Book Efficacia ed efficienza di una leadership etica

Download or read book Efficacia ed efficienza di una leadership etica written by Joaquín Gómez Blanes and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book How the World Changed Social Media

Download or read book How the World Changed Social Media written by Daniel Miller and published by UCL Press. This book was released on 2016-02-29 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How the World Changed Social Media is the first book in Why We Post, a book series that investigates the findings of anthropologists who each spent 15 months living in communities across the world. This book offers a comparative analysis summarising the results of the research and explores the impact of social media on politics and gender, education and commerce. What is the result of the increased emphasis on visual communication? Are we becoming more individual or more social? Why is public social media so conservative? Why does equality online fail to shift inequality offline? How did memes become the moral police of the internet? Supported by an introduction to the project’s academic framework and theoretical terms that help to account for the findings, the book argues that the only way to appreciate and understand something as intimate and ubiquitous as social media is to be immersed in the lives of the people who post. Only then can we discover how people all around the world have already transformed social media in such unexpected ways and assess the consequences

Book excerpt: What place do images hold among other kinds of historical evidence? In Eyewitnessing, Peter Burke reviews graphics, photographs, films, and other media from many countries and periods and examines their pragmatic uses. This profusely illustrated book surveys the opportunities and the challenges of using images to understand other times. In a thorough and compelling defense of the importance of the visual to history, Burke argues that images should not be considered mere reflections of their time and place, but rather extensions of the social contexts in which they were produced. The author describes and evaluates the methods by which art historians have traditionally analyzed images, and finds them insufficient to deal with the complexities of visual imagery. In developing a richer mode of visual interpretation, Burke devotes much attention to religious icons and narratives and political propaganda posters, caricatures, and maps. Eyewitnessing also addresses the economics of images--some, such as films, are commodities in themselves, and others are created to advertise other products. Concentrating on the representation of social groups, the author explores stereotypes as well as notions of foreignness and gender. In this wide-ranging, highly accessible volume, Burke helps us to understand the promise and the pitfalls of using visual evidence in the writing of history.

Download or read book Abitare la storia written by Luca Leoncini and published by Umberto Allemandi. This book was released on 1998 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: -- An important and well-illustrated discussion on the preservation of some of our most important landmarks. With time, the residences of kings, aristocrats, artists and collectors become museums in themselves; the priority today consists of maintaining not only their artistic heritage and entire collection of furnishings but also the character of private places. Every single restoration must preserve the context of its objects. Such issues were discussed in November 1997 during an international conference promoted by the Superintendence of the Environmental and Architectural Heritage of Liguria. Now, the testimonies offered by the directors of museums and officials of such institutions have been collected in this volume. A fascinating and illuminating argument for 'the noble sacrifice of leaving things in their place'.
