Book Basics of Hepatobiliary Interventions

Download or read book Basics of Hepatobiliary Interventions written by Amar Mukund and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-17 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers interventional treatments (minimally invasive therapies) for the management of various hepato-biliary disorders and the complications arising due to liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Given that interventional radiology and hepato-biliary interventions are comparatively new, very little literature is available on them. This book addresses that gap and offers practitioners and trainees a guide to the management of various hepato-biliary disorders requiring radiological interventions. The content addresses both non-vascular and vascular procedures. The respective chapters cover various procedures, such as image guided diagnostic tissue sampling (FNA and biopsies), guided liver abscess and biliary drainage procedures, liver tumor ablation, intra-arterial and intravenous techniques for the management of vascular diseases of the liver and portal hypertension, variceal bleeds and tumor management. Last but not the least, detailed chapters on interventions for post liver transplant complications are also included. The book is chiefly intended for practicing interventional radiologists, as well as fellows and trainees in interventional radiology courses.

Book Interventional Radiology for Medical Students

Download or read book Interventional Radiology for Medical Students written by Hong Kuan Kok and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides easily accessible technique specific information on interventional radiology (IR) procedures at a basic level for medical students and junior doctors. It covers subject topics in both vascular and non-vascular interventional radiology appropriate for a non-specialist audience. Case based contents help to introduce IR techniques and demonstrate the role of minimally invasive therapy in the overall clinical management. Pre and post-procedural patient assessments are also included in the chapters to enhance patient safety and early detection of complications. Interventional Radiology treatments now play a major role in many disease processes and continues to grow with new procedures added to the armamentarium of the interventional radiologist, almost on a yearly basis. Interventional radiology because of its pivotal role in medical care, requires its own teaching curriculum. Recognising this, the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE) devised an undergraduate curriculum in IR, specifically designed for teaching medical students. This book will be primarily of benefit to medical students. In addition, it will also be of help to non-radiology junior hospital doctors and general practitioners.

Book Interventional Ultrasound

Download or read book Interventional Ultrasound written by Hans Henrik Holm and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern sonography makes possible the detection of small and subtle changes in the normal echo pattern. These may represent significant pathological changes which can not al ways be fully revealed by the echo pattern alone. There is, therefore, an increasing need for the supplement of the ultra sonically guided percutaneous puncture, which can be per formed with great accuracy and with virtually no risk. Also, ultrasonically guided puncture has proven invaluable for a wide variety of therapeutic purposes. The first percutaneous puncture guided by ultrasonic scanning using a specifically designed transducer was per formed in 1969 at the ultrasonic laboratory in Gentofte, now Herlev, Hospital, Copenhagen. The idea was based on a punc ture transducer described and used by Kratochwill for punc ture under the guidance of the ultrasonic A-presentation tech nique. The development in the field formed the basis of the First International Conference on Ultrasonically Guided Puncture at Herlev Hospital in 1978 sponsored by The Danish Society of Diagnostic Ultrasound. The knowledge and experience of the speakers at that conference was compiled in the book "Ultrasonically Guided Puncture Technique" published in 1980. Since then the Society has sponsored a conference at the same place in 1980 and 1983, the latest conference being termed "Third International Conference on lnterventional Ultrasound".
