Download or read book Complex System Reliability written by Albert Myers and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-09-30 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex System Reliability presents a state-of-the-art treatment of complex multi-channel system reliability assessment and provides the requisite tools, techniques and algorithms required for designing, evaluating and optimizing ultra-reliable redundant systems. Critical topics that make Complex System Reliability a unique and definitive resource include: • redundant system analysis for k-out-of-n systems (including complex systems with embedded k-out-of-n structures) involving both perfect and imperfect fault coverage; • imperfect fault coverage analysis techniques, including algorithms for assessing the reliability of redundant systems in which each element is subject to a given coverage value (element level coverage) or in which the system uses voting to avoid the effects of a failed element (fault level coverage); and • state-of-the-art binary decision diagram analysis techniques, including the latest and most efficient algorithms for the reliability assessment of large, complex redundant systems. This practical presentation includes numerous fully worked examples that provide detailed explanations of both the underlying design principles and the techniques (such as combinatorial, recursive and binary decision diagram algorithms) used to obtain quantitative results. Many of the worked examples are based on the design of modern digital fly-by-wire control system technology. Complex System Reliability provides in-depth coverage of systems subject to either perfect or imperfect fault coverage and also the most recent techniques for correctly assessing the reliability of redundant systems that use mid-value-select voting as their primary means of redundancy management. It is a valuable resource for those involved in the design and reliability assessment of highly reliable systems, particularly in the aerospace and automotive sectors.
Download or read book The Memory System Of The Brain written by Jean Delacour and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-04-22 with total page 896 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to describe the memory system of the brain, taking into account all the levels of neural organization: molecule, cell, small network, and anatomical circuit. This synthetic approach is necessary for determining the real mechanisms among the potential ones, that is the neural bases of learning and memory in intact organisms functioning under normal conditions. For this purpose, data from molecular, cellular and behavioral neurobiology, neuropsychology, animal and human psychology, and neural modellization are comprehensively reviewed by leading specialists and brought together in an original synthesis.

Download or read book Best Practices for Linking Strategic Goals to Resource Allocation and Implementation Decisions Using Elements of a Transportation Asset Management Program written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research described in this report assembles a set of tools based on experiences and best practices in a diverse set of states for linking strategic goals to resource allocation and implementation decisions using aspects of asset management. A survey of practices in each of the state DOT's that explores documents and synthesizes both strategic planning processes and asset management was conducted. With input from an expert advisory panel, five states were for detailed analysis. These are Florida, Maryland, Michigan, Montana and Pennsylvania. The model process that results does not represent any particular state, but incorporates elements from all five states. This model process can provide useful guidance to states interested in augmenting their existing process.
Download or read book Parallel Distributed Processing Volume 2 written by James L. Mcclelland and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1987-07-29 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What makes people smarter than computers? These volumes by a pioneering neurocomputing group suggest that the answer lies in the massively parallel architecture of the human mind. They describe a new theory of cognition called connectionism that is challenging the idea of symbolic computation that has traditionally been at the center of debate in theoretical discussions about the mind. The authors' theory assumes the mind is composed of a great number of elementary units connected in a neural network. Mental processes are interactions between these units which excite and inhibit each other in parallel rather than sequential operations. In this context, knowledge can no longer be thought of as stored in localized structures; instead, it consists of the connections between pairs of units that are distributed throughout the network. Volume 1 lays the foundations of this exciting theory of parallel distributed processing, while Volume 2 applies it to a number of specific issues in cognitive science and neuroscience, with chapters describing models of aspects of perception, memory, language, and thought.

And it identifies a wide range of basic business object classes and sub-classes. In so doing, it provides business systems analysts, designers, and programmers with a solid, object-oriented framework within which to work together.
Download or read book Chaotic Dynamics of Fractional Discrete Time Systems written by Vignesh Dhakshinamoorthy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-09-06 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book reviews the application of discrete fractional operators in diverse fields such as biological and chemical reactions, as well as chaotic systems, demonstrating their applications in physics. The dynamical analysis is carried out using equilibrium points of the system for studying their stability properties and the chaotic behaviors are illustrated with the help of bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponents. The book is divided into three parts. Part I deals with the application of discrete fractional operators in chemical reaction-based systems with biological significance. Two different chemical reaction models are analysed- one being disproportionation of glucose, which plays an important role in human physiology and the other is the Lengyel – Epstein chemical model. Chaotic behavior of the systems is studied and the synchronization of the system is performed. Part II covers the analysis of biological systems like tumor immune system and neuronal models by introducing memristor based flux control. The memductance functions are considered as quadratic, periodic, and exponential functions. The final part of the book reviews the complex form of the Rabinovich-Fabrikant system which describes physical systems with strong nonlinearity exhibiting unusual behavior.
