It is a series of meditations designed to locate and dissolve negative energies trapped inside the body by making a connection between the five outer senses (experienced through the ears, eyes, nose, mouth, and tongue) and the five major negative emotions (anger, hate, worry, sadness, and fear). When the body is cleared of negative energy, universal chi energy flows freely and productively, nourishing both body and soul. The practice is divided into two parts. The first works with controlling the forces of the five elements on the five major organs of the body by learning the elements’ effects upon each other and how to balance and utilize these energies properly. The advanced Fusion exercises then show how to channel the greater energies of the stars and planets to strengthen internal weaknesses and crystallize positive energy. By “fusing” all the different kinds of energy together, a harmonious whole is created--the key to manifesting an Immortal existence.

Book excerpt: THE PATH OF LIFE tells the story of its author, Ou Wen Wei, now a well-known and highly respected qigong master and healer, then (1974) a young idealist with a wife and baby daughter who found himself imprisoned during China's Cultural Revolution on trumped-up charges. At the same time he also found himself in a developing relationship with a supernatural entity identified as Pangu--in Chinese mythology the Creator of the universe, or, in another word, God. But the book is not simply a Chinese version of a "conversation with God"; it is instead more like a wrestling match, with Ou Wen Wei fiercely resisting Pangu's central message, that he has been chosen to lead humanity into its new and final stage of development, the Future World--while also having to wrestle with his ruthless human persecutors in the present world.

As China emerges as an economic and political world power that seems to have done away with religion, in fact it is witnessing a religious revival. The thoughtful essays in this book show both the historical conflicts between state authorities and religious movements and the contemporary encounters that are shaping China's future. I am aware of no other book that covers so much ground and can be used so well as an introduction to this important field." —Peter van der Veer, University of Utrecht

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In On Their Own Terms, Benjamin A. Elman offers a much-needed synthesis of early Chinese science during the Jesuit period (1600-1800) and the modern sciences as they evolved in China under Protestant influence (1840s-1900). By 1600 Europe was ahead of Asia in producing basic machines, such as clocks, levers, and pulleys, that would be necessary for the mechanization of agriculture and industry. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, Elman shows, Europeans still sought from the Chinese their secrets of producing silk, fine textiles, and porcelain, as well as large-scale tea cultivation. Chinese literati borrowed in turn new algebraic notations of Hindu-Arabic origin, Tychonic cosmology, Euclidian geometry, and various computational advances. Since the middle of the nineteenth century, imperial reformers, early Republicans, Guomindang party cadres, and Chinese Communists have all prioritized science and technology. In this book, Elman gives a nuanced account of the ways in which native Chinese science evolved over four centuries, under the influence of both Jesuit and Protestant missionaries. In the end, he argues, the Chinese produced modern science on their own terms.

Book Qi Gong

Download or read book Qi Gong written by Paul Fraser and published by Aeon Books. This book was released on 2019-12-31 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Qi Gong is seen by many as something mystical or other-worldly, yet, in ancient China, it was considered an internally based technology, accessible to all, offering powerful yet simple techniques to strengthen health and vitality, heal illness, enhance martial power - a path to connect with the realms of Nature and Spirit. All living beings are part of a vast profound Whole, beautifully knit together with inexhaustible vibrant energy called Qi. The cultivation and exploration of Qi deepens and enriches our human experience through awakening and amplifying our own innate capabilities. We are designed to help others heal, communicate with Nature, receive Divine guidance and participate in life enhancing evolution. Accessing these deeper levels of our own humanity may be seen as a two fold path: one consists of forms or routines designed to connect us to the flow of Qi to absorb and direct it, and the other as a quest for virtue through love and kindness. When these outer and inner paths merge, a profound transformation occurs. Qi Gong: Rediscovering Our Humanity offers a remedy for many of today’s concerns involving physical health, emotional balance and the nurturing of the planet we inhabit, discussing the nature of Qi, the history of Qi Gong and its influence on medicine, martial arts, and ancient and modern culture. It includes safe, easy to follow instructions with illustrations for three styles of Qi cultivation, suggesting that this concept is much closer to us than we may have thought.

Book excerpt: “A big, bold, brilliantly crafted page-turner with HUGE ideas that challenge every last view about how the world works. This is both a primer to understand the law of attraction and the essential book of our age.” — Jack Canfield, author of The Success Principles(TM) and featured teacher on The Secret(TM) “One of the most powerful and enlightening books I have ever read. A magnificent job of presenting the hard evidence for what spiritual masters have been telling us for centuries.” — Wayne W. Dyer During the past few years science and medicine have been converging with common sense, confirming a widespread belief that everything—especially the mind and the body—is far more connected than traditional physics ever allowed. The Field establishes a new biological paradigm: it proves that our body extends electromagnetically beyond ourselves and our physical body. It is within this field that we can find a remarkable new way of looking at health, sickness, memory, will, creativity, intuition, the soul, consciousness, and spirituality. The Field helps to bridge the gap that has opened up between mind and matter, between us and the cosmos. Original, well researched, and well documented by distinguished sources, this is the mind/body book for a new millennium.
