigating the issue of employee representation in multinational companies (MNCs), this book sets out to systematically conceptualise the modes of articulation between different action fields. While previous studies have focused on forms of employee representation that have emerged throughout recent decades, rather little is known about the interaction and coordination of representational bodies and actors, such as trade unions and European or World Works Councils. Given the growing importance of transnational restructuring in MNCs, understanding the conditions under which employees are able to participate in company decision-making is a crucial issue. Based on empirical case studies and interviews with employee representatives from ten countries across Europe, the authors investigate the role of representational bodies in periods of company restructuring. Proposing a shift in perspectives in research on transnational labour relations and bringing new insights into structures and practices of employee representation in MNCs, this book will be a valuable read for both scholars and practitioners.

Book Human Resources Management in Multinational Companies

Download or read book Human Resources Management in Multinational Companies written by Marzena Stor and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-27 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human resource management (HRM) has a significant impact on companies' performance, as evidenced by research conducted in multinational companies (MNCs) based in Central Europe. This book provides a unique perspective of activities conducted in the HRM field in local subsidiaries of such enterprises. It also presents results verifying many hypotheses for each of the six models for single HRM subfunctions and their four relationships with the results of company performance. Particular chapters are devoted to activities including staffing the organization, shaping employee work engagement and job satisfaction, conducting employee performance appraisal, employee development, managerial staff development, and employer branding. The author used the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling to verify the research hypotheses. Readers will acquire knowledge about HRM practices in organizations in which the overwhelming ownership capital belongs to MNCs headquartered in Central Europe. The research findings presented confirm the positive impact that HRM activities have on the results of this type of enterprise in such areas as finance, quality, innovation and HRM itself. The research also sheds light on the new, interesting regularities identified in this regard, e.g. the perception of human factor as a competitive factor. This book will be of interest to academics, researchers, and advanced or postgraduate students who are interested in the latest research on HRM in MNCs in the region of Central Europe.
