Book Particle Image Velocimetry Measurements of IC Engine Valve Flows

Download or read book Particle Image Velocimetry Measurements of IC Engine Valve Flows written by Janghee Lee and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The velocity profile around the intake valve of an internal combustion engine was experimentally investigated by means of particle image velocimetry. A simulated engine setup was constructed using a diesel engine cylinder head and an acrylic cylinder with glass optical windows. The flow was generated by an axial fan on a standard flow bench. The instantaneous two dimensional velocity field was measured in a plane perpendicular to the cylinder head near one of the intake valves. Measurements were taken with a motor driven cam actuating the two intake valves. Measurements were made for several values of cam rotation rate and at several values of cam angle (valve lift). The double exposed film was interrogated by an optical image analysis method, and velocity vectors were obtained at 0.5 mun intervals in the flow field. The results show the expected large shear flows recognizable vortices in the flow field. (Author).

Download or read book Particle Image Velocimetry written by Markus Raffel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-03-12 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results from several applications of particle image velocimetry (PIV) to unsteady flows at a laboratory scale have been published, and commercial products are now available for more general laboratory use, but for certain industrially important applications, reliable equipment is often available only from in-house research and development teams. This PIV handbookis intended to transfer know-how from PIV development laboratories to end-users in industry and universities. The book discusses the scientific and technical aspects required to set up a PIV system, allows users to assess the problems involved in the application of PIV, and enables them to design, optimize, and use PIV systems to meet their special needs.

Book The Particle Image Velocimetry

Download or read book The Particle Image Velocimetry written by Giovanna Cavazzini and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-05-23 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Particle Image Velocimetry is undoubtedly one of the most important technique in Fluid-dynamics since it allows to obtain a direct and instantaneous visualization of the flow field in a non-intrusive way. This innovative technique spreads in a wide number of research fields, from aerodynamics to medicine, from biology to turbulence researches, from aerodynamics to combustion processes. The book is aimed at presenting the PIV technique and its wide range of possible applications so as to provide a reference for researchers who intended to exploit this innovative technique in their research fields. Several aspects and possible problems in the analysis of large- and micro-scale turbulent phenomena, two-phase flows and polymer melts, combustion processes and turbo-machinery flow fields, internal waves and river/ocean flows were considered.
