Book Nietzsche s Genealogy of Morality

Download or read book Nietzsche s Genealogy of Morality written by David Owen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-12-05 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A landmark work of western philosophy, "On the Genealogy of Morality" is a dazzling and brilliantly incisive attack on European "morality". Combining philosophical acuity with psychological insight in prose of remarkable rhetorical power, Nietzsche takes up the task of offering us reasons to engage in a re-evaluation of our values. In this book, David Owen offers a reflective and insightful analysis of Nietzsche's text. He provides an account of how Nietzsche comes to the project of the re-evaluation of values; he shows how the development of Nietzsche's understanding of the requirements of this project lead him to acknowledge the need for the kind of investigation of "morality" that he terms "genealogy"; he elucidates the general structure and substantive arguments of Nietzsche's text, accounting for the rhetorical form of these arguments, and he debates the character of genealogy (as exemplified by Nietzsche's "Genealogy") as a form of critical enquiry. Owen argues that there is a specific development of Nietzsche's work from his earlier "Daybreak" (1881) and that in "Genealogy of Morality", Nietzsche is developing a critique of modes of agency and that this constitutes the most fundamental aspect of his demand for a revaluation of values. The book is a distinctive and significant contribution to our understanding of Nietzsche's great text.

Book Genealogy Software Guide

Download or read book Genealogy Software Guide written by Marthe Arends and published by Genealogical Publishing Com. This book was released on 1998 with total page 293 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a much-needed guide to genealogy software. Along with a variety of other useful features it comprises reviews of the major software programs, including commercial & shareware software as well as utilities. We are all painfully aware of the fact that genealogy software changes rapidly, & indeed over the last few years countless genealogy programs have been orphaned with outdated interfaces, inadequate features, & little or no author support, so for this reason the book concentrates solely on software that is current & is still supported by the author or publisher. In addition, new versions of existing software & frequently released updates result in a quagmire of options & choices, so a guide such as this is not only essential for the computer genealogist, it is absolutely indispensable. Bearing in mind some concerns that might be paramount to the reader, the author tackles a number of frequently asked questions before launching into her software reviews, answering such key questions as the following: Why use genealogy software? What equipment do I need? How do I choose & evaluate a program? What are the different types of software available to me? And where can I buy this software? With such questions authoritatively addressed, the author goes on to list each program's major features; but rather than a mere litany of details, functions, & common characteristics, she tries to provide a sense of what the program actually feels like, providing over eighty sample reports & screen shots of the major genealogy programs & software utilities. In this context it is important to note that only IBM compatible software is reviewed here; Macintosh & other platforms, however, are listed & briefly described.

Book How to Start Teach Franchise a Creative Genealogy Writing Class or Club

Download or read book How to Start Teach Franchise a Creative Genealogy Writing Class or Club written by Anne Hart and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2008-06-12 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's easy to start, teach, and franchise a creative genealogy writing club, class, or publication. Start by looking at the descriptions of each business and outline a plan for how your group operates. Flesh out each category with your additional research pertaining to your local area and your resources. Your goal always is to solve problems and get measurable results or find accurate records and resources. Or research personal history and DNA-driven genealogy interpretation reporting. You can make keepsake albums/scrapbooks, put video online or on disc, and create multimedia text and image with sound productions or work with researching records in archives, oral history, or living legacies and time capsules. A living legacy is a celebration of life as it is now. A time capsule contains projects and products, items, records, and research you want given to future generations such as genograms of medical record family history, family newsletters, or genealogy documents, diaries, photos, and video transcribed as text or oral history for future generations without current technology to play the video discs. Or start and plan a family and/or school reunion project or franchise, business or event. Another alternative is the genealogy-related play or skit, life story, or memoir.
