Download or read book Pebe s Poems written by Ernest Stephen Newberry and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are 109 poems he wrote usually when he was ill and he could not do anything else. I wanted you to get to know him and he had a wonderful spirit, full of humor, intelligent from the time of a small boy. He was fortunate to have mostly good, caring doctors and some wonderful friends. He spent one semester with a home bound teacher and graduated from Bellaire High School with his regular class. I hope the book with help those on the kidney machine or faced with a closely related illness to enjoy their life and live each day to the fullest. He taught the twins and Dad and I so much by the things he did. Our family was complete with him and we are fortunate to have had him those years. I had four wonderful sons, couldn't ask for more.

Download or read book The Enigma of Woman written by Sarah Kofman and published by Ithaca : Cornell University Press. This book was released on 1985 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Kofman discusses various facets of Freud's attitudes toward women in his early years--his relation to his parents, the crystallization and development of his personal myths, his surprisingly liberal views in respect to certain independent women of his acquaintance, his thoughts on the mythic power of the Mother and on the putatively feminine side of his own nature. Then, by means of forceful new readings of "On Narcissism," "Femininity," and other works, she reveals that in his writings on women, Freud consistently alludes to women's menace, at times expressing fascination with their power, at times betraying panic. Kofman seeks to demonstrate that Freud in his later years was unable to see past the "idée fixe" of penis envy; his earlier receptivity toward women was overcome entirely by his need to argue with relentless illogic the inescapable, biologically determined inferiority of women."--Back cover.

Download or read book Lanterns On The Levee written by William Alexander Percy and published by Knopf. This book was released on 2012-09-05 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born and raised in Greenville, Mississippi, within the shelter of old traditions, aristocratic in the best sense, William Alexander Percy in his lifetime (1885–1942) was brought face to face with the convulsions of a changing world. Lanterns on the Levee is his memorial to the South of his youth and young manhood. In describing life in the Mississippi Delta, Percy bridges the interval between the semifeudal South of the 1800s and the anxious South of the early 1940s. The rare qualities of this classic memoir lie not in what Will Percy did in his life—although his life was exciting and varied—but rather in the intimate, honest, and soul-probing record of how he brought himself to contemplate unflinchingly a new and unstable era. The 1973 introduction by Walker Percy—Will's nephew and adopted son—recalls the strong character and easy grace of "the most extraordinary man I have ever known."
