Las diferencias socio laborales entre hombres y mujeres se están reduciendo con el paso del tiempo, a pesar de esto, la segregación laboral por razón de género es la tónica general en todos los mercados laborales de los países desarrollados, sea cual sea el sector que estudiemos. Este trabajo se inicia con una introducción de la evolución histórica de la mujer y cómo ha ido progresando su posición dentro de una cultura patriarcal. A continuación se centra en la participación sindical de la mujer, la importancia de la Ley de Cuotas como punto de partida y las posibles prácticas sexistas en los sindicatos, así como las medidas correctivas y de acción afirmativas para subsanar dichas prácticas. Posteriormente se hace una breve mención a la segregación ocupacional y a la conciliación familiar junto con la corresponsabilidad y la importancia de la Ley de Igualdad. Por último se realizan unas conclusiones de carácter personal.
