Book excerpt: Blaine McCracken races to keep dark matter out of the wrong hands in a page-turner that “should be mandatory reading for all thriller aficionados” (Steve Berry, New York Times–bestselling author). Rogue special-operations agent McCracken has never been shy about answering the call, and this time it comes in the aftermath of a deepwater oil rig disaster that claims the life of a onetime member of his commando unit. The remnants of the rig and its missing crew lead him to the inescapable conclusion that one of the most mysterious and deadly forces in the universe is to blame: dark matter, both a limitless source of potential energy and an unimaginably destructive weapon. Joining forces again with his trusty sidekick, Johnny Wareagle, McCracken races to stop two deadly enemies who want the dark matter at all costs. A powerful energy magnate and the leader of a Japanese doomsday cult both seek the ultimate prize for their own nefarious reasons, and McCracken and Wareagle’s mission to defeat them takes the duo on a nonstop journey across the world and thousands of years into the past where the truth lies in the ancient Pandora’s Temple, built to safeguard the world’s most powerful weapon. McCracken’s only hope to save the world is to find the mythical temple. Along the way, he and Wareagle find themselves up against Mexican drug gangs, killer robots, an army of professional assassins, and a legendary sea monster. The hero of nine previous bestselling thrillers, McCracken is used to the odds being stacked against him, but this time the stakes have never been higher. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Jon Land including rare images from the author’s personal collection.

Tubb was one of the very first sf writers to realize the potential danger to Earth from alien organisms. He appreciated that whilst technology may change, Man's nature remains the same and Pandora's Box spins a fascinating tale based on that most basic human emotion - greed!

Book excerpt: Unlike the typical novels, PANDORA’S BOX TRILOGY are hybrid books combining fiction and history. The fictional story revolves around life lessons and my past experiences. The trilogy I've created is unique because it doesn't matter what order they’re read in. Each book can stand on its own and provides enough detail that knowledge of the other books isn't necessary. Although they have some of the same main characters throughout the series, each book has a story and writing style different from the rest. As readers move on to the other books in the series they’ll find connections that are very stimulating and give them a deeper understanding of the characters and life lessons they previously learned. ___________________ PANDORA’S BOX: TRIFORCE is an alternative-world fiction book. Book excerpt: Pandora’s Box is the story of Gilbert O’Sullivan; a middle-aged man, stuck in his monotonous existence at Leeds University. After investigating an archaeological dig in Palestine, he is befriended by an Israeli who tells him about another Bible, one slightly different to the one we all know. When Gilbert visits ‘Bugenheim’ he finds him dying on the floor of his apartment. His final words send him on a hunt for a copy of this legendary book. Gilbert finds himself in the depths of Africa, scaling a cliff to an ancient monastery. Unbeknownst to him though, an agent of the Church is hot on his heels and engineers a fall which sees Gilbert encased in plaster and confined to a wheel chair with a morphine drip. His experiences, now humorously coloured by the morphine seeping into his veins, allow him to discover things which his academic brain would otherwise struggle to recognise. As the revelations unfold, his pursuer starts to question his own faith as the evidence mounts that someone other than his beloved Jesus is the Messiah. The interesting thing about this book is that it is a real conspiracy theory. The original Messiah was not Jesus, but a man who lived 150 years before him who few today have heard of. Pandora’s Box is a fictional account of how this might have come to the world’s attention. The information in this book is accurate; the maps are real, the information in Enoch is real, and the quotes from Judas are from the actual Gospel of Judas. History is not always a reliable witness!

Book excerpt: This is a true and harrowing story of survival in the face of mindless, almost casual brutality, betrayal, cultural and religious hypocrisy. This story is told by two people from different cultures-one from the East and one from the West. Looking beyond the pain of their lives; these two people transcend cultural nuances that mask the common denominators of humanity. Denny is English, Christian, an ex-entertainer and singer. He was blinded by a mugger in London in 1991. Ali is originally from Lebanon, Muslim, and a successful industrial chemist with a pharmaceutical company in Geneva. They have discovered, since they met, some of the most remarkable parallels in their lives, including many dark secrets. Coming to terms with their pasts has provided the opportunity to explore apparent differences. In addition, these so-called unbridgeable chasms turn out to be little more than surface noise disguising deep common themes, and this is one of the major revelations of this book.

Book Opening the Pandora S Box of Religion

Download or read book Opening the Pandora S Box of Religion written by Anthony Joseph and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-11-26 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Opening Pandoras Box is an essay inspired by the horrible deeds of terrorists on 9/11 2001. It is a personal investigation into the nature of the worlds great religions, their positive and negative traits. The authors conclusion is that of the three or four most influential spiritual geniuses of the last four thousand years would include Krishna, Moses, Buddha, and Jesusthose that had spiritually developed adherents, especially in meditation, urged their students to become like them, rather than simply follow a belief system. These teachers gave their students, at whatever level of development, exercises to lessen and evaporate their ego consciousness and eventually to become one with the universe or Godor any word you wish to apply. I think Jesus did teach this also, but early Christianity turned away from it to become an institution and to seek converts. Unquestionably, an institution can do great spiritual good in regards to outreach, but mystical developments must come from a one-on-one teacher basis. The farther away from this oneness goal, the more likely to be mistaken about it since the larger the ego, the more self-oriented it will be and the more likely it will be wrongnot only about the goal itself, but also about the process. Being simply a student, I am talking about these things as a student and urge my readers to investigate all this for themselves. Anthony Joseph

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many, the historical-critical method has released a host of threats to Christian faith and confession. In Pandora's Box Opened, however, Roy Harrisville argues that despite the evils brought upon biblical interpretation by the historical-critical method, there is still hope for it as a discipline. Harrisville begins by describing the emergence and use of the historical-critical method. He then attends to the malaise that has come over the method, which he says still persists. Finally, Harrisville commends the historical-critical method, though shorn of its arrogance. He claims that the method and all its users comprise a "Pandora's Box" that, when opened, releases "a myriad other pains," but hope still remains.
