Book Putting the Pieces Together

Download or read book Putting the Pieces Together written by Lee A. Westberry and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-08-04 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Putting the Pieces Together: A Systems Approach to School Leadership, the author addresses the need for systems planning in school administration in an effort to assist principals and district leadership in the face of changing demands. This book will not only outline these systems and all of their component parts but will provide a “how to” approach to develop each system. In addition, a system for progress monitoring will be described and explained. Book Leadership of Schools

Book excerpt: "Is there still a role for Chief Education Officers in an era which stresses team empowerment and stakeholder involvement? This volume explores the issues of educational leadership in a period of major change. Based upon Angela Thody's unique and detailed observations of the day-to-day activities of senior leaders in education, this is a fascinating and provocative account of strategic management in action - an account which highlights issues of leadership common to all sectors of management." "The author 'shadowed' nine directors of education over two separate time periods. She finds the middle ground between statistical analysis and real-life narrative and constructs, with flair and clarity, a gripping study of the reality of educational leadership. This is a vigorous treatment of a relatively new area of educational research, and, with some international comparisons, outlines a vision of the future for educational leadership."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book The Aesthetic Dimensions of Educational Administration Leadership

Download or read book The Aesthetic Dimensions of Educational Administration Leadership written by Eugenie A. Samier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2006-11-22 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of aesthetics as a theoretical framework for thinking about modern leadership issues in educational settings is an emergent area of inquiry that is receiving considerable attention. There is a growing sense that the mechanistic approach to leadership, which has been widely encouraged over the last ten years, is sterile and that a more philosophical approach is now required. This approach is covered here, taking into account the importance of aesthetics on all aspects of the administrative and leadership world: the ways ideas and ideals are created, how their expression is conveyed, the impact they have on interpersonal relationships and the organisational environment that carries and reinforces them and the moral boundaries or limits that can be established or exceeded. While presenting a significant departure from conventional studies in the field, the international contributors reflect a continuity of thought on administrative and leadership authority, from the writings of Plato through to current theory.

Download or read book Distributed Leadership written by Alma Harris and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-03-17 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alma Harris The ?eld of school leadership is currently preoccupied with the idea of distributed leadership. Few ideas, it seems, have provoked as much attention, debate and c- troversy. Whatever your position on distributed leadership, and you cannot fail to have one, it is irrefutable that distributed leadership has become the leadership idea of the moment. Yet, it is an idea that can be traced back as far as the mid 20s and possibly earlier. So why the interest? Part of the answer can be found in a move away from theorizing and empirical enquiry focused on the single leader. This shift has undoubtedly been fuelled by structural changes, within schools and across school systems that have resulted in - ternative models or forms of leadership practice. Evidence highlights how those - cupying formal leadership positions are increasingly recognizing the limitations of existing structural arrangements to secure organizational growth and transformation (Fullan et al. , 2007; Harris et al. , 2008; Chapman et al. , 2008). As a consequence, many heads and principals are actively restructuring, realigning and redesigning leadership practice in their school (Harris, 2008). While the terminology to describe such changes varies, the core principle is one of extending or sharing leadership practice. While scholars have long argued for the need to move beyond those at the top of organizations in order to examine leadership (Barnard, 1968; Katz and Kahn, 1966) until relatively recently, much of the school leadership literature has tended tofocusupontheheadortheprincipal.
