Book The problem and reality of God

Download or read book The problem and reality of God written by Joseph Dias, S.J. and published by BRONATO.com. This book was released on 2019-06-02 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 31st General Congregation of the Society of Jesus which took place between May, 1965 and November, 1966, in its decree on 'The Task of the Society regarding Atheism' says the following: The glory of God, as the goal of all creation and man's own good required that he acknowledge, reverence, and serve God. Hence, the danger of atheism which faces so many men today should greatly stimulate the companions of Jesus to offer a purer witness of religious life and a more zealous devotion to apostolic work. The denial of God is no longer, as in former centuries, an isolated phenomenon; it has become widespread, affecting entire social groups and nations. In some countries, atheism is systematically spread by public authority, thereby violating the rights of man to the free investigation of truth and the practice of religion. In many more regions, the denial of God or indifference to religion has directly or indirectly infected cultural and social life. The Supreme Pontiff, Paul VI, on the occasion of the gathering of the Fathers for the 31st General Congregation, committed to the Society, in view of its special vow of obedience, the task of resisting atheism “with forces united”. Each Jesuit, therefore, earnestly though humbly, should take part in this task by prayer and action, and each one should be grateful that he can thus better serve “his Lord alone and the Church, His spouse, under the guidance of the Roman Pontiff, the Vicar of Christ on earth” Keeping in mind the mandate of Pope Paul VI and its whole-hearted acceptance by the 31st General Congregation, the highest legislative body in the Society of Jesus, this little study on the 'Problem and the Reality of God' was written in 1974, towards the end of my studies in Theology. It is my humble, yet earnest, hope that, through quiet, if possible, prayerful reflection on the contents of these pages, at least a handful of 'seekers of the truth' will be helped to pierce through the dark clouds of unbelief gathering around us – foreboding destruction and death – to catch a glimpse of that Mysterious Loving Presence ‘in whom we live and move and have our being' – that Ultimate, Intensely Personal Truth, who alone can give direction to our confused minds, meaning and purpose to our tireless strivings, joy to our troubled hearts, and peace to our restless spirits. Fr. Joseph M. Dias, S.J., St. Stanislaus' Junior College, Bandra, Bombay-400 050. 14th September, 1978.

Andy is diagnosed as suffering from clinical depression. He abandons his wife and daughter hoping to kick-start his life finding work down in London. He feels that he has let his family down badly and assures himself that they would be far better off without him. After hitching a lift that takes him down to the South East Coast, Andy meets up with a kind and caring pair of star-struck elderly lovers, one of whom owns a boarding house in Basildon. Two other main characters in the book enter the story intermittently. The first is a girl named Gita from Birmingham, who is running away from an arranged marriage. As her story unfolds she too will eventually end up living down on the South East Coast. The other is Sam, a loveable rogue born and bred in the East End of London. After serving an eight-year prison sentence in one of Her Majesty’s Correctional Facilities for manslaughter, he too shuns his place of birth and makes his way towards the South East Coast. All three will eventually meet up but not in the circumstances that you may expect or predict.

This book was released on 2023-12-01 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout human life, there is a continuity of running behind different needs which may or may not be satisfied. At the same time, due to rapid and unexpected changes in the society and environment, human personality and the behavior are being affected. Living in a society, to lead a healthy and successful life, there is a need to compromise and build a harmonious relationship with the society and environment. And this compromise between the needs of the individual and the demands of the community in which one lives is termed as “Adjustment” by many psychologists. The concept of “Adjustment” was first given by Darwin, who used it as an adaptation to survive in the physical world. Adjustment is an essential factor in the life of human, which is a continuous process and ends with life.

Book Managing by the Bhagavad G t

Download or read book Managing by the Bhagavad G t written by Satinder Dhiman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-27 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing upon the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gītā, a philosophical-spiritual world classic, this professional book highlights the spiritual and moral dimensions of management using an inside-out leadership development approach. It interprets the Bhagavad Gītā’s teachings on the personality types and psychological makeup of managers and employees; self-knowledge and self-mastery; and the leadership concepts of vision, motivation, and empowerment. This book covers topics such as training of the mind, ethical leadership, communication, stress management, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Collectively, the enclosed contributions provide managers with an enhanced outlook on management functions such as leading, planning, organizing, and controlling in today’s organizations, particularly those run by knowledge workers. Management research in the 20th century has mainly focused on the industrial paradigm characterized by a hierarchical structure of authority and responsibility with an individualistic focus on the personality of the manager. However, this traditional paradigm cannot solve many of the problems that confront leaders and mangers today. Recent studies have shown that values traditionally associated with spirituality—such as integrity, honesty, trust, kindness, caring, fairness, and humility—have a demonstrable effect on managerial effectiveness and success. Although traditionally interpreted as a religious-spiritual text, the Bhagavad Gītā teaches these values which can be extrapolated and applied to practical management lessons in today’s corporate boardrooms. Applying the text of the Bhagavad Gītā to the context of management, this book views the manager as an “enlightened sage” who operates from higher stance, guided by self-knowledge and self-mastery. It demonstrates how character is the key ingredient for effective management and leadership. This book is therefore applicable to all managers, from first-line to CEOs, in their management and leadership roles in organizations.

Download or read book Bhagavad Gita written by Madan Mohan Verma and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2015-01-29 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bhagavad-Gita raises the fundamental question of the problem of human action and dispels the darkness and negative emotions, created by the wavering Mind. It explains the basic concepts of religion as such, which are neither ancient nor modern but eternal, which belong to the humanity, past, present and future. As a book of higher knowledge, the Gita does not refer to any particular religion or a School of thought. It attempts to provide a meaningful direction out of the tunnel of darkness and ambivalence. To love all, and to serve all, is the quintessence of the philosophy of Bhagavad-gita. The path of knowledge is the path of love and devotion.

Book Consciousness Based Leadership and Management Volume 1

Download or read book Consciousness Based Leadership and Management Volume 1 written by Anil K. Maheshwari and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-03-09 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume set examines the need for a consciousness-based view of leadership, which emphasizes universal human flourishing, as opposed to a resource-based view, which focuses on sustaining a competitive advantage. This approach is built around three main principles: 1) Paradigm (Consciousness is primary including complementary existence of opposites), 2) Interpersonal (focusing on empathy and compassion), and 3) Individual (experiencing Oneness and expressing creativity). Volume One is divided into three sections. The first section focuses on Consciousness-based approaches to Inclusive, Purposeful, Quantum, and Vedic leadership. The second section focuses on leadership principles from Vedic scriptures such as Ramayana and Vedanta. The third section includes leadership principles from other scriptures such as Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, and Thirukural. Aligning leadership practices with the notion of unbounded consciousness, this edited collection will extend the literature on organizational culture, leadership, and sustainability, contributing to solving the grand challenges facing humanity.
