Book Owl and the Tiger Thieves

Download or read book Owl and the Tiger Thieves written by Kristi Charish and published by Gallery Books. This book was released on 2018-05-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Owl—a modern-day Indiana Jane—handles supernatural monsters, temperamental dragons, and slippery ninjas as she races to stop a brewing supernatural war in this fourth novel in the Owl series. The Silk Road was an ancient trade route paved with fortunes and tears in equal measure—the tears part mostly due to the distinct chance of being gutted by an opportunistic supernatural lying in wait. Somewhere among the trade cities lost to the ages, the Tiger Thieves—assassins who once guarded the Silk Road against the supernatural monsters that preyed on ancient caravans—still hide. Shame no one has seen one of them in over five hundred years, since they’re the only ones who might be able to help Owl stop the reign of the Electric Samurai and the descent of the world into supernatural chaos in all its eviscerating glory. From a Peruvian jail to Venice to Timbuktu, Owl searches for the Tiger Thieves in the hopes of convincing them to help her—all while fetching artifacts and weapons for Mr. Kurosawa’s brewing supernatural war. Considering diplomatic negotiations aren’t exactly Owl’s strong suit, she has her work cut out for her. Not to mention, her sidekick on this adventure leaves a lot to be desired and little to trust. Poking a tiger is never a good idea, and tangling with the ancient assassins will take everything Owl has. Eventually, she’ll have to decide whether she’s a wayward archaeologist or just another cold-hearted thief.

Book excerpt: In this fourth Owl novel, Kristi Charish (The Voodoo Killings) melds sparkling fantasy with the grit of urban underbelly—with a detour through the world’s most spectacular cities. This is perfect for fans of Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, Jennifer Estep, Jenn Bennett, and fantasy lovers everywhere. Through no fault of her own, Alix has found herself essential to the fate of the world as we know it. She didn’t mean for this to happen—she was quite happy being merely the notorious antiquities thief, and ex-archeologist, known as Owl. However, years ago, Owl reluctantly entered the secret world of the supernatural. Her goals: complete one job, escape one bounty on her head, continue her thieving in peace. Fast forward to today. Now, she has become a key player in a brutal paranormal civil war that is rapidly getting out of hand. The leader of one of these factions—a lethal opponent called the Electric Samurai—grows more powerful by the second. To stop him, Owl sets out to find the long-lost, legendary group known as the Tiger Thieves. But will it be too little too late? One thing Owl misses about “normal” archaeology: there are few emergencies with thousand-year-old relics.

Just when Kincaid Strange thinks her life is back on track and she's finally put her time as a paranormal practitioner with the Seattle PD to rest, her ex (and Seattle cop) Aaron asks her for help with yet another strange and ominous case. Martin Dane, the White Picket Fence Serial Killer who terrorized West Coast families living the suburban American dream, appears to be back at it with a fresh murder in Portland. There's only one problem: Dane has been dead for three weeks. Kincaid can't resist a paranormal mystery. Despite her misgivings, she agrees to examine the Portland crime scene. What she discovers is a place of supernatural power unlike anywhere she's ever been--and the reason Aaron had been so tight-lipped about the case details. There's already a voodoo practitioner on the scene: Liam Sinclair, a TV celebrity of questionable talent and dubious intent. Kincaid wants nothing more than to finish the job and retreat to Seattle, but the deeper she looks, the less the murder adds up. When she uncovers a much more sinister mystery--missing ghosts, scores of them, whom no one is looking for--there's no turning back.

Book Tiger lilies

Download or read book Tiger lilies written by Sidney Lanier and published by . This book was released on 1867 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Tiger-Lilies is actually a somewhat autobiographical book. In it, Lanier analyzes the relationship between a Northerner and a Southerner throughout the Civil War. As a Southerner who had fought for the Confederate army, Lanier had experienced the war firsthand, both on the battlefield and as a prisoner of war. These experiences are recognizable in the battle scenes especially, which are considered some of the most realistic representations of Civil War combat in literature. Ultimately, Tiger-Lilies can be interpreted as an anti-war novel and one of Lanier's less successful endeavors in the course of his career."--The History Engine

Maxi used his own army, King John's and Queen Victoria's armies along with all abled animals to prepare for a battle with the red wolves, who were overtaking the forests and controlling and abusing the peaceful creatures living there. Maxi's army won the battle with the help of the magic trees and took the remaining red wolves to the mountain forest, which is theirs now to rule and occupy. Maxi visits King John, returns his army, and discuses the details of the battle, the victory. He then visits the Queen Victoria and returns her army. She wants to know what happened, and Maxi tells her the story of the battle to removing the red wolves from their own forest on the mountain. After getting Sunset to come with him to the Enchanted Forest, Maxi finds out they in fact were not red wolves but rather Changelings. And when Maxi, Dark Cloud and the changelings go to the mountain forest, they were cleared of being a part of the pack of red wolves; they became Maxi's allies, being in a human form. After returning the changelings home, past Ventura, he returned to King John's castle to see his wife and son. After spending some time at King John's, Maxi and Goldie return home with the prince to the Ventura castle. They had to rush back To Ventura as Maxi found out the ex-king is scheming to take the castle from Maxi. Upon returning, Maxi caught the ex-king lounging and acting like the bad king he was, while other prisoners were working, so he moved the ex-king to the dungeon in the basement of the castle, disregarding his pleading and crying. The way Maxi ran the kingdom, the castle was operating very well and the people were extremely happy with their new King and Queen, but especially the new Prince. Even the prisoners were not complaining and quite content being in their situation. They did not lack for anything.
