  • ISBN : 9781563057113
  • Pages : 1124 pages

Download or read book Passionate Vegetarian written by Crescent Dragonwagon and published by Workman Publishing. This book was released on 2002-10-14 with total page 1124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introducing a new voice in vegetarian cooking. Packed with 1,000 recipes that are seductive, sexy, and utterly delicious, Passionate Vegetarian covers all the bases of meatless cooking, from east (Stir Fry of Asparagus with Black Bean-Ginger Sauce), west (Talk of the Town Barbecued Tofu), from the Mediterranean (Swiss Chard with Raisins, Onions & Olives) to the American South (Black-Eyed Pea Ragovt). You'll find lush lasagnas; plump pierogies; bountiful burgers, beans, and breads; pleasing pasta and pies. You'll spoon up soups and stews, and delight in desserts from simple to swoonworthy. Written by longtime vegetarian Crescent Dragonwagon, author of Dairy Hollow House Soup & Bread Cookbook, Passionate Vegetarian employs innovative methods (try "Ri-sort-ofs," in which risotto technique is used to create splendid, richly flavored grain dishes built around not just rice but also barley, buckwheat, spelt, and even toasted oats with an array of seasonings) and introduces lesser-known ingredients (get to know and love not just tofu and tempeh but a whole new generation of soyfoods, as well as "Quick Fixes" like instant bean flakes). Opinionated, passionate, and deeply personal, Ms. Dragonwagon's tantalizing headnotes will have readers rushing to the kitchen to start cooking. (Can her over-the-top Garlic Spaghetti really be that good? It is.) Whether you're a committed vegetarian, a dedicated vegan (most recipes offer low-fat and vegan options), or a food-loving omnivore in search of something new and wonderful, this is not just vegetarian cooking--but cooking, period--at its most creative, inspiring, and exuberant.

Book Bon Appetempt

Download or read book Bon Appetempt written by Amelia Morris and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Amelia Morris saw a towering, beautiful chocolate cake in Bon Appétit and took the recipe home to recreate it for a Christmas day brunch she was hosting, it resulted in a terrible (but tasty) mess that had to be served in an oversize bowl. It was also a revelation. Both delicious and damaged, it seemed a physical metaphor for the many curious and unexpected situations she's found herself in throughout her life, from her brief career as a six-year-old wrestler to her Brady Bunch-style family (minus the housekeeper and the familial harmony) to her ill-fated twenty-something job at the School of Rock in Los Angeles. As a way to bring order to chaos and in search of a more meaningful lifestyle, she finds herself more and more at home in the kitchen, where she begins to learn that even if the results of her culinary efforts fall well short of the standard set by glossy food magazines, they can still bring satisfaction (and sustenance) to her and her family and friends. Full of hilarious observations about food, family, unemployment, romance, and the extremes of modern L.A., and featuring recipes as basic as Toasted Cheerios and as advanced as gâteau de crêpes, Bon Appétit is sure to resonate with anyone who has tried and failed, and been all the better for it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: *It was supposed to be a MAKEOVER of her family RESTAURANT, not her LIFE.* A clean romantic comedy with a touch of romance plus some delicious vegan recipes. When Alexandra agrees to take care of the family restaurant, she thinks it’s only temporary, until her father recovers from a massive heart attack. What she doesn’t know is that the restaurant is in trouble, and participating in the Xtreme Restaurant Makeover television show may be the only way to save it. The show is hosted by a hot, but cutthroat, celebrity chef, Russell Stone, who turns around failing restaurants in less than five days, but his style and manners (or lack of thereof) are hard for Alexandra to swallow. Dirty pots and pans fly around the kitchen, food gets spit out, and interiors are gutted as millions are watching and cheering, the bigger the humiliation of the restaurant owner, the higher the ratings. She despises the very idea of it and doesn’t think she could do it. Or could she?

Book SOS Need Pierogi Desperately

Download or read book SOS Need Pierogi Desperately written by Frank J. Nice and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-04-05 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most learned healthcare professionals and researchers cannot even agree if a virus is alive or not. Politicians and government leaders could not care less if the virus is dead or alive as long as it is useful to claim the prize of political power and earthly control of our country’s citizens and Republic. Bacteria and viruses have been with us since the beginning of creation. In the beginning, everything was good and worked together. After the fall, all of creation was cursed. Good and evil now coexist. There are good viruses and bad viruses. Good viruses kill bad bacteria and give us immunity to bad viruses. Bad viruses rearrange and reassort to act as “powerful counterforces” to the human population. The pandemic virus of 1918 lives on, as will the coronavirus of 2020, as the microscopic and macroscopic forces and the unseen and seen forces of good and evil fight until the end. Evil and bad will not win in the end as God’s hand is always on top of His creation and in total control. His grace continues to be abundant. He even directs particles of viral DNA and RNA, encased in HA and NA, to choose reassortments that favor optimal transmissibility over lethal pathogenicity. Even “bad,” possibly nonliving viruses “know” that when they kill their hosts or incapacitate them, they have reached a dead end, and who wants to end their “lives” that way? Not even viruses. God’s Natural Law will not be smashed by humanity or by viruses. Humanity and viruses will ultimately be smashed by the Natural Law. Even if politicians and learned scientists and researchers do not understand that coronavirus will never leave either, we need to learn to live with it. True wisdom begins with the fear of God and not the fear of coronavirus.

Book Michael Symon s Live to Cook

Download or read book Michael Symon s Live to Cook written by Michael Symon and published by Clarkson Potter. This book was released on 2010-10-13 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hometown boy turned superstar, Michael Symon is one of the hottest food personalities in America. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, he is counted among the nation’s greatest chefs, having joined the ranks of Mario Batali, Bobby Flay, and Masaharu Morimoto as one of America’s Iron Chefs. At his core, though, he’s a midwestern guy with family roots in old-world traditions. In Michael Symon’s Live to Cook, Michael tells the amazing story of his whirlwind rise to fame by sharing the food and incredible recipes that have marked his route. Michael is known for his easy, fresh food. He means it when he says that if a dish requires more than two pans to finish, he’s not going to make it. Cooking what he calls “heritage” food–based on the recipes beloved by his Greek—Italian—Eastern European—American parents and the community in Cleveland–Michael draws on the flavors of traditional recipes to create sophisticated dishes, such as his Beef Cheek Pierogies with Wild Mushrooms and Horseradish, which came out of the pierogies that his grandpa made. Michael translates the influences of the diverse working-class neighborhood in which he grew up into dishes with Mediterranean ingredients, such as those in Olive Oil Poached Halibut with Fennel, Rosemary, and Garlic; Italian-style handmade pastas, like Linguini with Heirloom Tomato, Capers, Anchovies, and Chilies; and re-imagined Cleveland favorites, such as Mac and Cheese with Roasted Chicken, Goat Cheese, and Rosemary. Part of Michael’s irresistible allure on the Food Network comes from how much fun he has in the kitchen. To help readers gain confidence and have a good time, Michael Symon’s Live to Cook has advice for cooking like a pro, starting with basic instructions for how to correctly use techniques such as braising, poaching, and pickling. There’s also information on how caramelizing vegetables and toasting spices can give dishes a greater depth of flavor–instead of a heavy, time-consuming stock-based sauce–and why the perfect finishing touch to most meat or fish dishes can be a savory hot vinaigrette instead. With fantastic four-color photography throughout and tons of helpful “Symon Says” tips, Michael Symon’s Live to Cook is bound to get anyone fired up about getting into the kitchen and cooking up something downright delicious.
