Book Performance Criteria Development for Army Field Recruiters

Download or read book Performance Criteria Development for Army Field Recruiters written by Timothy W. Elig and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A variety of measures which have served as criteria of recruiter performance are discussed. New approaches to productivity measurement are developed to reflect both the relative value of different recruits to the Army and the influence of area productivity of 612 Army recruiters is presented. The large influence of District Recruiting Command fertility on individual recruiter productivity (accounting for 32% of the variance) was found to be primarily due to low priority recruits (those recruits who have low AFQT scores and/or did not get a high school diploma): DRC average production accounts for 34% of the variance in production of low priority recruits while it accounts for less than 9% of variance in production of high priority recruits. Managerial implications of area fertility adjustments of recruiter production are discussed. Recruiter reactions to performance appraisal adjustments for DRC fertility are considered.

Book Performance Evaluation and Army Recruiting

Download or read book Performance Evaluation and Army Recruiting written by James N. Dertouzos and published by Rand Corporation. This book was released on 2008-03-31 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional performance metrics, such as number of contracts signed per month per Army recruiter, do not adequately measure recruiter effort, skill, and productivity. The authors develop a "preferred performance metric" that takes into account the difficulty of recruiting different types of youth in various markets and propose short-term changes to the system that would more accurately assess recruiter effort and skill.

Book Validating Future Force Performance Measures Army Class

Download or read book Validating Future Force Performance Measures Army Class written by Karen O. Moriarty and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To meet the challenges facing the Army, the Army needs predictor measures that will enhance entry-level Soldier selection and classification. One of the purposes of the Army Research Institute for Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI's) Army Class project is to provide the Army with recommendations on which predictor measures, in particular measures of non-cognitive attributes (e.g., interests, values, and temperament), demonstrate the greatest potential to inform entry-level Soldier selection and classification decisions. The present report documents the development of criterion measures to assist in these analyses. A second purpose of the Army Class project is to develop and pilot job knowledge tests (JKTs) that can be used to aid reclassification decisions. If Soldiers are shown to possess critical knowledge, skills, and attributes (KSAs) for their new jobs, this could reduce training requirements and increase force readiness. This report documents the development of reclassification JKT test items.

Book Development of Behavior Based Scales and Analysis of Recruiter Selection Battery Data for the Army Recruiter Job

Download or read book Development of Behavior Based Scales and Analysis of Recruiter Selection Battery Data for the Army Recruiter Job written by and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One purpose of the present research was to develop behavior-based rating scales for evaluating enlisted Army recruiter performance. To accomplish this, rating scales developed previously for Navy recruiters were revised with the help of experienced Army recruiters. Retranslations of Army recruiter performance examples into the Navy recruiter dimensions and the final revised behavioral anchors into the same dimensions suggested that (1) the Navy's eight- dimension description of recruiter performance requirements is appropriate for Army use and (2) the final Army recruiter scales with revised definitions and anchors provide a relatively unambiguous depiction of the various performance areas for this job, as well as the effectiveness levels within each area. A second purpose here was to inititate evalution of the experimental Recruiter Selection Battery (RSB-X) for use in identifying persons with high potential for Army recruiting. Toward this end, the RSB-X was administered to 417 trainees in the Army recruiter school. Responses to the RSB-X were scored on four keys developed previously to predict performance in Navy recruiting, and these scores for the Army sample were compared to scores on the same keys obtained by Navy recruiters in a 1977 sample (N = 194). Total scores across all four keys were very similar for the Army and Navy samples. However, on three of the four keys, Army mean scores were significantly different from Navy means.

Book Army Recruiters Criterion Development and Preliminary Validation of a Selection Procedure

Download or read book Army Recruiters Criterion Development and Preliminary Validation of a Selection Procedure written by and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research in support of the Army's recruiting operations was conducted to (a) develop a valid criterion of recruiter effectiveness, and (b) develop and evaluate a recruiter selection test battery. Using data from a sample of 400 recruiters, statistical analyses were performed to determine the theoretical yield to be expected from each recruiter's territory based on a multiple correlation between territorial characteristics and production records. A formula was developed to express each recruiter's effectiveness, comparing his actual production with the predicted production. In Task B, tests were assembled to measure recruiter characteristics considered likely to be associated with recruiting effectiveness: verbal fluency, sociability, achievement motivation, empathy, maturity/responsibility, and various backgroun characteristics. The tests were administered to 45 highly successful, and to 43 very unsuccessful, recruiters. None of the individual test scores discriminated significantly between good and poor recruiters. One performance measure of verbal fluency did discriminate significantly, as did about 20 background-information items. The true value of these items for recruiter selection cannot be known until cross- validation has been accomplished.

Book Attitudes Aptitudes and Aspirations of American Youth

Download or read book Attitudes Aptitudes and Aspirations of American Youth written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2003-02-01 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recruiting an all-volunteer military is a formidable task. To successfully enlist one eligible recruit, the Army must contact approximately 120 young people. The National Research Council explores the various factors that will determine whether the military can realistically expect to recruit an adequate fighting force-one that will meet its upcoming needs. It also assesses the military's expected manpower needs and projects the numbers of youth who are likely to be available over the next 20 years to meet these needs. With clearly written text and useful graphics, Attitudes, Aptitudes, and Aspirations of American Youth offers an overview of important issues for military recruiters, touching on a number of important topics including: sex and race, education and aptitude, physical and moral attributes, and military life and working conditions. In addition, the book looks at how a potential recruit would approach the decision to enlist, considering personal, family, and social values, and the options for other employment or college. Building on the need to increase young Americans' "propensity to enlist," this book offers useful recommendations for increasing educational opportunities while in the service and for developing advertising strategies that include concepts of patriotism and duty to country. Of primary value to military policymakers, recruitment officers, and analysts, Attitudes, Aptitudes, and Aspirations of American Youth will also interest social scientists and policy makers interested in youth trends.

Book Performance Measurement

Download or read book Performance Measurement written by Winston Bennett and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2014-02-04 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the course of the past few years, teaching, research, and practice has underscored the importance of performance measurement and criterion development as topics of great interest, considerable debate, and some misunderstanding. It has also become clear that the field needs to address a compendium of research, applications, and issues. Performance Measurement: Current Perspectives and Future Challenges brings together internationally recognized leaders in the field and each examines the subject matter in a way that has never been done--focusing on the dynamic nature of work and the tremendous demands being placed on assessment and measurement as core organizational activities. It also uniquely uses their expertise to provide critical pointers to not only the practical implications of work in the field, but also to the new and continuing issues to be addressed and research to be conducted. The book will be useful to both scientists and practitioners.

Book Recruit Aptitudes and Army Job Performance

Download or read book Recruit Aptitudes and Army Job Performance written by David J. Armor and published by Rand Corporation. This book was released on 1983 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents findings from a study of the relationships between observable characteristics of military enlistees and their subsequent job performance, and the use of those relationships in a model for setting enlistment standards. Two performance measures are examined: retention (what portion of the initial enlistment tour is completed) and job proficiency. Recruit aptitudes are important predictors of success on the Army's Skill Qualification Test for Infantrymen, and on earlier experimental hands-on tests for four other Army jobs. The performance results are combined with recent data on Army recruiting, training, and force-maintenance costs in a cost-performance tradeoff model. The model yields an optimal enlistment standard for the Infantryman specialty that is close to that adopted in fiscal year 1981, and a quality mix for entering recruits about the same as the mix mandated by Congress. Adopting optimal standards Army-wide could cost $100 to $200 million.

Book Evaluation of Recruiter Performance Measures and Policy

Download or read book Evaluation of Recruiter Performance Measures and Policy written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Effective selection of recruiters is essential to the success of recruitment. To meet this objective, the Recruiter Selection Battery- Experimental (RSB-X) was developed. The RSB-X was administered to over 400 recruiters who entered the Army Recruiting Course during May and June 1985. This report documents the results of the first stages of an attempt to examine the ability of the RSB-X and other characteristics to predict recruiter success. On the basis of interviews with key U.S. Army Recruiting Command personnel and examination of performance records for the sample of recruiters, a definition of recruiter success was developed was developed, multiple measures of recruiter performance documented, and data elements of the RSB-X described. These preliminary activities indicate that an assessment of the ability of the RSB-X and other characteristics gathered at the same time to predict recruiter success can proceed efficiently. (KR).

Book Performance Assessment for the Workplace

Download or read book Performance Assessment for the Workplace written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1991-01-01 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although ability testing has been an American preoccupation since the 1920s, comparatively little systematic attention has been paid to understanding and measuring the kinds of human performance that tests are commonly used to predictâ€"such as success at school or work. Now, a sustained, large-scale effort has been made to develop measures that are very close to actual performance on the job. The four military services have carried out an ambitious study, called the Joint-Service Job Performance Measurement/Enlistment Standards (JPM) Project, that brings new sophistication to the measurement of performance in work settings. Volume 1 analyzes the JPM experience in the context of human resource management policy in the military. Beginning with a historical overview of the criterion problem, it looks closely at substantive and methodological issues in criterion research suggested by the project: the development of performance measures; sampling, logistical, and standardization problems; evaluating the reliability and content representativeness of performance measures; and the relationship between predictor scores and performance measuresâ€"valuable information that can also be useful in the civilian workplace.
