Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pastors Sandal Path relates my envisioning of God in nature. I was privileged to grow up with my sister and five brothers on a farm where our parents instilled in us the presence of God in our daily lives, as well as in the majesty of Gods nature. My early schooling took place in a one-room country school where our fantastic teacher incorporated the beauty of God and nature in the classroom and on field trips. In the upper grades, the Dominican sisters assisted my parents in laying a solid faith foundation. After graduation, I entered St. Mary of the Lake Seminary Mundelein where my faith was deepened, my love of Jesus increased, and Gods presence in nature more keenly perceived. I hope my perceptions of God in nature will help the reader to encounter God in their ordinary experiences of life.

Book The Elephant of My Heart

Download or read book The Elephant of My Heart written by Jessica Clements and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2014-04-16 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Elephant of My Heart is the story that emerged as Jessica Clements took her first inner journey on the Personal Totem Pole Process originated by Stephen Gallegos. Jessicas life had not been easy, for at nine years old, she had suffered a brain haemorrhage. Yet this was just where her new guide, her elephant, took her to, though in the gentlest and softest of ways. It was here that her elephant, and numerous other animals, taught her that the scars that criss-cross her head can be seen in a different way, for now they are stitched with a black panthers whisker and held by a dragonfly! I read this book in an evening and couldnt put it down as I was taken on a magical journey by the Elephant at Jessicas Heart. Stephen Wish, Polar Bear Community If you like animals and meditate then I highly recommend this book! Jayne Thorpe

  • Pages : 82 pages

Download or read book Sculpting Cloud Shadows written by Ray Ellis and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-07-28 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sculpting cloud shadows or any shadow is not possible. Shadows can be manipulated and changed somewhat by the texture they fall on, be it flat and smooth or jagged, sharp and hilly. Clouds are somewhat like people, like the world. They have shape and form but are constantly changing. You can’t rely on them to be there when needed; and sometime they just show up at the wrong time. They are real but like a ghost can dissipate and disappear. Clouds are like life itself; you can’t hold onto it, only chase it’s shadow. Poem excerpts- You can’t eat it, taste it, smell it or hear it. You can’t store it on a shelf to use it later. Good vision will help but sometime a blind man can see it. You can’t buy it, bank it, sell it or rent it, it is free. It’s worth is un-measurable, without it there is no you or me. Behind the calendar and behind the clock, one step ahead of the dawn, behind your back, time frolics on. I can’t live in the past. I can’t dwell in a place that dissipated like the morning mist. Yet I must carry the past with me, like a heavy anchor holding me back.

Book The Aesop s Fable Paradigm

Download or read book The Aesop s Fable Paradigm written by K. Brandon Barker and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2021-12-07 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Aesop's Fable Paradigm is a collection of essays that explore the cutting-edge intersection of Folklore and Science. From moralizing fables to fantastic folktales, humans have been telling stories about animals—animals who can talk, feel, think, and make moral judgments just as we do—for a very long time. In contrast, scientific studies of the mental lives of animals have professed to be investigating the nature of animal minds slowly, cautiously, objectively, with no room for fanciful tales, fables, or myths. But recently, these folkloric and scientific traditions have merged in an unexpected and shocking way: scientists have attempted to prove that at least some animal fables are actually true. These interdisciplinary chapters examine how science has targeted the well-known Aesop's fable "The Crow and the Pitcher" as their starting point. They explore the ever-growing set of experimental studies which purport to prove that crows possess an understanding of higher-order concepts like weight, mass, and even Archimedes' insight about the physics of water displacement. The Aesop's Fable Paradigm explores how these scientific studies are doomed to accomplish little more than to mirror anthropomorphic representations of animals in human folklore and reveal that the problem of folkloric projection extends far beyond the "Aesop's Fable Paradigm" into every nook and cranny of research on animal cognition.

Book Weather of the Heart

Download or read book Weather of the Heart written by Nora Lourie Percival and published by Book Hub Inc. This book was released on 2013-11-13 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All through her long busy life in America, Nora Percival felt impelled to learn about the family she’d left behind in Samara, the city on the Volga where she was born. After glasnost she was finally able to go there and find the places, though not the people, of her youth. Her search resurrected childhood memories of revolution, civil war, famine and exile, which she felt impelled to share, “to speak for so many others who have silently endured the loss of all they valued.” In her book the reader will meet the extended family who faced many trials in those chaotic years, and will be moved by their steadfast togetherness through want and woe. The reader will share the love and courage that sustained them and helped them survive hunger and despair, the humor that cheered dreary days and the strength that carried them through affliction and calamity. Readers will cry over their sorrows and enjoy their small triumphs, and they will live again in memory.

Book The Passion of the Ruby Cat On Life

Download or read book The Passion of the Ruby Cat On Life written by Maril Ozanne Garrison and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2022-07-11 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry is powerful and necessary! Blake has said, “In sum, the poet is someone that humans cannot do without.” Poetry is beauty, practicality, grace, structure, gentleness and power that gives us peace, simplicity and wisdom. Poetry does nothing to earn its keep, no more than a singing bird. Yet it defines our roles, levels our road, empowers our spirits, and fills our hearts with courage. Mrs. Garrison has loved, taught and defined poetry over the years as she has studied and read many of the former poets, soaking up their styles and commenting on their writing. Poetry is like music without music. Easy to memorize, and easy to write if you pay attention to the masters, especially Poe. Poetry is a short, condensed mode of writing; it can be beautiful, loud, soft, invigorating, soul-filled and vibrant. RUBY CAT (The Passion of the Ruby Cat) is a collection of poems (rubaiyat) on life, plus a collection of quatrains and haikus. It is the third poetry book after the first two (THE PASSION OF POETRY and PASSION LAUGHS OUTLOUD!) that are all general poetry. There is a glossary in the end of each of these books giving definitions of not often used words to help the reader quickly enjoy every whimsical glance and nod.

Book Fidler on the River

    Book Details:
  • Author : Bob Fidler
  • Publisher : FriesenPress
  • Release : 2018-05-11
  • ISBN : 1525519417
  • Pages : 160 pages

Download or read book Fidler on the River written by Bob Fidler and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2018-05-11 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the summer of 1972, Bob Fidler and three others embarked on a month-long canoeing odyssey across Northern Ontario, following the Albany River from its source at Osnaburgh Lake all the way to Fort Albany on the doorstep of James Bay. A breathtaking 500-mile journey through remote wilderness the likes of which scarcely exists anymore on the North American continent. Drawn from the author’s daily travel log, Fidler on the River offers a rare glimpse of a part of the world that few people, even today, will ever experience. For anyone who has ever longed to get away from civilization or who, from experience, knows the weight of a paddle, the sound of water hushing along the hull of a canoe, or the clockwork thrum of a reel as a fish runs out line, this is a memoir that will strike deep resonant chords. Herodotus suggested that a man cannot cross the same river twice – for both man and river are constantly changing – and that is certainly the case when the river in question has been etching its way into the Canadian shield and across Hudson Bay Lowlands for forty-five years.
