Download or read book Spreading the Light written by Archie Crawford and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2004 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about life and is written in plain everyday language. The author boldly faces up to those fundamental questions rankling at the back of one's mind such as: Is there really a God? Where is He? What is the nature of the soul? What is truth? Is reincarnation true? Is there any purpose in the universe? Does God cause suffering? Do angels exist? Who am I? Can effect become cause? Does space and time really exist? etc. He probes deep into the structure of your mind and with great clarity shows you how your mind works and how you can use it to find success in everything you do. He shows how we attract our present circumstances and how emotionally intense events are not only registered in our psychic memory but also in the memories of the cells of our body and what this means for us. He devotes a chapter in which he advocates "going within" through meditation to find solutions to our problems. Religion is examined with candor. He explains the many positive benefits of religion, examines its dark side and points out that, like individuals, some religions must resolve and get rid of the baggage of past evil deeds before they and their followers can step into the light. The author shows how, in spite of itself science through its quantum theories is currently making discoveries which lead to a new view of the universe more in line with that of the essence of the religions and the experiences of the mystics of this world. He shows how science and religion are at last beginning to merge. For example there is now scientific proof of the value of prayer; proof that the mind is non-local, that is it is not located in the brain and also can cause actions over distance; that there is no solid matter in the universe, it is all energy in one form or another. He further states that a field of energy outside the material universe has been discovered where speeds exceed that of light. It has also been found that our human consciousness is directly connected with matter and influences (at least) its microscopic particles. The nature of the universe as being holographic is explored. These scientific findings have profound spiritual significance. He quotes experts on the future of mankind, including Arthur C. Clark, Nobel physicist Brian Josephson, Stephen Hawking etc... and many more. Reading this book will prepare you for the new age that is fast enveloping the earth. The author's message is that in spite of the terrorism and devastation of the earth currently going on, there is powerful hope. There are powerful spiritual forces at work, which will overcome the present chaos and lead us into a life of enlightenment and eventually of love."

Book Comparison Girl

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Women compare constantly--on social media, in their neighborhood, at church, even in the school drop-off lane. They glance sideways and ask themselves, "How do I measure up?" All this assessment feels like a natural way of finding a place in the world. But it pulls them into feelings of inferiority or superiority, guiding them into a trap of antagonism by the enemy. Satan would like women to strive to measure up, constantly adding to a tally sheet that can't ever be balanced. The way of Jesus is completely upside down from that philosophy. Instead, he says the last shall be first--and the greatest are those who empty themselves, lay down their lives, and serve each other. Through conversations Jesus had and parables he shared, Shannon Popkin has created a seven-week Bible study to address this tendency to compare and judge ourselves and others. Each chapter is divided into lessons, allowing women on a time budget to read a Bible passage, engage in a complete train of thought related to the topic, and then make the content personal--all in one sitting. And the informal teaching tone will make women feel like they're meeting with a trusted friend. Suited for both individual and group study, Comparison Girl will guide women to leave their measure-up ways behind, connect with those around them, and break free from the shackles of comparison!

Book The Expulsive Power of a New Affection

Download or read book The Expulsive Power of a New Affection written by Thomas Chalmers and published by Gideon House Books. This book was released on 2015-06-17 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” — 1 John 2:15 Those who struggle with habitual sin are keenly aware of the despair and fatigue that comes from trying harder and harder to control the desire to do what is wrong in the eyes of God. For this person, there be times of limited success in overcoming sin, but eventually he/she falls back again into unhealthy patterns. In "The Expulsive Power of a New Affection", Thomas Chalmers argues that no matter how hard we may try, we’ll never overcome habitual sin in our lives unless we switch our affections from the world to Jesus Christ. Thankfully Christ loved us first and is more than willing to set us free if we’d only realize the true Gospel power that we can all have in our lives today.

Book In Order to Live

Download or read book In Order to Live written by Yeonmi Park and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-09-29 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I am most grateful for two things: that I was born in North Korea, and that I escaped from North Korea.” - Yeonmi Park "One of the most harrowing stories I have ever heard - and one of the most inspiring." - The Bookseller “Park's remarkable and inspiring story shines a light on a country whose inhabitants live in misery beyond comprehension. Park's important memoir showcases the strength of the human spirit and one young woman's incredible determination to never be hungry again.” —Publishers Weekly In In Order to Live, Yeonmi Park shines a light not just into the darkest corners of life in North Korea, describing the deprivation and deception she endured and which millions of North Korean people continue to endure to this day, but also onto her own most painful and difficult memories. She tells with bravery and dignity for the first time the story of how she and her mother were betrayed and sold into sexual slavery in China and forced to suffer terrible psychological and physical hardship before they finally made their way to Seoul, South Korea—and to freedom. Park confronts her past with a startling resilience. In spite of everything, she has never stopped being proud of where she is from, and never stopped striving for a better life. Indeed, today she is a human rights activist working determinedly to bring attention to the oppression taking place in her home country. Park’s testimony is heartbreaking and unimaginable, but never without hope. This is the human spirit at its most indomitable.

Scrambling to do damage control, Parsons Valentine announces a new Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, commanding Ingrid to spearhead the effort. Only she's about to close an enormous transaction that was to be her final step in securing partnership. For the first time, Ingrid must question her place in the firm.
