Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nectar of Non-Dual Truth (and its dedicated staff) are both delighted and privileged to bring our revered readership a further offering of Nonduality and Universalism in the noble spirit of interreligious unity and harmony. This gift, a blessing from the Divine Mother of the Universe, presents ingenuous and inestimable installments of dharmic teachings from the sacred traditions of Buddhism, Jainism, Sufism, Taoism, and Vedanta, with additional articles, clips, and key quotes about other paths and ways of inner contemplation in accompaniment. Of the many and remarkable subjects, tenets, and axioms that grace the pages of this issue of Nectar, perhaps ahimsa, nonviolence, takes precedence, and vies for the lion’s share of our attentions and consideration. Another important philosophical facet, that of time, corresponds subsequentially, for humanity needs more of this graceful quality in order to work out its tendencies towards harmfulness and realize the utter and ultimate futility of all acts of aggression.

Book Analysing Identities in Discourse

Download or read book Analysing Identities in Discourse written by Rosana Dolón and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2008-04-23 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The discursive construction of identity is often under the control of the dominant forces in society and frequently results in forms of manipulation and abuse. This awareness led to the celebration of the First International Conference on CDA (València 2004), where over three-hundred academics working in the field of Critical Discourse Analysis became actively engaged in this important issue. The seven studies included in this volume have been selected as representative of those areas of human experience that have been given most intellectual attention and considered to be in fact in need for critical unravelling. Ethnic categorization in multicultural classrooms, patriotic discourse construction in Chinese readers, the denial of Palestinian identity in schoolbooks, the diverse constructions of European identities, Arabs constructing themselves on the worldwide web, identity construction in sexual assault trials, the representations of a dangerous ‘other’ in cases of PLWHAs, are the contextual perspectives embraced in this book to account for forms of power abuse in the discursive construction of identities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “ How God sees the world” is a message of peace on Earth, an invitation to Christians and the world to become peaceful and meek like angels, an invitation to mankind to become compassionate and stand together to combat pollution and the global warming of the Earth. “How God sees the world” is the Bible, Western philosophy, Mathematics, Literature, Science and Life. The book is unique and revolutionary in the history of humanity because the author uses mathematical reasoning to prove the truths in religion, philosophy, and life. The author is an advocate of the renaissance civilization and zero growth as was recommended by the Club of Rome in the book entitled “The Limits to growth”. The author explains the mysteries of Satan and original sin by using Personnalism, Phenomenology, Existentialism, and Mathematics. Mathematics is logic and the art of reasoning. The author demonstrates mathematically and biblically that a Christian is a saint, a communist, or a neutral being. That is to say humanity must become communist or brotherly to hope to solve the problems of pollution, unemployment, violence, poverty, health, crime, wars, etc. This means humanity must become communist or brotherly if it wants to survive.

Book Hijras Lovers Brothers

Download or read book Hijras Lovers Brothers written by Vaibhav Saria and published by Fordham University Press. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner, 2023 Bernard S. Cohn Prize, Association for Asian Studies Winner, 2021 Joseph W. Elder Prize in the Indian Social Sciences Winner, 2021 Ruth Benedict Prize, Association for Queer Anthropology Hijras, one of India’s third gendered or trans populations, have been an enduring presence in the South Asian imagination—in myth, in ritual, and in everyday life, often associated in stigmatized forms with begging and sex work. In more recent years hijras have seen a degree of political emergence as a moral presence in Indian electoral politics, and with heightened vulnerability within global health terms as a high-risk population caught within the AIDS epidemic. Hijras, Lovers, Brothers recounts two years living with a group of hijras in rural India. In this riveting ethnography, Vaibhav Saria reveals not just a group of stigmatized or marginalized others but a way of life composed of laughter, struggles, and desires that trouble how we read queerness, kinship, and the psyche. Against easy framings of hijras that render them marginalized, Saria shows how hijras makes the normative Indian family possible. The book also shows that particular practices of hijras, such as refusing to use condoms or comply with retroviral regimes, reflect not ignorance, irresponsibility, or illiteracy but rather a specific idiom of erotic asceticism arising in both Hindu and Islamic traditions. This idiom suffuses the densely intertwined registers of erotics, economics, and kinship that inform the everyday lives of hijras and offer a repertoire of self-fashioning beyond the secular horizons of public health or queer theory. Engrossingly written and full of keen insights, the book moves from the small pleasures of the everyday—laughter, flirting, teasing—to impossible longings, kinship, and economies of property and substance in order to give a fuller account of trans lives and of Indian society today.
