Unfortunately, life does not always seem to cooperate with those plans. In these times, we may become confused, frustrated, upset, and seemingly hopeless. We may ask God why He has allowed a hardship or great devastation to take place in our lives. The answer as to why this situation is happening may come in any length of time. For some, the reason may come quickly. For others, the answer may not come for years to follow. Nevertheless, we must remain patient for His answer and continue to press on through each trial. We must do this not only to grow in our own trust in God but also to show others the power of faith and God's miracles. Through each trial that you face, you are given the opportunity to have a stronger relationship with Christ. When you endure through those trials, you become a living testimony for God's grace. You become a source of hope and inspiration to others going through their own trials. Take each battle one day at a time. It is not always easy, and at times you may stray off course, but you will likely discover a greater purpose for your time here on earth while you patiently endure.

Book Patience A Theological Exploration

Download or read book Patience A Theological Exploration written by Paul Dafydd Jones and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-11-17 with total page 633 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does it mean to exercise patience? What does it mean to endure, to wait, and to persevere-and, on other occasions, to reject patience in favor of resistance, haste, and disruptive action? And what might it mean to describe God as patient? Might patience play a leading role in a Christian account of God's creative work, God's relationship to ancient Israel, God's governance of history, and God's saving activity? The first instalment of Patience-A Theological Exploration engages these questions in searching, imaginative, and sometimes surprising ways. Following reflections on the biblical witness and the nature of constructive theological inquiry, its interpretative chapters engage landmark works by a number of ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary authors, disclosing both the promise and peril of talk about patience. Patience stands at the center of this innovative account of God's creative work, God's relationship with ancient Israel, creaturely sin, scripture, and God's broader providential and salvific purposes.

Book excerpt: In this fascinating book John Keenan offers a classical commentary on the New Testament Letter of James, section by section, informed by a thorough study of contemporary Jamesian scholarship. His approach is unique in theat it employs Mahayana Buddhist Philosophy as the interpretive lens to focus on this early Christian text. The author argues that the first chapter of James' letter presents wisdom as non-discriminative, in a manner very similar to Mahayana Buddhist teaching on wisdom. And James' insistence upon deeds of compasssion and justice recommends a notion of Christian practice that is quite close to the Mahayana ideal of Bodhisattva engagement in the world. Because of these areas of resonance, James in particularly amenable to a Mahayana reading-a reading that enables us to elicit fresh insights from the text.

Book Morning and Evening Meditations from the Word of God

Download or read book Morning and Evening Meditations from the Word of God written by Michael J. Akers and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-03-18 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many devotional books available containing brief, daily inspirations that benefit all who read them. This book is different in two respects. The first is obvious: it contains two readings per day—732 in all. The second, more important difference is that the author wanted to do more than offer inspiration; this would make this book no different than so many others. The messages in the book are study sketches in that the content is not only inspirational, but also educational, challenging, and encouraging. Most of these writings were based on author Michael J. Akers’s teaching of adult Bible studies for more than thirty years and learning what really brought adults to want to deepen their knowledge and application of the Word of God.
