Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, Steven Evans reports on a quarter century of work-work that resulted in a commercial product known as the PACE System. An advanced clinical management system, PACE links all care delivery set tings and reaches across multiple episodes. It offers capabilities critical to managed care, including care planning and clinical pathways, the critical pathway analyzer and clinical repository central to outcomes-based care, and more. The pages that follow describe the PACE project, focusing on its knowl edge base and semantic network. They offer insights into system implemen tation and address the synthesis of principles within the PACE System. From this project in nursing informatics, Steven Evans relates both suc cesses and failures, sharing the strategies and techniques to adopt and pitfalls to avoid in a project that followed five years of preliminary theo retical work. With clarity and candor, he gives us the benefit of two decades of project development, first in academia and then in the commercial sector. Over the course of the project, many tens of millions of dollars and close to 500 person-years of effort were invested. Building on the strong conceptual base developed at Creigton University's School of Nursing, the project has seen exponential growth in its clinical capabilities since entering the commercial sector in 1989.

Book Sacred Pace

    Book Details:
  • Author : Terry Looper
  • Publisher : HarperChristian + ORM
  • Release : 2019-02-26
  • ISBN : 078522338X
  • Pages : 234 pages

Download or read book Sacred Pace written by Terry Looper and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2019-02-26 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we hear from God and discern His will when it’s time to make big decisions? Terry Looper shares a four-step process for doing just that - a process he has learned and refined over thirty years as a Christian entrepreneur and founder of a multi-billion dollar company. At just thirty-six years old, Terry Looper was a successful Christian businessman who thought he had it all—until managing all he had led to a devastating burnout. Wealthy beyond his wildest dreams but miserable beyond belief, Terry experienced a radical transformation when he discovered how to align himself with God’s will in the years following his crash and burn. Sacred Pace is a four-step process that helps Christians in all walks of life learn how to slow down their decision-making under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, sift through their surface desires and sinful patterns in order to receive clear, peace-filled answers from the Lord, gain the confident assurance that God’s answers are His way of fulfilling the true desires he has placed in their hearts, and grow closer to the One who loves them most and knows them best. Sacred Pace is not another example of name-it-and-claim-it materialism in disguise. Instead, it walks Christians through the sometimes-painful process of “dying to self” in their decisions, both big and small, so that they desire God’s will more than their own.

Book Neural Networks for Pattern Recognition

Download or read book Neural Networks for Pattern Recognition written by Albert Nigrin and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1993 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a simple and accessible way it extends embedding field theory into areas of machine intelligence that have not been clearly dealt with before. Neural Networks for Pattern Recognition takes the pioneering work in artificial neural networks by Stephen Grossberg and his colleagues to a new level. In a simple and accessible way it extends embedding field theory into areas of machine intelligence that have not been clearly dealt with before. Following a tutorial of existing neural networks for pattern classification, Nigrin expands on these networks to present fundamentally new architectures that perform realtime pattern classification of embedded and synonymous patterns and that will aid in tasks such as vision, speech recognition, sensor fusion, and constraint satisfaction. Nigrin presents the new architectures in two stages. First he presents a network called Sonnet 1 that already achieves important properties such as the ability to learn and segment continuously varied input patterns in real time, to process patterns in a context sensitive fashion, and to learn new patterns without degrading existing categories. He then removes simplifications inherent in Sonnet 1 and introduces radically new architectures. These architectures have the power to classify patterns that may have similar meanings but that have different external appearances (synonyms). They also have been designed to represent patterns in a distributed fashion, both in short-term and long-term memory.

Book The Age of the Network

Download or read book The Age of the Network written by Jessica Lipnack and published by . This book was released on 1996-01-30 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: praise for The Age of the Network "A very stimulating, visionary account of how networks and networking are organizational structures and processes of the future."—Edgar H. Schein, Sloan Fellows Professor of Management Emeritus, MIT, Sloan School of Management "Networking — practical, down-to-earth, easily understood descriptions of how others have obtained a competitive edge." — William R. Johnson, General Manager, Networking Hardware Division, IBM "Collaborative advantage is the wave of the future; Lipnack and Stamps show how to catch that wave and ride it triumphantly. With memorable wit and wisdom, their book provides numerous valuable lessons for the challenging changes ahead: how to see further by sitting on boundaries, organize teams that really get something done, and loosen hierarchies without losing control."—Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Harvard Business School, Author of When Giants Learn to Dance and The Change Masters The Age of the Network shows how organizations can break through mental and bureaucratic log jams and open up new opportunities by creating links both inside and outside themselves. With numerous, real-world examples, authors Lipnack and Stamps demonstrate how to form interlocking, boundary-crossing teams and thus build a truly networked enterprise. Focusing on five essential principles of "teamnets" (networks of teams), this forward-looking book reveals ways organizations can use these networks to realize their full potential and sustain this new dynamic well into the future.
